The Effect of Shopping Values and VM Information on Consumer Purchase Behavior - Basis on a Under Wear Store - (쇼핑가치와 속옷 매장의 VM정보가 구매행동에 미치는 영향)

  • This research is to explore relationship between the underwear shopping value and purchasing behaviors, as well as to figure out how the underwear store VM information has influence on consumers' purchase behaviors. Focus is placed on subdividing consumers into different groups according to underwear shopping value, and then verify whether VM information influences the consumer groups differently or not. This study, based on systematic understanding of an underwear consumption, will provide strategic suggestion to establish effective VM information of the underwear brand. The results of this study show that VM information is being utilized by the important clue when the consumers go shopping underwear. That's why the underwear brands should concentrate on developing VM by causing an interest and purchasing of consumers through corresponding with store's individuality and image. Also, the manner of performance should be related to brand image and theme reflected consumer's life style.

Perception of Nutrition Labeling on Restaurant Menus among Adults in Suwon (수원시 거주 성인의 외식 메뉴 영양표시에 대한 인식)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the perception of nutrition labeling on restaurant menus, and to analyze the differences among subject's characteristics, eating-out behaviors, and dietary attitudes. Information concerning general characteristics, health status, eating-out behaviors and dietary attitudes of subjects was collected by a structured questionnaire. From January 5th to February 27th in 2009, 406 questionnaires were completed by 157 males and 249 females. Statistical analyses were performed using by SPSS 14.0 package program. The perception of the importance of nutrition labeling was 3.89, while knowledge of whether restaurants provided sufficient nutrition information scored 2.26 indicating that being highly conscious of nutrition labeling, respondents did not view the supplied information as sufficient. Nutritional perception was greater in females and varied in both genders with age and health status. Significant differences concerning the perceptions of nutrition labeling were evident, based on eating-out behaviors and dietary attitudes. The results imply that nutrition labeling on restaurant menus should be based on consumer characteristics. Relevant nutrition labeling might help improve health by encouraging proper dietary habits and providing valuable nutritional information. Recognition of the importance of nutrition labeling and strategic implementation of labeling in menus would be prudent strategies for restaurant managers. A Study on the Clothing Involvement and Clothing Consumption Behavior of Female University Students according to Gender Role Attitude (여대생의 성역할 태도에 따른 의복관여와 의복소비행동에 대한 고찰)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate how gender role attitudes affect clothing involvement and clothing consumption behaviors in young female generation by changing the traditional sex role stereotype. For the research, the survey was conducted for a month from June 15 to July 15, 2009. Data was collected a total of 368 questionnaires from 20's female university students and analyzed 301 questionnaires with SPSS 12.0. The results were as follows. First, the results of factor analysis on gender role attitudes confirmed the multifactorial theory of gender schema: modern masculinity, conservative gender roles, modern feminity based on emotion, gender role openness, and traditional feminity. Second, gender role attitude of female university students was a little conservative but flexible to accommodate masculinity and active in the emotion expression. Third, gender role attitudes had important effects on clothing involvement which was identified into 4 different factors; fashion involvement, clothing interest, performance risk, and social psychological risk. Fourth, gender role attitudes were related with clothing consumption behaviors as like shopping orientation, on-going information search behavior and brand loyalty because of needs for innovation, exhibition and differentiation. Therefore, it was concluded that not only 'androgynous' from modern feminity based on emotion but also 'masculinity' was applied to important fashion marketing strategic tools by statically affecting female consumer's clothing involvement and clothing behaviors.

A Study on Outdoor Apparel Market Segmentation by Benefits Sought - Focused on Middle School & High School Students - (아웃도어 의류제품의 추구혜택에 따른 세분화에 관한 연구 - 중·고등학생 소비자를 중심으로 -)

  • Nowadays, sports and outdoor market has been popular and expanding since the implementation of the five-day workweek and change of lifestyle. Outdoor clothing considered exclusive property of the middle-aged individuals in the past. Recently there is a drift towards having outdoor looking at the age of 10-20. The purpose of this study was to analyze the features of purchasing behaviors and demographics by each groups targeting middle school and high school students. The study was conducted with questionnaires towards people who live in the city of Busan and who have experiences of buying outdoor clothing. Data analysis was conducted via SPSS 18.0 with factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, cross tabulation, frequency analysis and Duncan's multiple range test. The results showed that there were five factors sought for outdoor wear benefits: Individuality/Fashion, Brand, Attractive appearance, Economic value, Comfort/Functional. Cluster analysis showed that there were four groups of outdoor wear benefits sought. Overall, the four groups were different in regard to purchasing behaviors and demographics. Based upon the results mentioned above, this study summarizes the key features of each group and can provide applicable suggestion for conducting strategic marketing activities.

  • Under the difficult economy circumstances of Korean universities and industries, Korean government has been strongly emphasizing industry-university collaboration to make percentage of employment among college/university graduates higher as well as prosperity of Korean economy. In order to make effective improvement for universities, industries, local society, and national economic status, it is required to recognize the importance of university-industry collaboration team leader's leadership; which relates various employers personal behaviors with organizational goals and affects the employer's organizational behaviors in university-industry collaboration team. This study aims to suggest the effective strategic leadership behaviors fur the industry-university collaboration team leader in Korean universities as they are to manage university faculty members, professors, and researchers and/or top management of business enterprises and to achieve the organizational goals through literatures concerned about leadership and university-industry collaboration.

