호텔구성원의 사회적지지에 대한 인식이 직무스트레스와 직무소진에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Social Support on Job Stress and Job Burnout : Focus on Luxury Hotel in Seoul)

  • 고객과의 서비스 접점에서 호텔구성원의 부정적인 태도는 고객의 서비스평가에 결정적인 영향을 미치기 때문에 서비스 전달과정에서 나타날 수 있는 부정적인 측면을 사전에 예방하고 관리하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 사회적지지에 대한 연구는 구성원의 심리적 건강과 조직의 유효성 및 서비스품질에 영향을 주기 때문에 폭넓은 범위에서 연구되어 왔다. 이와 관련하여 본 연구의 목적은 호텔구성원을 대상으로 사회적지지가 직무스트레스와 직무소진에 미치는 영향을 검증하는 것이다. 실증분석을 위한 자료는 서울지역 특1급 호텔구성원을 대상으로 355부의 설문지를 수집하여 실증분석에 활용하였으며, 주된 분석방법으로는 구조방정식 모형을 활용하였다. 분석 결과 첫째, 사회적지지는 직무스트레스에 유의적인 부(-)의 영향을 나타냈다. 둘째, 사회적지지는 직무소진에 유의적인 부(-)의 영향을 나타냈다. 셋째, 직무스트레스는 직무소진에 유의적인 정(+)의 영향을 나타냈다. 직무스트레스와 직무소진을 감소시키기 위해서는 호텔구성원에게 자존감과 동기부여를 제공할 수 있는 프로그램을 개발, 보급하여야 한다. 또한 구성원의 직무소진을 관리하기 위한 대안에 대하여 지속적인 논의가 필요하다.

  • 본 논문은 정보보호인력의 직무스트레스와 직무만족이 실제 이직의 선행요인인 이직의도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 실증적으로 규명하고자 하였다. 이와 함께 이직의도에 대한 인과관계에서 조직공정성이 조절하는 효과가 있는지 규명하고자 하였다. 본 실증연구는 4개 산업분야 150명 정보보호인력의 설문응답을 분석에 활용하였다. 분석 결과에 따르면, 정보보호인력이 느끼는 직무스트레스는 이직의도를 증가시키고, 직무만족은 이직의도를 감소시키는 것으로 실증되었다. 직무스트레스와 이직의도 간의 관계에서 의사소통공정성이 음의 조절효과가 실증되었다. 대규모 침해사고 등 긴급 상황 대응으로 직무스트레스가 높은 정보보호인력에게 상사나 동료가 따뜻하게 의사소통을 하는 경우 이직의도를 감소시킬 수 있다는 의사소통공정성의 조절효과는 정보보호 책임자에게 중요한 지식이다. 조직 차원에서 정보보호인력의 자발적 이직을 줄이기 위해서 직무스트레스를 낮추고, 직무만족과 의사소통공정성을 높이기 위한 노력을 해야 한다.

간호대학생의 간호전문직관에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Influencing Nursing Professionalism in Nursing Students)

  • Purpose : In order to respond to the needs of society, it is necessary for nursing students to develop into their professional roles and form a higher degree of positive nursing professionalism. This study investigated clinical practice stress, clinical practice satisfaction, academic major satisfaction, and self-esteem among nursing students, and identified factors influencing their nursing professionalism. Methods : The participants of this study were 200 nursing students who used the internet and e-mail, and who understood the purpose and methods of this study. Data were collected from June 21 to July 27, 2021. Data analysis, including the independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression, was performed using SPSS version 26.0. Results : The mean score was 3.52±.47 for nursing professionalism, 2.99±.56 for clinical practice stress, 3.35±.44 for clinical practice satisfaction, 3.75±.55 for academic major satisfaction, and 3.49±.78 for self-esteem. There were no significant differences in nursing professionalism according to general characteristics. Nursing professionalism was positively correlated with clinical practice satisfaction (r=.36, p<.001), academic major satisfaction (r=.57, p<.001), and self-esteem (r=.41, p<.001), but negatively correlated with clinical practice stress (r=-.41, p<.001). Factors influencing nursing professionalism included academic major satisfaction (𝛽=.39, p<.001) and clinical practice stress (𝛽=-.16, p=.021). These variables explained 36 % of variance in nursing professionalism (F=29.43, p<.001). Conclusion : These findings indicate that academic major satisfaction and clinical practice stress could be considered in effective nursing educational interventions to improve nursing professionalism in nursing students. Therefore, multidimensional efforts are needed to establish educational programs for nursing students aiming to enhance their nursing professionalism. In addition, these findings will be helpful for establishing various emotional control programs for the management of clinical practice stress among nursing students.

