  • The objective of this paper is to introduce a project on developing construction method based estimation system. It means a 3D product model based estimation system to effectively and efficiently manage estimation process during the project life-cycle. This paper describes a outline and method for 3D based estimation system. Normally, it is not easy to take-off the quantity from 3D CAD model, because of all different depths of the quantity take off in each design development stage and nation. This study shows how to keep the balance of its depths in each design development stage such as schematic design, detail design, shop drawing, and so forth.

  • This paper was to find out the design methodology for korean railway station of steel structure using by wooden structure system. Traditionally Korean architecture was made by wooden structure system what is called Gong-Po (wooden bracket structure system). The abundant ornament of Korean architecture is resulted from the composition rule of Gong-Po(wooden bracket structure system). But Korean wooden structural system have a limit in constructing large building, for example railway station, airport terminal, convention center etc. It is needed to convert wooden structure system into steel structure system. But there are many differences between wooden structure and steel structure in texture, material strength, joint system of elements etc. In this paper, we will show you how to make a joint system for steel structure of railway station and how to present the traditionality of Korean architecture in railway station.

  • A detailed bathymetric map is used to construct a morphotectonic map of the Ulleung Basin. The definition of "morphotectonics" and the procedure of the morphotectonic mapping are described in detail. The morphotectonic structural elements of various orders and ranks are also determined using echo-sounding and other geophysical data. Preliminary analysis shows that the newly determined morpho-structural elements coincide with the locations of deeper tectonic features established by the geophysical evidences of the inner sedimentary and/or crustal sections. Therefore, the tectonic zone of the Ulleung Basin has imprinted the patterns of the inherited evolution since Neogene.e Neogene.

  • A 2-bay 2-story moment-resisting reinforced concrete plane frame with seismic detail was designed. One 1/2.5-scale and one 1/10th model subassemblages were manufactured accoring to the required similitude law. Then the reversed load tests under the displacement control were performed statically to these subassemblages. The results of these tests were compared regarding to the similitude in the characteristics of structural behaviors such as strength., stiffness, energy dissipation, failure modes and local deformations. Based on these results, the following conclussions were drawn : (1) The strength of 1/10 model was very similar to that of 1/2.5 specimen. (2) The initial stiffness of 1/10 model appers to be approximately 2/3 of that of 1/2.5 specimen. (3) 1/10 model has therefore smaller energy dissipation capacity than 1/2.5 specimen. (4) Inelastic excursion mechanisms of 1/2.5 specimen and 1/10 model apper to be a little different.

  • In this paper, adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and artificial neural networks (ANNs) techniques are developed and applied to identify damage in a model steel girder bridge using dynamic parameters. The required data in the form of natural frequencies are obtained from experimental modal analysis. A comparative study is made using the ANNs and ANFIS techniques and results showed that both ANFIS and ANN present good predictions. However the proposed ANFIS architecture using hybrid learning algorithm was found to perform better than the multilayer feedforward ANN which learns using the backpropagation algorithm. This paper also highlights the concept of ANNs and ANFIS followed by the detail presentation of the experimental modal analysis for natural frequencies extraction.

  • In this work, various higher-order shear deformation beam theories for wave propagation in functionally graded beams are developed. The material properties of FG beam are assumed graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents, the governing equations of the wave propagation in the FG beam are derived by using the Hamilton's principle. The analytic dispersion relations of the FG beam are obtained by solving an eigenvalue problem. The effects of the volume fraction distributions on wave propagation of functionally graded beam are discussed in detail. The results carried out can be used in the ultrasonic inspection techniques and structural health monitoring.

  • Korea Railroad Research Institute(KRRI) have been developing Korean Tilting Train eXpress(TTX) with the service speed of 180km/h as the R&D project supporting by Korea government. The core of research is the development of the tilting bogie using the domestic tilting technologies. We developed the 3D-CAD prototype of tiling bogie model. In this paper we attempted to evaluate the structural strength of bogie frame using the Finite Element Method. Finally, we . would like to propose the application of the modifying part to the detail design.

  • Membrane structures, a kind of lightweight soft structural system, are used for spatial structures. The design procedure of membrane structures are needed to do shape finding, stress-deformation analysis and cutting pattern generation, because the material property has strong axial stiffness, but little bending stiffness. The problem of cutting pattern is highly varied in their size, curvature and material stiffness. So, the approximation inherent in cooing pattern generation methods is quite different. Therefore the ordinary computer software of structural analysis & design is not suitable for membrane structures. In this study, we develop the program for cutting pattern generation using geodesic line, and investigate the result of example's cutting pattern in detail.

  • Recently, the development of new structural model in fixed partial denture system is required to be started from the conceptual design with low cost, high performance and quality. In this point, a FEM based design of partial denture is used to investigate stress distribution on the durable shape. In this paper, the structural performances of partial dentures were analyzed under three biting forces. The periodontal embedding model is introduced on behalf of the detailed supporting tissue, which is composed of dentin, cortical bone, cancellous bone and periodontal ligament. Using topology optimization, the optimal reinforcement layout of connector was obtained and the detail shape in the fixed partial denture was designed.

  • This study reconstructed the military logistics improvement project currently being implemented by ROK military as a defense logistics strategy. In addition the factors affecting the performance of the defense logistics strategy are analyzed using PLS. The significance of this study is as follows. First, the defense logistics improvement project was structured as a defense logistics strategy according to function. Second, PLS is used for performance factor analysis. Most of the existing defense researches utilized the ML structural equation. However, this study used the PLS structural equation in view of the fact that each detail project is the formation of defense logistics strategy. Third, we identified projects that have a substantial impact on defense logistics performance and those that do not. We found that inventory, process, and information strategy influenced logistics performance among defense logistics strategies. On the other hand, it was confirmed that the facility/equipment strategy had no significant effect on defense logistics performance.