Out-of-Stock versus Sold-Out: Consumers' Cognitive Processes Triggered by Unavailability Marks in Online Shopping Malls

  • In online shopping, "out-of-stock" and "sold-out" are used to indicate product unavailability, and this unavailability and its effects on consumers' behaviors have been studied with great interest for practical purposes. However, few studies have specifically discussed out-of-stock and sold-out products in the same paper. We hypothesized that consumers might cognitively interpret items marked out-of-stock and sold-out differently, and in this paper, we studied these potential differences from the perspectives of consumers' emotions, behaviors, and loyalty based on the stimulus-organism-response framework. In order to explore the differences, we used a multi-method approach that consisted of experiments, surveys, and interviews. Specifically, we built an experimental website on which the same products were categorized as either out-of-stock or sold-out, and we measured the participants' emotions, attitudes, and intentions after the experiment. After two weeks, we conducted interviews to confirm our results and to learn more about consumers' everyday behavior. In the results, males and females demonstrated differences in emotion, behaviors, and loyalty with the interaction effects of an item's being marked out-of-stock versus sold-out. We found that the consumers demonstrated different levels of loyalty based on whether the item was marked out-of-stock or sold-out. We discuss the strategic implications of our findings.

A Study on the Economies of Promotion Gifts in the Newspaper Industry (신문판매시장 경품의 경제에 관한 고찰: 경품의 지속 원리와 딜레마)

  • This study examines the economies of promotion gifts in the newspaper industry. Because of the oligopolistic structure, the newspaper industry shows highly concentrated market. Under the certain circumstance, the dominant firms are struggling to become the market leader by providing unlawful promotion gifts and unbearable price discount which yields the prisoner's dilemma. Ultimately, in spite of the criticism about their unlawful behaviors, the dominant firms choose the fierce competition with high costs. On the other hand, the remaining fringe firms do not have many strategic choices due to the limited financial capacity. They cannot provide free gifts or any other incentives to the subscribers. Even worse, because advertisers and subscribers also prefer promotional gifts as a rational choice, the distorted mechanism has been sustained in the newspaper industry. Thus, governmental interventions hardly achieve the goal of controlling unfair trade. This study examines the structure, strategic behaviors of the players, and the unintended consequences leading to the dilemma on promotional sales in the newspaper industry.

TV Drama Producers' Changing Adaptive Behaviors in Terms of Genre Variety (환경특성이 TV 드라마 제작자의 장르 다양성 수준에 미치는 영향)

  • Based on the strategic contingency theory, this study empirically examines Korean TV drama producers' changing adaptive behaviors in terms of genre variety given different levels of environmental uncertainty. The extant literature has suggested that firms tend to increase product variety in order to cope with increasing environmental uncertainty. This study attempted to verify the hypothesis that TV drama producers would employ wider variety of genre in the period with more uncertain environment(2003-2009) than the period with stable environment(1994-2002). Empirical results support the hypothesis, implying that TV drama producers tend to repeatedly produce dramas with the same genre in order to pursue efficiency in stable environment whereas they tend to employ a variety of different genre in order to cope with increasing environmental uncertainty.

  • According to the literature, the studies on the effects of the characteristics of the international joint venture partners on joint venture performance are mainly focused on partial aspects of partners characteristics, and the studies that investigate a mediating effect of alliance commitment on the relationship between partners characteristics and joint venture performance are scarce. Hence, this research intends to identify comprehensive partners characteristics, including CEO leadership behaviors similarity, strategic similarity, resources similarity, and organizational similarity and examines their effects on alliance commitment and joint venture performance. The results reveal that CEO leadership behaviors similarity and organizational similarity have a positive influence on alliance commitment and joint venture performance, whereas strategic similarity and resources similarity have a negative influence on alliance commitment and joint venture performance. It is also found that alliance commitment affects joint venture performance positively and mediates the relationship between partners characteristics and joint venture performance. Based on these results, key conclusions and implications are discussed.

Separation of Tungsten and Vanadium from Alkaline Solution with adding CaCl2 (알칼리 용액 중 CaCl2 첨가에 의한 텅스텐과 바나듐의 분리)

  • As a fundamental study for the separation of vanadium and tungsten from the leaching solution obtained from the soda roasting and water leaching process of spent SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) catalyst was carried out. The precipitation behaviors of vanadium and tungsten using the artificial solution (V: $1g{\cdot}L^{-1}$, W: $10g{\cdot}L^{-1}$) was investigated depending on temperature, NaOH concentration and the amount of $CaCl_2$ (aq.) added. V (aq.) was selectively precipitated at lower temperature than 293 K while tungsten also was precipitated at higher temperature. Precipitation rate of V and W was decreased by the increasing concentration of NaOH. On the other hand, excess Ca addition induced the increase of precipitation rate for V and W due to the formation of $Ca(OH)_2$ following the pH decline. The response surface methodology was employed to optimize the selective precipitation. Vanadium of 99.5% and tungsten of 0.0% was precipitated at $0.5mol{\cdot}L^{-1}$ of aqueous NaOH and 1 equivalent ratio of $CaCl_2$ at 293 K.