The Anti-apoptotic Effect of Ghrelin on Restraint Stress-Induced Thymus Atrophy in Mice

  • Thymic atrophy is a complication that results from exposure to many environmental stressors, disease treatments, and microbial challenges. Such acute stress-associated thymic loss can have a dramatic impact on the host's ability to replenish the necessary naïve T cell output to reconstitute the peripheral T cell numbers and repertoire to respond to new antigenic challenges. We have previously reported that treatment with the orexigenic hormone ghrelin results in an increase in the number and proliferation of thymocytes after dexamethasone challenge, suggesting a role for ghrelin in restraint stress-induced thymic involution and cell apoptosis and its potential use as a thymostimulatory agent. In an effort to understand how ghrelin suppresses thymic T cell apoptosis, we have examined the various signaling pathways induced by receptor-specific ghrelin stimulation using a restraint stress mouse model. In this model, stress-induced apoptosis in thymocytes was effectively blocked by ghrelin. Western blot analysis demonstrated that ghrelin prevents the cleavage of pro-apoptotic proteins such as Bim, Caspase-3, and PARP. In addition, ghrelin stimulation activates the Akt and Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) signaling pathways in a time/dose-dependent manner. Moreover, we also revealed the involvement of the FoxO3a pathway in the phosphorylation of Akt and ERK1/2. Together, these findings suggest that ghrelin inhibits apoptosis by modulating the stress-induced apoptotic signal pathway in the restraint-induced thymic apoptosis.

Biochemical Adaptation of Pinus pumila on Low Temperature in Mt. Seorak, Korea

  • We tested the hypothesis that alpine plants have special physiological and biochemical mechanisms in addition to their structural adaptation in order to survive under extreme conditions. The photosynthetic organs of Pinus pumila were used to examine the seasonal changes in sugar concentration, antioxidative enzyme, and lipid peroxidation. The concentrations of sucrose, glucose, fructose and reducing sugar were the highest in the leaves in April. But sugar contents in buds and inner barks did not respond sensitively on temperature change. Meanwhile superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity responded sensitively on the change of temperature and SOD in all tissues maintained high activity in April. Meanwhile anthocyanin content increased rapidly in June but the increase of anthocyanin content was not enough to prevent their tissues from the damage by the exposure of high temperature or other stress. In conclusion, under low temperature condition, P. pumila increased the concentration of soluble sugars and SOD activity in their tissues in order to overcome extreme environmental condition. But in summer, these stress defense system against high temperature might be disturbed slightly. This results in the increase of malondialdehyde (MDA) contents in three tissues by lipid peroxidation.

유아교사의 직무스트레스, 자아탄력성, 삶의 만족도의 관계 (The Relationships among Kindergarten Teachers' Job Stress, Ego-Resilience and Life Satisfaction)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 유아교사의 직무스트레스와 자아탄력성이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 확인하고 삶의 만족도의 질적 향상 방안을 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 강원도에 소재한 공·사립 유치원, 어린이집 교사 198명을 대상으로 직무스트레스, 자아탄력성, 삶의 만족도 설문지를 사용하여 응답하게 하였다. 수집된 자료를 토대로 Pearson의 적률상관관계 분석과 위계적 중다회귀분석을 실시한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아교사의 직무스트레스가 높을수록 삶의 만족도는 낮아지며, 자아탄력성이 높을수록 삶의 만족도가 높아지는 유의미한 관계가 나타났다. 특히 직무스트레스의 하위변인인 경제적 영역은 유아교사의 자아탄력성, 삶의 만족도와 유의미한 부적상관이 나타났다. 둘째, 경제적 영역과 관계탄력성, 활동성의 예측변인들이 유아교사의 삶의 만족도에 유의하게 영향을 미치며, 자아탄력성의 하위변인인 관계탄력성이 삶의 만족도에 대해 상대적으로 설명력이 가장 크게 나타났다. 이는 교사의 삶의 만족도를 높이기 위해 자아탄력성을 촉진시킬 프로그램 개발이 필요함을 시사한다.

