The subjects exhibit significantly highest level of 'the characteristics of task and participation in decision making factor'. And the mean score of 'the avoid coping strategies' was higher than 'the control coping strategies'. The main factor that affected the occupational stress responses was 'the physio-environmental factor' and it was explained 15.6% out of the total variance of the stress responses. Also, it would be explained 29% out of the total variance of the stress responses with 'the characteristics of task/participation in decision making factor', sex, social support, and 'extra-organizational stressor'. In conclusion. For developing the stress management program in workplace, 'the physical environmental factor' and 'the characteristics of task and participation in decision making factor' should be considered. Also, It should be identified the direct and indirect paths among factors that significantly related factors to the occupational stress of workers further more.

  • Meat quality includes technological quality attributes, consumer acceptance, and credence characteristics. In terms of credence characteristics, animal welfare is one of the most interesting topics to both consumers and the livestock industry. Consumers prefer meat produced from livestock that has been raised in low stress and ecofriendly environments. The livestock industry cares about animal welfare to meet the requirements of consumers. Animal welfare is closely associated with the stress and physiological response of livestock to stress. Moreover, stress just before slaughter (i.e., pre-slaughter stress) has negative effects on not only animal welfare but also ultimately on meat quality. It is well-documented that pre-slaughter stress can influence ante- and post-mortem biological changes of the muscles, especially their metabolic properties and metabolites. The metabolic properties and metabolites contents also can modulate the postmortem changes of the muscles. Conversion of muscles to meat during postmortem is a very important process because it determines ultimately the meat quality. Thus, understanding pre-slaughter stress and physiological responses to stress in farm animals is important for animal welfare and meat quality. The purpose of this paper was to examine the concept of stress, physiological responses to stress, measurement of stress, and the relationships between stress indices and meat quality traits.

  • In this paper, the characteristics of excessive horizontal stress components in Korea were studied using the in-situ hydraulic fracturing stress measurement data over five hundred in 110 individual test boreholes. Based on the in-situ testing data, the magnitude and orientation of the horizontal stress component and variation of stress ratio (K) with depth were investigated. And also horizontal stress magnitude versus depth relationships and distribution limits of stress ratio components were suggested. For the subsurface space above 310 m depth in the entire territory, the stress ratio has a tendency to diminish and be stabilized with depth, but for some areas, it was revealed that the excessive horizontal stress fields with stress ratio close to 3.0 below 200 m in depth have formed. The result of investigation for excessive horizontal stress regions indicates that there exist several regions above 300 m in depth where localized excessive horizontal stresses enough to induce potentially brittle failure around future openings have formed.

  • Residual stress is defined as a minimum stress with a large displacement of specimens and the residual stress after peak shear stress appears with displacement volume but there is no provision to select the residual stress. In the previous study, residual stress was recorded when the change of shear load is small in the condition of the strain more than 15%. But, in this study, hyperbolic function((No Abstract.see full/text), b=experimental constant) of soil test is adapted to joint of rock and the propriety is investigated. In a landslide and landsliding of artificial slope, wedge failure of tunnel with a large displacement, tests are simulated from peak stress to residual stress for safety analysis. But now. direct shear stress and triaxial compressive tests are usually performed to find out characteristics of shear stress about joint. Although these tests get a small displacement, that data of peak stress and residual stress are used for safety analysis. In this study, we tried to determine failure criteria for joints of rock using ring shear test machine. The residual stress following shear behavior was determined by the result of ring shear test and direct shear test. In conclusion, after comparing the results of the two test, we found that cohesion(c) and internal friction angle(ø) of ring shear test are 30% and 22% respectively of those of the direct shear test.
