In this study, the extreme learning machine and deep learning models were devised to estimate the bond strength of corroded reinforcement in concrete. The six inputs and one output were used in this study. The compressive strength, concrete cover, bond length, steel type, diameter of steel bar, and corrosion level were selected as the input variables. The results of bond strength were used as the output variable. Moreover, the Analysis of variance (Anova) was used to find the effect of input variables on the bond strength of corroded reinforcement in concrete. The prediction results were compared to the experimental results and each other. The extreme learning machine and the deep learning models estimated the bond strength by 99.81% and 99.99% accuracy, respectively. This study found that the deep learning model can be estimated the bond strength of corroded reinforcement with higher accuracy than the extreme learning machine model. The Anova results found that the corrosion level was found to be the input variable that most affects the bond strength of corroded reinforcement in concrete.
Self-leveling material(SLM) is one of the floor finishing materials which make flat surface like as water level by itself in a short time. So it is possible to increase construction speed and enhance economical efficiency. In this study, author intended to develop SLM for the industrial warehouse and factory loading heavy weight machinery and vehicles. The demanded properties for this type of SLM are above 20mm of flow value and above 300kgf/cm2 of 28-days compressive strength. To possess demended strength and fluidity, SLM have to be composed of many types of binders and chemical additives. So it is difficult to decide suitable mixing proportion of composition materials. In this study, author investigated the weight percentage effect of main composition materials for high-strength self-leveling material, by experimental design such as tables of orthogonal arrays and simplex design, and by statistical analysis such as analysis of variance and analysis of response surface. Variables of experiments were ordinary portland cement(OPC), alumina cement(AC), anhydrous gypsum(AG), lime stone(LS) and sand, and properties of tests were fluidity of fresh state and strength of hardened state. Results of this study are showed that suitable mix proportions of binders for the high strength self-leveling materials are two groups. One is 78~85.5% OPC, 7.5~9.5% AC, 9~12.5% AG and the other is 72.5~78% OPC, 9~12.5% AC, 13~l5% AG.
The purpose of this paper is to develop a prediction model for the compressive strength of waste LCD glass applied in concrete by analyzing a series of laboratory test results, which were obtained in our previous study. The hyperbolic function was used to perform the nonlinear-multivariate regression analysis of the compressive strength prediction model with the following parameters: water-binder ratio w/b, curing age t, and waste glass content G. According to the relative regression analysis, the compressive strength prediction model is developed. The calculated results are in accord with the laboratory measured data, which are the concrete compressive strengths of different mix proportions. In addition, a coefficient of determination $R^2$ value between 0.93 and 0.96 and a mean absolute percentage error MAPE between 5.4% and 8.4% were obtained by regression analysis using the predicted compressive analysis value, and the test results are also excellent. Therefore, the predicted results for compressive strength are highly accurate for waste LCD glass applied in concrete. Additionally, this predicted model exhibits a good predictive capacity when employed to calculate the compressive strength of washed glass sand concrete.
Purpose: This study empirically examines the relations among corporate performance, technology, and corporate capabilities for service companies to find factors that could affect the competitiveness of the service industry. Most study on technology in the service industry have been conducted in developed countries, and yet there exist not sufficient empirical reviews. Research design, data and methodology: This paper, using rare empirical data, examines Korea's service industry and aims to make an academic and managerial contribution to the understanding of the relation between corporate competence and performance. This study analyzes 567 Korean Domestic Companies in Non-manufacturing and Service Industry, using the 2020 Detailed Survey of Venture Businesses (2500) data. Frequency analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis are performed. Results: Results show, Hypothesis 1 that internal competence has positive influence on technological strength, is supported. However, Hypothesis 2 that technological strength mediates between internal competence and business performance, Hypothesis 3 that external competence has positive influence on technological strength and Hypothesis 4 that technological strength mediates between external competence and business performance are all partially supported/rejected. Conclusions: This study suggests that technological strength is an important factor that affects both market share and sales. And mediating effect of technology strength emphasized in market share. However, in managing sales, more cautious approach and a more detailed analysis are needed..
In this study, analysis and design programs of bending of RC beams strengthened with fiber sheets are developed by using Visual Basic Language. The program consists two groups, ultimate strength method and nonlinear flexural analysis method. Ultimate strength method regards concrete compressive stress as a rectangular stress block and do not consider tensile stress of concrete and load-deflection curves. On the other hand, nonlinear flexural analysis considers tensile stress of concrete, load-deflection curves, state of stress distribution and failure strain of strengthening material. Also, the analysis method used in this study regards nonlinear flexural stress as compressive stress of concrete. This program can be a good tool for determining the bending strength of strengthened RC beams and estimating the amount of fiber sheets for practical use.