Biological Constraints in Algal Biotechnology

  • In the past decade, considerable progress has been made in developing the appropriate biotechnology for microalgal mass cultivation aimed at establishing a new agro-industry. This review points out the main biological constraints affecting algal biotechnology outdoors and the requirements for making this biotechnology economically viable. One of them is the availability of a wide variety of algal species and improved strains that favorably respond to varying environmental conditions existing outdoors. It is thus just a matter of time and effort before a new methodology like genetic engineering can and will be applied in this field as well. The study of stress physiology and adaptation of microalgae has also an important application in further development of the biotechnology for mass culturing of microalgae. In outdoor cultures, cells are exposed to severe changes in light and temperature much faster than the time scale re-quired for the cells to acclimate. A better understanding of those parameters and the ability to rapidly monitor those conditions will provide the growers with a better knowledge on how to optimize growth and productivity. Induction of accumulation of high value products is associated with stress conditions. Understanding the physiological response may help in providing a better production system for the desired product and, at a later stage, give an insight of the potential for genetic modification of desired strains. The potential use of microalgae as part of a biological system for bioremediation/detoxification and wastewater treatment is also associated with growing the cells under stress conditions. Important developments in monitoring and feedback control of the culture behavior through application of on-line chlorophyll fluorescence technique are in progress. Understanding the process associated with those unique environmental conditions may help in choosing the right culture conditions as well as selecting strains in order to improve the efficiency of the biological process.

말의 운동 스트레스에 관한 새로운 생물지표 (A novel biomarker of exercise-induced stress in horses)

  • Exercise is one of the most common stressors in horses. Although various physiological parameters such as cortisol respond to exercise, there is no reliable parameter for the measurement of exercise-induced stress in sport horses. This study was performed to discover a new biomarker with high sensitivity for exercise-induced stress. The expression of fos mRNA was increased more than 10-fold in horse blood samples collected after an hour of exercise, as compared with before the exercise. The plasma cortisol levels were also increased after the exercise, but only by about two-fold. The fos mRNA levels were well-correlated with plasma cortisol concentrations. These findings suggest that fos mRNA expression in blood may be useful for the measurement of exercise-induced stress in horses.

Microbusinesses and Occupational Stress: Emotional Demands, Job Resources, and Depression Among Korean Immigrant Microbusiness Owners in Toronto, Canada

  • Objectives: While occupational stress has long been a central focus of psychological research, few studies have investigated how immigrant microbusiness owners (MBOs) respond to their unusually demanding occupation, or how their unresolved occupational stress manifests in psychological distress. Based on the job demands-resources model, this study compared MBOs to employees with regard to the relationships among emotional demands, job resources, and depressive symptoms. Methods: Data were derived from a cross-sectional survey of 1288 Korean immigrant workers (MBOs, professionals, office workers, and manual workers) aged 30 to 70, living in Toronto and surrounding areas. Face-to-face interviews were conducted between March 2013 and November 2013. Results: Among the four occupational groups, MBOs appeared to endure the greatest level of emotional demands, while reporting relatively lower levels of job satisfaction and job security; but MBOs reported the greatest job autonomy. The effect of emotional demands on depressive symptoms was greater for MBOs than for professionals. However, an inspection of stress-resource interactions indicated that though MBOs enjoyed the greatest autonomy, the protective effects of job satisfaction and security on the psychological risk of emotional demands appeared to be more pronounced for MBOs than for any of the employee groups. Conclusions: One in two Korean immigrants choose self-employment, most typically in family-owned microbusinesses that involve emotionally taxing dealings with clients and suppliers. However, the benefits of job satisfaction and security may protect MBOs from the adverse mental health effects of job stress.

정보보안 정책 유형과 보안 스트레스가 정보보안 행동에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Effects of Information Security Policy Types and Information Security Stress on Information Security Behavior)

  • 기술 발달에 따른 기존 보안정책의 한계에도 불구하고 기업은 폐쇄적 보안정책을 유지함으로써 변화에 능동적으로 대응하지 못하고 있다. 본 연구는 정보보안 정책을 3가지 유형인 규제형 정책, 권고형 정책 그리고 고지형 정책으로 분류하였다. 분류된 각 정책의 유형은 확장된 계획행동이론을 적용하여 조직 구성원의 정보보안 정책 준수행동에 주는 영향을 규명하고 보안 스트레스의 조절효과를 살펴보았다. 각 요인들 간에 영향을 미치는 관계를 분석하기 위해서는 구조방정식모델링 기법인 SmartPLS 2.0과 SPSS 21.0을 활용하였다. 연구 결과 규제형, 권고형 그리고 고지형 정보보안 정책은 조직 구성원의 정보보안정책 준수행동에 영향을 주었으며 보안 스트레스는 계획된 행동이론의 선행요인인 정보보안 순응태도와 정보보안에 대한 주관적 규범에 영향을 주었다. 본 연구를 통해 기업의 정보보안 정책에 다양한 유형이 적용될 수 있음과 보안스트레스가 구성원의 정보보안 행동에 영향을 줄 수 있음이 제시되었다.
