  • RTP (rapid thermal pressing), one of micro-pattern replication techniques like hot embossing, is focused on achieving shorter cycle time. DFSS(Design for Six Sigma) has been applied in order to enhance the completeness of the development process for RTP system. According to DIDOV roadmap, we derived design concepts and subsequently decided the main performances, design factors, and components for RTP system. In the design process of RTP system using finite element analysis, it was realized that its structural characteristics affect large area replicability. Optimizing structural design factors, based on CAE, it was checked out that its large area replicability could be improved in a virtual test. Finally, we have a plan to validate the large area replicability of the developed RTP system, by performing micro-pattern replication tests with polymeric sheets.

  • Eco deck plate system is a construction method that deconstruction of galvanized steel sheets is possible by integrating steel-wire-integrated girders and the galvanized steel sheets with bolts. Therefore, compared with previous steel-wire-integrated deck plates which were joined by welding, the system is acknowledged as the construction method possible management and repair. This study conducted an experimental research by manufacturing total 24 full size specimens in a same condition for 12-shape specimens by two parts to evaluate structural behaviors of the eco deck plates. In the results after the test, permissible deflection for the construction load action was shown to be values under design values and satisfactory. The processing of lattice steel wires was presented to be structurally advantageous in being manufactured by cutting downward. Also, in case of a specimen that D13 as a steel wire was used, destruction occurred at the welding part of the bottom steel wire and the lattice steel wire, so improvement measures for the welding in factory manufacture are necessary.

  • The metal front case of a mobile phone is manufactured by press forming and welding of thin metal sheets. Twisting of the frame after the forming process is one of main obstacle for the assembly with reinforcement by welding. This study introduces a method preventing twisting of the metal front case frame in press forming. The spring-back after forming produces twisting of the frame, which leads to a low structural stiffness. To reduce twisting, connectors are required to reinforce the structural stiffness of the frame. In this study, the twisting profile is evaluated using a finite element(FE) analysis for various connector shapes. The actual connector shape is determined by minimization of the frame twisting within the tolerance of the FE-analysis. To verify the validity of the proposed blank shape, a forming experiment is performed and the twisting profile is measured using a 3D laser scanning method. The dimensional accuracy is found to be within the tolerance and in good agreement with the FE-analysis.

  • Recently, the need for strengthening reinforced concrete(R.C.) structure has been increased, particularly when there is an increase in load requirements, a change in use, a degradation problem, or design/construction defects. The use of composite materials for structural repair presents several advantages and has been investigated all over the world. It is well known that the incorporation of carbon fiber sheet(CFS) with concrete is one of the most effective ways to strengthen the R.C. structure. In this papers, experimentally investigated the ductile behavior of the R.C. beams strengthened with CFS, and provided the basic data for design of R.C. beams strengthened with CFS. Tests were carried out with 15 beams ($20cm{\times}30cm{\times}240cm$) reinforced with CFS, and with parameters including and the ratio of tensile reinforcement to that of balanced condition and number of CFS. The results show that strengthened and non-strengthened beams exhibit different ductile behovior. Non-strengthened beams showed increase of ductility as amount of the tensile reinforcement decreased. However, bearing capacity of the CFS-strengthened beams are dictated by the strength of the CFS layers that a very high ductility is indicated for the beams with large number of CFS.

  • An analytical method based on the nonlinear layered finite element method is used to simulate the load-deflection behavior of strengthened beam. Beams considered in this study are the ones strengthened either with external steel plate or Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) sheets bonded to the overlay soffit or with reinforcing rebars in the overlay. The theoretically obtained load-deflections and strains of the strengthened beam are compared to the corresponding experimental values. Comparing the approximate measures on the cumulative slips, efficiencies of the repairing techniques are evaluated. Parametric studies are, then, peformed using the developed model to investigate the effects of design variables on the overal flexural behavior of the strengthened beam. Simply supported beams under monotonically increasing symmetrical loads are considered exclusively.

  • Recently, the need for strengthening reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete structure is increasing, particularly when there is an increase in load requirements, a change in use, a degradation problem, or some design/construction defects. Therefore, use of composite materials for structural repair presents several advantages and has been investigated all over the world. In this paper, the reinforced concrete slabs with epoxy - bonded AFRP sheed were experimentally investigated. Experimental data on strength. stiffness, material strain, deflection and mode of failure of strengthened slabs were obtained, and comparisons between the different flexural reinforcing schemes and reinforced concrete slabs without AFRP sheets were made It can be concluded that flexural strength of RC slabs strengthened with AFRP has increased, and that ductility of strengthened slabs has decreased.

  • It has been shown that many reinforced concrete(RC) structures designed without seismic details have experienced brittle shear failures in the beam-column joint area and may result in large permanent deformations and structural collapse. In this study, experimental investigations for RC beam-column joints strengthened with the carbon fiber-reinforced polymer(CFRP) under cyclic loadings were presented. The use of CFRP in the joint was varied to determine the effective way of improving the structural performances of RC joints. Ten RC beam-column joints were designed and tested with cyclic loadings. The experimental results showed that the use of CFRP in RC joints would be very effective solutions to improve the seismic performances of the non-seismic RC joints. All of the non-seismic design specimens strengthened with CFRP sheets showed the significant increase of strength and ductility.

  • Magnesium alloy is being used for structural material since it has high specific strength. Tubular shape was effective way for enhanced structural design. To manufacture the tube, it is necessary to weld the butted joint of both tubular formed sides. But the magnesium alloy was hardly welded with conventional welding processes. The laser welding was effective way to joint magnesium alloys because it had high weld strength and productivity compare with other welding processes. In this study, magnesium alloy sheets was formed at elevated temperature to tubular shape and welded with laser. Consequently, the magnesium alloy tube was making successful with warm forming and laser welding and bicycle frame was making with it.

  • Stainless steel sheets are widely used as the structural material for dynamic machine structures, These kinds structures used stainless steel sheets are commonly fabricated by using the gas welding, For fatigue design of gas welded joints such as various type joint. It is necessary to obtain design information on stress distribution at the weldment as well as fatigue strength of gas welded joints. Thus in this paper, ${\Delta}P-N_f$ curves were obtained by fatigue tests. and, ${\Delta}P-N_f$ curves were rearranged in the ${\Delta}{\sigma}-N_f$ relation with the hot spot stresses at the gas welded joints. Using these results, the accelerated life test(ALT) is conducted. From the experiment results, an life prediction model is derived and factors are estimated. So it is intended to obtain the useful information for the fatigue lifetime of welded joints and data analysis by statistic reliability method, to save time and cost, and to develop optimum accelerated life prediction plans.
