Importance of railway safety has drawn much attention with the growth of its contribution to the modernized society as a massive transport, high speed transportation system. Hence, safety regulations and organizations for railway vehicles are reviewed. The present status of domestic metro transit system is considered and compared with that of foreign countries. Some controversial points are raised and countermeasures are proposed.

The purpose of this article is to evaluate Korea's income-led growth policy that is still in dispute. To do this, I discussed the content, background and implications of the income-led growth theory. Next, I discussed the role of income-led growth as a growth strategy in the Korean economy. The income-led growth theory comes from the Keynesian tradition which emphasizes the role of demand in the economic growth. The basic idea emerged nearly 80 years ago, and the current model emerged about 30 years ago. Some of the Korean researchers began to pay attention to this issue when ILO researchers discussed it in 2010. The recent emphasis on income-led growth theory was due to the tendency of declining labor income, thus forming a consensus that increasing inequality can hamper growth. The effectiveness of the income-led growth strategy, which can lead to economic growth by increasing the share of labor income, is theoretically and empirically controversial. However, it is understandable why income-led growth strategies have emerged. Income-led growth is not a short-term strategy nor a key of growth strategy. However, in current socio economic structures, the prescriptions of income-led growth theory is meaningful in that it enables sustainable growth by making the economic system healthy. In addition, unlike the West, the government's welfare expenditure can play a significant role as part of the income-led growth prescriptions in Korea.

With the unprecedented growth in internet traffic, demand for larger, more scaleable IP backbone networks is seemingly limitless. This critical requirement is leading the DACOM to investigate architectural alternatives for cost effective, scaleable and flexible IP backbones. In this paper, we present three alternatives for IP backbones using DWDM systems and multi-gigabit IP Routers in the DACOM metro networks, and then compare them by performing an economic analysis.

This article is concerned with the importance of organisation management and its characteristics in business performance in SMEs, and tested by four main aspects: managerial strategies, organisational structure, leader behaviour, and R&D activities. These relationships were tested with questionnaire data from a random sample of 87 firms. Results from simple statistics on each issue showed that SMEs have focused on the corporate growth and management goals, the democratic leadership, decentralisation in organisational structure, and the technology development plans. Results from correlation analyses not only found significant relationships between managerial strategy and R&D activities but also showed differences in R&D activities according to structural status or leadership style, respectively.

The simultaneous surgical correction of bilateral cleft lip and nasal deformity has become a more common surgical technique that has greatly changed conventional strategies for secondary nasal correction. Mulliken has been known as one of the earliest proponents for the synchronous repair of bilateral cleft lip and nasal deformity, and he emphasized the responsibility of the treating surgeon to evaluate nasolabial growth by comparing anthropometric measurements with age-matched normal patients. Good outcomes from this surgical method have been reported in clinical cases worldwide. Herein, we describe the management of two cases of bilateral cleft repair, following the principles and methods established by Mulliken. We also provide a relevant review of the literature.

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is among the most common causes of childhood blindness. Three phases of ROP epidemics have been observed worldwide since ROP was first described in the 1940s. Despite advances in neonatal care, the occurrence of ROP and associated visual impairment has been increasing somewhere on Earth and remains difficult to control. Conventional treatment options for preventing ROP progression include retinal ablation using cryotherapy or laser therapy. With the emergence of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatment for ocular diseases, the efficacy and safety of anti-VEGF therapy for ROP have recently been actively discussed. In the advanced stage of ROP with retinal detachment, surgical treatment including scleral buckling or vitrectomy is needed to maintain or induce retinal attachment. At this stage, the visual outcome is usually poor despite successful anatomical retinal attachment. Therefore, preventing ROP progression by timely screening examinations and treatment remains the most important part of ROP management.

The goal of nutrition of the preterm infant is to "provide nutrients to approximate the rate of growth and composition of weight gain for a normal fetus of the same postmenstrual age and to maintain normal concentrations of blood and tissue nutrients" (American Academy of Pediatrics 2014). Failure to provide the necessary amounts of all of the essential nutrients to preterm infants has produced not only growth failure, but also increased morbidity and less than optimal neurodevelopment. This continues to be true despite many efforts to increase nutrition of the preterm infants. In contrast, enhanced nutrition of very preterm infants, both intravenous and enteral, beginning right after birth, promotes positive energy and protein balance and improves longer term neurodevelopmental outcomes. The benefits are long lasting too, particularly for prevention of later life chronic diseases.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to assess the empirical evidence that shows blockchain technology has been a significant contributor to the growth of maritime transport in the shipping industry. Design/methodology/approach - Employing a generalized linear model using data from 2010 to 2019, this paper presents empirical evidence to demonstrate the positive impact of the adoption of blockchain technology on the maritime transport industry. Findings - Results from Granger causality tests confirm that there is a positive unidirectional causality from blockchain technology to maritime transport. This paper also demonstrates the positive effects of information technology (IT) and GDP growth on maritime transport. On the other hand, maritime transport is negatively influenced by the tax burden. Research implications or Originality - The results of this paper suggest a potential sustainable development strategy for the maritime transport industry involving the redirection of economic resources toward blockchain technology. Adopting other forms of IT and reducing the tax burden are also useful strategies for the development of the industry.

This study focused on the development of a conceptual model of the turnover intention of part-time sales associates in apparel retailing. A convenience sample of 294 college students who were part-time apparel workers was used to test the model. In this proposed model, organizational support and growth opportunity indirectly influenced turnover intention through work engagement, which in turn positively affected work effort, job performance, and job satisfaction. The results also revealed a direct relationship between work/role stress and burnout, which influenced turnover intention. These findings make a unique contribution to the extant literature and enable development of relevant strategies by apparel retailers.

This research analyzes the factors that affect the consumers' participation of the internet-only banks, and suggests effective financial sales strategies and methods to attract more users. Through prior research review and interviews with experts, the factors affecting the consumers to sign up for the internet banks are identified. The actual user data from the internet banks are used for the analysis, providing more systematic and credible results. The research shows that social media buzz positively affects the user growth, proving Granger Causality relation of increasing social media buzz on K Bank increases K Bank users. The research also shows that marketing activities noticeably impacts K Bank's positive user growth. On the other hand, the event of Kakao Bank's grand opening shows negative effect. The results from the research validates the need for periodical monitoring process of social media buzz. Moreover, the research proves that the integrated analysis of social media buzz and marketing effect is also essential.
