Perceived Service Qualities in Cosmetics Purchasing, those Difference and Consumer Satisfaction among Store Types (화장품 구매시 지각된 서비스품질, 점포유형에 따른 차이와 고객만족도)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate perceived service qualities in cosmetics purchasing and, those difference and consumer satisfaction among cosmetics store types. Data were collected from 276 adult females and analyzed by using frequencies, factor analysis, reliability analysis, ANOVA and duncan test utilizing SPSS WIN 10.0. The results showed that consumers perceived service quality such as reliability and responsiveness, product policy, tangibles, store atmosphere policy, business policy, sales policy to cosmetics store. There were significant differences on service quality among cosmetics store types. Consumers using department stores highly perceived factors such as reliability and responsiveness, product policy, tangibles, store and atmosphere policy, but consumers using common cosmetics store lowly perceived these factors. There were significant differences with regard to use effect and pleasure in using to satisfaction among cosmetics store types. Use effect was revealed the highest to consumers purchasing cosmetics in department stores but the lowest in discount stores. Pleasure in using was revealed the highest consumers using department stores but the lowest common cosmetics store.

Service Quality and Store Satisfaction according to Apparel Store Types (의류점포 유형에 따른 서비스품질과 점포만족도)

  • The main objective of this study were to develop the scale for measuring service quality and to identify the differences of service quality among apparel store types(department store, fashion specialty store and national brand independent store). Data were collected from 463 subjects who finished their shopping with a self-administered questionnaire. The results were as follows; 1. As a result of factor analysis, seven dimensions were identified for service quality: VMD, store atmosphere, pleasant enviornment, product assortment, store policy, salesperson's assurance, and salesperson's responsiveness dimensions. The first five dimensions and the last two dimensions were corresponded to store service and sales service respectively. Those dimensions explained 56.56% of service quality. Especially the salesperson's assurance had the most explaining power. 2. The fashion specially store was evaluated as the highest in five dimensions of store service, whereas the department store was evaluated as the lowest in the pleasant environment dimension. 3. Store policy, salesperson's assurance, store atmosphere, and VMD dimensions explained 38% of store satisfaction.

A Study on Department Store Environmental Factors to Improve Consumer Commitment -Focusing on a Comparison of Department Stores- (소비자 몰입을 향상시키는 백화점 점포환경요인에 관한 연구 -백화점 간 비교를 중심으로-)

  • This study examines the effects of store environment on consumer commitment to department stores and the differences among department stores. A self-administered questionnaire was developed based on existing scales in the literature and the result of qualitative research. The survey was conducted on 500 female consumers in their 20s to 40s in Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi areas in Korea. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, factor analysis, ANOVA, and regression analysis via SPSS Win 16.0. The results were as follows: First, three department stores revealed statistically significant differences in the diversity of facilities, store atmosphere, locational convenience and policy. Second, affective commitment to department stores was affected by salesperson service, policy, diversity of facilities, product assortment, store atmosphere and locational convenience. Calculative commitment in department stores was affected by policy, diversity of facilities, store atmosphere and locational convenience. There were also significant differences on store environmental factors that influence affective commitment and calculative commitment among department stores.

Competitive Structure between Department Store and Discount Store based on Consumers' Purchase Intention (소비자 구매의도에 근거한 백화점과 대형 할인점의 경쟁 구조)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate competitive structure between the department store and the discount store based on consumers' purchase intention. Female consumers who purchased clothing both in the department store and the discount store participated in the study by completing questionnaires (N=533) . Data were analyzed using factor analyses, paired t-test, Cronbach's $\alpha$, and chi-square analyses. The result was as following: 1 . Overall, the department store and the discount store are competing complementarily. However, this competitive structure varied with clothing items and consumers' age. 2. As a result of factor analyses, the two retailer's service quality could be evaluated with four dimensions: price and A/S, store atmosphere and VMD, store policy, and salesperson. 3. The department store was expected to provide the highest level of service in ‘price and A/S’, ‘store atmosphere and VMD’, ‘salesperson’ whereas the discount store in ‘store policy’ 4. Respondents were classified in four groups according to how frequently they use department store and discount store as following: shopper of both retailers (68.35%), discount store shopper(20.97%), department store shopper(4.70%), shopper of neither retailer(3.97%). Each group showed differences in service satisfaction and demographic characteristics.

The Effects of Fashion Innovativeness and Purchase Situation Factors on Fashion Adoption among Adult Women (성인여성의 유행혁신성과 구매상황 요인이 유행채택행동에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to identify the effects of adult women's fashion innovativeness and purchase situation factors on fashion adoption. To explain women's fashion adoption at the point of clothing purchases, fashion innovativeness and 3 dimensions of purchase situation were adopted as explanatory variables. Total usable questionnaires were obtained from 801 women aged between 20 and 39. Factor analysis on purchase situation resulted in 3 dimensional structures of purchase situation: Store atmosphere, Store policy and Pre-purchase condition. Women groups divided by fashion innovativeness level showed meaningful differences in their purchase situation level and fashion adoption level. Women groups divided by 3 dimensions of purchase situation also showed significant differences in fashion innovativeness level and fashion adoption level. Fashion innovativeness, Store atmosphere and Pre-purchase condition except Store policy positively affected fashion adoption.

