The amended law of railway safety in Korea has recently come into effect in order to strengthen the railway safety management system. The new law, which took effect March 1, 2014, will implement stricter oversight of railway companies. As a result, a company that manufactures railroad system or components for domestic use must obtain an approval in accordance with the technical specifications of manufacturer approval. Although Korea had established the legal system in enforcing railway safety, the government wants the companies continue to develop the more improved safety systems until they gain competitive edge on the world class railway manufacturers. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of the technical specifications for manufacturer approval in International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS), which is the global standard. This paper also proposes measures and guidelines that would help Korean manufacturers those who want further develop their safety management systems, as a prerequisite for them to obtain the manufacturer approval.

This study uses group attachment theory to examine how group attachment security affects individual creativity through self-efficacy. 151 students participated in an experimental study. Participants were randomly assigned to either a group attachment security prime or control condition group. The results reveal that (1) group attachment security was positively related to individual self-efficacy, which in turn positively influenced individual creativity. (2) Individual self-efficacy partially mediated the relationship between group attachment security and individual creativity. Synthesizing theories of group attachment theory, self-efficacy, and creativity, this study tested a theoretical mechanism linking group attachment security with creativity via self-efficacy. The results of this research suggest that many firms should improve the organizational culture of the perspectives of communication and cohesiveness to release creative ideas and strengthen individual self-efficacy more effectively. Implications of these results and future directions for further study are discussed.

Recently, most banks in Korea provide internet banking services for customers, and the number of internet banking users is growing rapidly. However, the percentage of internet banking from the perspective of total banking transactions is only about 8.8%. In this thesis we identify customers' perceived value of internet banking and the relationship between customer value and customer loyalty. Furthermore, we illustrate the role of internet banking as the strategic channel of customer loyalty. We performed an empirical data analysis on internet banking users. The results showed that the relationship between customer value and customer loyalty is significant and customer loyalty toward internet banking sites has a positive effect on customer loyalty toward banks. The implications of this study are that internet banking sites should concentrate on delivering customer value such as ease of use, playfulness, and trust, and thereby strengthen customer loyalty.

As brand is increasingly important as a competitive source and information and communication technology based on Internet is rapidly advanced, many companies have paid attention to online brand community that is expected to help strengthen the customer's awareness on their products and services. This study suggests four factors-interaction, purpose, playfulness, reward-that facilitate online brand community commitment, and examines the effect of online brand community commitment on brand loyalty from the perspective of social identity theory. For this purpose, 243 sample data were collected from three online brand community sites and the proposed research model was empirically tested using LISREL 8.7 based on structural equation model. In conclusion, this study proposed theoretical and practical implications along with its limitations and future studies.

The Prefabricated Vertical Drain(PVD) method is most widely used technique to accelerate the consolidation process and to strengthen the weak clayey soil in situ. Uncertainty in the consolidation process via the Prefabricated Vertical Drain(PVD), and the effects of uncertainty on the design of PVDs, are investigated in this paper, Among the effect factors, the coefficient of horizontal(radial) consolidation, C$\sub$h/, is the most important and sensitivity analysis of the degree of consolidation with respect to the other effect factors are carried out. For the reliable determination of uncertain quantities, the laboratory and in-situ tests are carried out. Henceforth, probability analysis that take the uncertainty into account are executed and reliable design method is provided in practice.

Due to design codes and regulations and the variety of building plans in Turkey, it is very often seen that band-type windows are left for ventilation and lightening of the basements of buildings which are used for various purposes such as workplaces and storage. Therefore when the necessary support measures cannot be given, short columns are subjected to very high shear forces and so damage occurs. One of the precautions to avoid the damage of short column mechanisms in buildings where band-type windows are in the basement is to strengthen the short columns with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP). In this study, the effect of the FRP retrofitting process of the short columns around band-windowed structures, which are found especially in basement areas, is analyzed in accordance with Turkish Seismic Code 2007 (TSC 2007). Three different models which are bare frame, frame with short columns and retrofitted short columns with FRP, are created and analyzed according to TSC 2007 performance analysis methods to understand the effects of band windows in basements and the effect of FRP retrofitting.

In order for the analysis of effect in the respective preventive measures which is being carried out by a small & medium sized company against any potential accident, this research relates to the followings: We investigated the situation of an accident occurred in the company in which his obligation of selecting a safety manager is exempted, in accordance with the industrial safety & healthcare & enforcement ordinance, enforcement rule. We investigated the situation of an accident occurred in the company which entrusted the specialized organization with his own safety control notwithstanding it is free from an obligation to have any safety manager for aiming at the comparison and analysis of the outcome. The economic and preventive effect of industrial accident has been compared and analyzed in order to strengthen the obligation of selecting a safety manager.

Strengthening of civil infrastructure with advanced composites have recently become one of the most popular methods. The use of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) strips plates and fabric for strengthening of reinforced concrete structures has well established design guidelines and standards. Research on the application of FRP composites to steel structures compared to concrete structures is limited, especially for shear strengthening applications. Whereas, there is a need for cost-effective system that could be used to strengthen steel high-way bridge girders to cope with losses due to corrosion in addition to continuous demands for increasing traffic loads. In this study, a parametric finite element study is performed to investigate the effect of applying thick CFRP strips diagonally on webs of plate girders on the shear strength of end-web panels. The study focuses on illustrating the effect of several geometric parameters on nominal shear strength. Hence, a formula is developed to determine the enhancement of shear strength gained upon the application of CFRP strips.

This study examined the association among practical teaching competence (PTC) and teaching efficacy (TE), and explored the mediation effects of theoretical teaching competence (TTC) between the PTC and TE of Practical Arts (Technology and Home Economics Education) teachers. Data were collected from the 301 survey responses completed by elementary, middle, and high school teachers. All teachers showed high levels of PTC, TTC, and TE. Elementary school teachers perceived higher PTC than middle and high school teachers. PTC, TTC, TE showed significant effect in regards to teacher's age and teaching career. Using multiple regression analysis, this study found that TTC fully mediated PTC and TE of elementary school teachers. For middle and high school teachers, there was a partial mediation effect of TTC in the relationship between PTC and TE. This study suggests that teacher education programs should develop a program that can enhance teaching efficacy by cultivating TTC and support teachers who want to strengthen competence, and more practical opportunities to practice teaching.

This study empirically examines the link between marketing knowledge management and innovation performance focusing on the moderating role of business environmental volatility. We define marketing knowledge management as the integration of knowledge generation, knowledge dissemination and knowledge storage. Using a unique data set that consists of 439 employees at 156 firms in China, we find that knowledge dissemination and knowledge storage have a positive effect on innovation performance. Also found is the negative moderating effect of business environmental volatility on innovation performance. Our findings suggest that firms should strengthen their marketing knowledge management to improve innovation performance and stay flexible to cope with the ever-changing and often volatile market environments.
