Background: The patients of facial hyperhidrosis have been known that they had much difficulties in interpersonal relationships and social activities due to excessive hidrosis when they were in stress, hot weather, or having meals. Previous drug therapy and stellate ganglion block have only temporary effects. The surgical method, $T_1$ sympathetomy has the risk of Hornor's syndrome. For that reasons, the sympathicotomy of proximal and distal portions of $T_2$ sympathetic ganglion with electroresectoscope used in transurethral resection seemed to be appropriate procedure, and we would like to report the results of our procedure. Method: Under the general anesthesia with semi-sitting position, and the portal was made through the small incision along the upper border of the 4th rib at the crossing point of mid-axillary line. After the partial collapse of lung by insufflation of 300 to 500 ml of $CO_2$, $T_2$ sympathetic ganglion was identified and resected proximally and distally with electro-cauterization. Finally the lung was expanded by limiting flow until the airway pressure reached 30 to 40 cm$H_2O$, and the wound was closed after removal of electroresectoscope. Result: There was no postoperative complication requiring surgical interventions. The facial sweating was stopped immediately after the operation and all the patients appeared to be satisfied. Conclusion: $T_2$ sympathicotomy with TUR electroresectoscope is thought be the minimal invasive and highly successful method in the treatment of facial hyperhidrosis. But longer terms follow-up will be needed to prove this result.

The design dimension may not be satisfactory at the final stage due to the welding during the assembly stage, leading to cutting or adding the components in large structure constructions. The productivity is depend on accuracy of the welding quality especially at assembly stage. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to decide the component dimension during each assembly stage considering the above situations during the designing stage by exactly predicting welding deformation before the welding is done. Further, if the system that predicts whether welding deformation is equipped, it is possible to take measures to reduce deformation through FE analysis, helping in saving time for correcting work by arresting the parts which are prone to having welding deformation. For the FE analysis to predict the deformation of a large steel structure, calculation time, modeling, constraints in each assembly stage and critical welding length have to be considered. In case of fillet welding deformation, around 300 mm is sufficient as a critical welding length of the specimen as proposed by the existing researches. However, the critical length in case of butt welding is around 1000 mm, which is far longer than that suggested in the existing researches. For the external constraint, which occurs as the geometry of structure is changed according to the assembly stage, constraint factor is drawn from the elastic FE analysis and test results, and the magnitude of equivalent force according to constraint is decided. The comparison study for the elastic FE analysis result and measurement for the large steel structure based on the above results reveals that the analysis results are in the range of 80-118% against measurement values, both matching each other well. Further, the deformation of fillet welding in the main plate among the total block occupies 66-89%, making welding deformation in the main plate far larger than the welding deformation in the longitudinal and transverse girders.

When blocks are supported on a dock, huge reaction forces concentrated at the supports cause structural damage owing to local stress concentrations. Thus, the supports should be arranged to avoid local failure from the reaction forces by redistributing those forces. Docking analyses to determine the proper blocks and their support arrangements are introduced so that the local stresses are minimized to warrant the safety of the docking supports. Local stresses enforced by the support arrangement should be evaluated by finite element analysis (FEA). However, it is difficult to consider an accurate 3D geometry of the blocks in the finite element model because the structural design information is too complicated to determine within several days using the FEA model. This paper presents a simplified FE model to evaluate the safety of the arrangement of supports using a simplified grillage element. The grillage element can be efficiently used to obrain the reaction forces in docking analysis becasuse the reaction forces at the supports are enough to assess the safety of block. Since a simplified grillage model of the entire ship cannot accurately calculate the local stresses, an optimized modeling method based on the grillage element was introduced. The local reaction forces obtained by the proposed approach and three-dimensional FEA were discussed for typical types of ships. It is shown that the reaction forces obtained by the present grillage model are in reasonably good agreement with the FEA model.
The purpose of this study was to use fiber-optic nasolaryngoscope to find out differences in laryngeal behavior between persons who stutter(PS) and those who do not stutter(NS) upon their utterance. To meet the goal above, this study took 5 NS and 5 PS respectively as a part of sampling, so that they were all asked to join an experiment hereof. As a result, this study came to the following findings: First, there was not any significant difference in laryngeal behavior of uttering spoken languages between stuttering group and control. Second, there were some differences in laryngeal behavior of repetition and prolongation, which were a sort of disfluency revealed in the utterance of nonfluent spoken languages between stuttering group and control. Third, as reported by prior studies, it was found that there were differences in laryngeal abehavior of stutterer group's nonfluent spoken languages depending upon stuttering types. In this study, a variety of laryngeal behavior unreported in prior studies could be found. In addition, it was notable that stutterers showed different laryngeal behavior depending on their personal stuttering types. On block condition, Subject 1 showed laryngeal behavior of fAB, INT and fAD; Subject 2 showed laryngeal behavior of fAB, fAD and rAD; Subject 3 showed laryngeal behavior of fAD and rAD; Subject 4 showed only laryngeal behavior of fAD; and Subejct 5 showed laryngeal behavior of fAB, fAD and rAD. Summing up, these findings imply that when stutterers utter nonfluent words, they may reveal a variety of laryngeal behavior depending on their personal stuttering types. Moreover, it is found that there are more or less differences in the utterance of nonfluent spoken languages between NS and stuttering ones. In particular, it is interesting that one common trait of nonfluent spoken languages uttered by PS is evidently excessive laryngeal stress, no matter which type of stuttering they reveal.