Background: Prolonged standing during work causes a lower extremity pain and disorders. Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is one of the common diagnoses of the knee pain. Although the etiology of PFPS is not completely understood, it is considered to be multifactorial. Objects: The purpose of this study was to investigate difference in strength of knee muscles, quadriceps:hamstring muscles strength ratio (Q:H ratio), asymmetry ratio of knee muscles strength and dorsiflexion range of motion (ROM) between standing workers with and without PFPS. Methods: Twenty-eight standing workers with PFPS and 26 age-, height-, and weight-matched standing workers without PFPS participated in this study. A tension sensor measured knee muscle strength, and motion sensor measured dorsiflexion ROM. The asymmetry ratio of knee muscles was calculated by a specific formula using the knee muscles strength of the dominant side and the sound side. An independent t-test was used to identify significant differences in the strength, ROM, Q:H ratio, and asymmetry ratio between the PFPS and normal groups. Results: The standing worker with PFPS have significantly lower dorsiflexion ROM (p < 0.000) and higher asymmetry ratio of the hamstring muscles strength (p < 0.000) compare to the standing worker without PFPS. No significant differences were seen in the strength of quadriceps muscle and hamstring muscles, Q:H ratio, and asymmetry ratio of quadriceps muscle strength. Conclusion: There was a significant difference in the asymmetry ratio of the isometric hamstring muscle strength. This finding suggests that the asymmetry ratio of isometric hamstring muscle strength may be more important than measuring only the hamstring muscle strength of the PFPS side. Furthermore, the results of this study showed a significant difference in dorsiflexion ROM between the standing industrial workers with and without PFPS. Dorsiflexion ROM and isometric hamstring muscle strength should be considered when evaluating the subjects with PFPS.
This paper presents the estimation of buckling coefficients and an ultimate strength for a longitudinally profiled plate (LP plate). From the buckling analysis of the LP plate compressed in one direction, the buckling coefficients for the thickness ratio are obtained by Rayleigh-Ritz method and Galarkin method. This paper also provides the technique of a finite element analysis considering the residual distributions of residual stresses and forces equilibrium in the LP plate. The strength behavior of the LP plate obtained from the analysis shows that the ultimate strength differs from the strength which is calculated from the current design code. Based on the results, this paper presents some new proposals about the strength evaluations of the LP plate.
It is proposed in this paper to develop the rational mix design system of High-strength concrete which is adjusted in the domestic circumstances. 1) Collect a lots of data in order to introduce the optimum mix design which has relation among material variables which compose High-strength concrete and run by using SAS (Statistical analysis system) which is one of multivariate statistical analysis method. 2) Select the important material variables for mix design of High-strength concrete by major component analysis and propose the standard range of each material variable along the target strengths. From the results of this study, it was proposed the range of proper material variables in domestic circumstance, which are W/C, S/A, air and admixture amounts, etc, at the target strengths for concrete kind. Also it was developed the optimum mix design program of High-strength concrete according to target strength and size of aggregate and made mix design ease in domestic construction site.
Gears are useful for power transmission due to excellent power transmission performance, low cost, and compactness. In addition, gears have constant speed ratio, compact structure, and excellent efficiency. In order to transmit higher power, the new multi-range transmission requires gears which have greater strength than the existing transmission. This study evaluates stability and durability through gear analysis of the multi-range transmission in commercial vehicles using ROMAX-DESIGNER program. Also, strength design evaluation is carried out by the analysis results which are compared with gear strength theory of AGMA standard. Bending stress and contact stress on gears are lower than their allowable stresses. Therefore, we can evaluate the safety of the gear strength design in multi-range transmission.
The use of advanced composite materials in many engineering structures has steadily increased during the last decade. Advanced composite materials allow the design engineer to tailor the directional stiffness and the strength of materials as required for the structures. Design variables to the design engineer include multiple material systems. ply orientation, ply thickness, stacking sequence and boundary conditions, in addition to overall structural design parameters. Since the vibration and impact strength of composite cylindrical shell is an important consideration for composite structures design, the reliable prediction method and design methodology should be required. In this study, the optimum design of composite cylindrical shell for maximum natural frequency, buckling strength and impact strength are developed by analytic and numerical method. The effect of parameters such as the various composite material orthotropic properties (CFRP, GFRP, KFRP, Al-CFRP hybrid), the stacking sequences, the shell thickness, and the boundary conditions on structural characteristics are studied extensively.
