LCD business has grown up changing its strategy and main focus by the order of NBPC, MNT and TV for decades. The presence of PDP drives TV market more demanding. The performance of LCD is required to be improved to struggle against PDP. To strengthen the competitiveness in the market, IPS and VA have evolved in various structures such as H-IPS, AS-IPS, and S-PVA. The introduction of new structures which have multi domains requires the interpretation of disclination area. We developed a new simulation tool based on fast Q-tensor method. It enables us to predict the shape of disclinations and the resulting optical properties. We applied this simulation tool to the development of 26-inch wide monitor having H-IPS mode.

CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integration) has been recognized as a critical method to validate the competitiveness of software development organization since its introduction. CMMI imposes additional requirements on the software development organization which has been established and certified to the ISO 9001 quality management system. This paper reviews the similarities and differences between CMMI and ISO 9001. This paper also examines what ate required to deploy the CMMI on the aircraft software development organization which has been certified to ISO 9001. The results of this study will help software development organization to provide the direction for implementing CMMI. Some suggestions are presented to identify and strengthen the weak portion of the software process quality management system.

Today, automobile world market is highly competitive. In order to strengthen the competitiveness, quality of automobile is recognized as important and efforts are being made to improve the quality of manufactured components. The directional ability of automobile has influenced on driver directly and hence it must be solved on the preferential basis. In the present research an automated vision system has been developed th inspect the front chassis module. To interpret the inspection data obtained for front chassis module, new interpreting algorithm have been developed. Previously the control of tolerance front chassis module was done manually. With the help of the new algorithm developed, the dimension is calculated automatically to check whether the front chassis module is within the tolerance limit or not.

TFT-LCD process has two advantages as compared with the semiconductor-process. It is that cycle time is short and number of the final products are small. But it needs complicated inspection / assembly line to be treated manually and much higher labor costs in the TFT-LCD process. Also, It is necessary to build PICS(Production Information and Control System) which is automated and intelligent. In this paper, an automated process of LCD module assembly line that can increase productivity and reduce the cost of production to strengthen the competitiveness corresponding with global market is planned in comparison with its manual/semi-auto. It is noted that The automated line for COG$\sim$FOG process replacing with the existing facilities had the following effects; the productivity is increased to about 1.5 times and labor cost reduced 85%. In addition, whole assembly line can be short and simple.

For the remarkable enhancement of high-speed rail passenger services, a system which provides various multimedia contents and Internet search functions was designed. The system gets inputs from a passenger and displays various multimedia contents on the touch sensitive LCD panel attached on a passenger seat. This kind of service is new in Korea and not easy to find in other countries, either. In this paper, we presented a design of a system which provides not only one-way broadcasting services but also searching capability of various information interactively. Informations to be provided are train schedule, transfer information, tour information, E-books, movies, music, ets. Successful completion of the system development in the following years is expected to strengthen international competitiveness of Korean railway industry.

Purpose - This study reviews changes in the steel export-import structure between Korea and Japan using a trade related index; it focuses on analyzing comparative advantage based on time-series analysis statistics data using the trade intensity index (TII), revealed comparative advantage index (RCA), and trade specialization index (TSI). Research design, data, and methodology - In terms of their economic phase, Korea and Japan have a mutually complementary character. Therefore, this study aims to understand each country's trade structure to strengthen Korea-Japan economic cooperation, examine trade drawbacks, analyze factors that affect trade, and identify ways to improve and expand trade. Results - The results indicate immense potential for mutual cooperation and complementariness, which will yield guaranteed adequate profits comparable to those of any regional economic integrated community. Conclusion - From our viewpoint, Northeast economic cooperation can facilitate industry technological cooperation with Japanese partners in the prevailing environment that is characterized by increasing competition among industries and the need to secure stable resource supplies as well as the expansion of the export market and diversification, which can have significant positive implications.

The successful knowledge and information based companies facilitate to restructure the industry and strengthen the national competitiveness in the future. The advent of information age provides us new challenge because the information breakthrough can play a pivotal role in terms of knowledge transfer in the human resource management. This research focuses on best practices of human management and contrasting the human resource strategy of Japanese and American firms respectively, Based on this, we suggest the strategic alternatives of the described HR problems as well as the way of effective human resource management for Korean venture firms. We have reviewed the previous international and domestic literatures in details to understand HR liabilities of newness of venture firms in terms of the population ecology. The objective of this research is to solve the HR problems that Korean firms faced with.

The object of this thesis is to evaluate performance of Industry Complex of Rural Areas Policy and to suggest solutions to solve problems of the policy and development plans for Industry Complex of Rural Areas in Korea. The Industry Complex of Rural Areas Policy has contributed to increase of income and growth of industries in farming areas. Since business environment has been changing rapidly and competition has been getting fierce, Korean small business in rural are as need to develop new strategies to strengthen their competitiveness. Therefore, this thesis will suggest public programs to support for development of Korean small businesses in rural areas. The suggestions are as below 1) plans to form funds to provide financial aid to small business in rural areas. Specific plans to raise funds for public programs that would be executed by National Industry Complex of Rural Areas Association are included. 2) plans to improve abilities of SBCs to develop technologies 3) plans to establish marketing channels for SBCs in rural areas. 4) plans to create systems to promote restructuring in Industry Complex of Rural Area.

Nowadays, IT becomes one of the core competencies in a business. So defining appropriate responsibilities & roles of IT human resources as well as setting the professionalism of them is getting more important. However, there are lots of problems between the supply and the demand of IT human resource. The efforts to arrange workers who have expert knowledge and skill in right place are needed to strengthen national competitiveness. Recently, several leading countries are setting IT skill standards to solve such problems. Therefore, this paper aims at analyzing IT skill standards of developed countries such as ITSS of Japan, SFIA of United Kingdom, and SSIT of USA. By doing comparative analysis of current status of Korea with them, we derive some meaningful insights to develop a national IT skill standard.

Recently, there has been a rapid increase of interest in u-Health systems or instruments. The importance of testbeds has been discussed deeply also. However, beyond laboratory or ward environments, testbeds covering metropolitan area cannot be found easily. Moreover, there has been few papers which discuss the results of testbed operations for various instruments in different age groups. In this paper, the results of testbed which operated in Daegu metropolitan area are discussed and improvement directions to strengthen the competitiveness are proposed using user analysis. In particular, the results of trial services using the u-Life support instruments (medication reminder, falling safety phone, bio-patch and shirts, etc) for super aging societies in the near future are discussed.