Ammunition magazine, which is installed on the ground, has difficulty in protecting from the external attack, and accidental explosion should cause great damage to the life and property. For these reasons, it is needed to develop underground magazine that it has the advantages of safety, security and maintenance. This paper introduce the design case for blasting facilities, which should resist blasting pressure, as well as layout of underground magazine, which takes a safety for explosion and a working space of loading/unloading machine into consideration. On the layout, in case of ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ underground magazine, put three storage chambers in position almost parallel with principle stress direction, where less effected on discontinuity and hard rock area. Also, secured safe distance according to safety criteria of the Defense Ministry, and verified suitable layout by trace simulation for loading/unloading machine on working stage. Blasting design was performed on evaluation of maximum blast pressure between donar and acceptor chambers, and design condition for blast door, valve, etc. Diminution facilities against explosion, such as thrust block or debris trap, determined its size after plan in accordance with blasting criteria and calculation by structural analysis.
Stings of jellyfish, which frequently occur in a warm season, cause severe pain, inflammation and sometimes irreversible results such as the death. Harmful venoms from jellyfish, therefore, have been studied for finding the therapeutic agents to relieve pain or to neutralize toxic components. However, it is still unclear if and how jellyfish venom reveal neuronal toxicity even though pain induction seems to result from the activation of nociceptors such as nerve endings. In this study, using HT-22 cell line, we investigated neurotoxic effects of the venom of Chrysaora pacifica (CpV) which appears in South-East ocean of Korea. In 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide assay, CpV significantly reduced the viability of HT-22 cells in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, in 2',7'-Dichlorofluorescin diacetate fluorescence test under the culture condition lacking dominant inflammatory factors, CpV remarkably increased the production of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS). Reduced responsive fluorescence to Rhodamine123 and increased expression of intracellular cytochrome c were also observed in HT-22 cells treated with CpV. These indicate that CpV-reduced viability of HT-22 cells may be due to the activation of apoptotic signalings mediated with oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction. Furthermore, removing Ca2+ ion or adding N-acetyl-Lcystein remarkably blocked the CpV effect to reduce the viability of HT-22 cells. The findings in this study clearly demonstrate that CpV may activate Ca2+-mediated ROS signalings and mitochondrial dysfunction resulting in neuronal damage or death, and suggest that blocking Ca2+ pathway is a therapeutic approach to possibly block toxic effects of jellyfish venoms.

The present study examined the reversal cyclic flexural behavior of walls with jacket section approach for seismic strengthening through forming the boundary elements at both ends of the wall. The prestressed wire ropes were used for the lateral reinforcement to confine the boundary element of the wall. The main parameter investigated was the height of the jacket section for strengthening. The limit height of the strengthening jacket section was determined by comparing the moment distributions between the existing and strengthened walls. Test results showed that the examined jacket section approach was significantly effective in enhancing the flexural resistance of walls, indicating 46% higher stiffness at peak strength and 210% greater work damage indicator, compared with the flexural performance of the unstrengthened wall. The ductility of the strengthened walls was insignificantly affected by the height of the jacket section when the height is greater than twice the wall length. The flexural capacity of the strengthened walls was 22% higher than the predictions obtained using the equivalent stress block specified in ACI 318-14.
An explosion modeling technique was developed by using the spherical discrete element code, PFC3D, which can be used to model the dynamic stress wave propagation phenomenon. The modeling technique is simply based on an idea that the explosion pressure should be applied to a PFC3D particle assembly not in the form of an external force (body force), but in the form of a contact force (surface force). According to this concept, the explosion pressure is applied to the wall particles by the scheme of radius expansion/contraction of inner-hole particles. The output wall force is compared to the input hole pressure in every time step, and a correction routine is activated to control the radius multiplier of the inner-hole particles. A comparative blast simulation far a cement mortar block of $80\times90\times80mm$ was conducted by using the conventional explosion modeling method and the new one. The results of the simulation are presented in a qualitative fashion.
One of commonly physical phenomena encountered in pump sump systems in which its significant influence to the hydraulic performance of pump system plays an important role in the field of fluid engineering, is the appearance of free surface and submerged vortices. In this paper, a study of the vortices behavior and their formative mechanism of asymmetry is considered in this paper by using numerical approach. The Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations and k-omega Shear Stress Transport turbulence model used to describe the properties of turbulent flows, in company with VOF multiphase model, are implemented by Fluent code with multi-block structured grid system. In the numerical simulation, the calculated elevation of air-water interface and vortex core contours are used to classify visually surface vortices as well as submerged vortices. It is shown that the free surface vortex is identified by the concavity of liquid region from the free surface and swirling flow at that own plane. To investigate the distinctive behavior of these vortices corresponding to each given flow rate at the same water level, some numerical testing of them are considered here in such a manner that the flow pattern of surface vortex are obtained similarly to the obtained results from experiment. Furthermore, the influence due to the change of grid refinement and the variation of depth of the concavity are also considered in this paper. From that, these influential factors will be implemented to design a good pump sump with higher performance in the future.
This experimental investigation was conducted to examine the behavior of eight a third scale columns made of high-strength concrete(HSC). The columns were subjected to constant axial load corresponding to target value of 30 percent of the column axial load capacity and a cyclic horizontal load-inducing reversed bending moment. The variables studied in this research are the volumetric ratio of transverse reinforcement(Ps=1.58, 2.25 %), tie configuration(hoop-type, cross-type, diagonal-type) and tie yield strength(fy=5,600, 7,950 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$). Test results indicated that the flexural strength of all the columns did not exceed calculated flexural capacities based on the equivalent concrete stress block used in current design code. Columns with 42 percent higher amounts of transverse reinforcement than that required by seismic provisions of ACI 318-99 were shown ductile behavior. With axial load of 30 percent of the axial load capacity, the use of high-strength steel as transverse reinforcement may lead to equal or higher ductility than would be achieved with low-strength steel.