A Study on the Type of Preference Store and Recognized Environment of Clothing Store according to Characteristics of Clothing Shopping (의류쇼핑성향에 따른 선호점포유형과 점포환경인식에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to classify consumers by orientation of clothing shopping and to analyze the type of preference store and recognized environmental elements of clothing shop. This survey was carried out through questionnaires of 312 females(Busan region) in their twenties and the data were analyzed by using Factor analysis, Cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, Duncan test as a post identification and ${\chi}^2$-test. The results of this research can be summarizedas follows: First, orientations of clothing shopping consisted of pleasure shopping orientation, planned shopping orientation, brand shopping orientation, and information of store orientation. The respondents were classified into four groups by these characteristics: high interested shopping group, brand-oriented shopping group, low interested shopping group, and unplanned shopping group. These groups had different type of preference store and there were significantly different preferences among department store, brand agency and regular discount store. The recognized environmental elements of clothing shop were service policy, store atmosphere, store layout, trend of products, product variety, freedom of shopping, and reception service. The groups by characteristics of clothing shopping had different attitude regarding those factors. Especially, they are susceptible to store atmosphere, trend of products and reception service. There was the correlation between type of preference store and environmental elements of store and mainly recognized environmental elements of clothing shop had differences according to type of store.

Effects of Addictive Apparel Buying Tendencies on Apparel Buying Behaviors (의복중독 구매 성향에 따른 의복구매 여부 영향 변수들의 연구)

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to examine the conceptual structure information sources, antecedent states, and purchasing situation related to the apparel buying behavior, 2) to compare the differences between high addictive buying consumers and low addictive buying consumers in related variables, and 3) to find out the discriminating variable of apparel buying behaviors on the degree of addictive buying tendencies of apparel in department store. The questionnaire was developed based on the results of pretest and previous studies, and completed by 726 fcmale consumers living in Busan, Korea. 1) Factor analysis showed that information sources related to apparel buying behaviors consisted of the information of store and observation, and antecedent states did consumer's mood and availability of cash/cards. Also, purchasing situation in apparel store composed of four factors, such as Atmosphere, Price/quality, Store policy/salesperson, and Influence of others. 2) By t-test, there were significant differences between high addictive buying consumers and low addictive buying consumers in information sources, antecedent states, and purchasing situations. 3) The apparel buying behavior of high addictive buying consumers were influenced by the information of observation, and that of low addictive buying consumers were did by the atmosphere of apparel store.

The Effect of Fashion Store Service Quality on Perceived Switching Barriers and Store Loyalty (의류점포의 서비스품질이 지각된 전환장벽과 점포충성도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study attempts to understand perceived switching barriers of customers and fashion stores service quality as a core of store loyalty. Medium variations of switching barriers are interpersonal relationships, attractiveness of alternatives and switching costs. Date were collected from 485 subjects who finished their shopping with a self-administered questionnaire. The results were as follows: 1. Classified service quality of clothing stores into 4 ways: VMD of stores or atmosphere, store policy which are involved in store service, sales persons respond and sales persons conviction which are involved in sales service. 2. Service quality of fashion stores is related with switching barrier medium variations. 3. Service quality have an influence on switching barrier medium variations. Its mutual influences increase switching barriers and it gets to be related to the store loyalty. 4. Compared influences of variations to store loyalty between the H department store and the L department store which are research objects. The main difference is that the H department store evaluated personal relationships among service quality, customers and sales persons high compared with the L department store. As the results showed, service quality consists of store service of nonpersonal service area and sales service of personal service. Service quality is related with interpersonal relationships, attractiveness of alternatives and switching costs. It also affects switching barriers and store loyalty.

An Empirical Study of the Service Quality, Customer Satisfaction, and Switching Barrier on Store Loyalty (대형할인점 의류매장의 점포애호도에 대한 서비스 품질과 전환장벽 및 고객만족 영향력에 관한 연구)

  • The goal of this study was to investigate the impacts of service quality, customer satisfaction, and switching burier on store loyalty of the clothes shops at large-scale discount stores. The subjects were 357 female adults living in Suncheon City, Jeollanam Province. The questionnaires were conveniently sampled from June 1 to 30, 2006. The collected data were factor and reliability analyzed using the SPSS program. And Regression was used to verify the relationships between the variables. Among the six hypotheses set in the research model, total three were accepted through empirical analysis and the rest three were accepted partially. The empirical results showed the following managerial implications. First, consumer' perceived service quality has relationship with customer satisfaction and store loyalty. Second, service quality has a positive relationship with switch barrier. Third, customer satisfaction has significantly related with switch barrier. Fourth, switch barrier has positively related with store loyalty. Finally, 'sales people', 'VMD/atmosphere', and 'assortment' of the service quality factors have positive relationships with store loyalty, but 'policy' has a negative relationship with store loyalty.

The Influence of Service Quality, Product Quality, Price on Store Patronage for Apparel Stores (의류점포의 서비스품질, 제품품질과 가격이 점포애고에 미치는 영향)

  • The purposes of this research were (1) to identify service quality and apparel quality in apparel stores, (2) to examine the influence of service quality, product quality and price on customer satisfaction, (3) to examine the influence of service quality, product quality, price and customer satisfaction on repurchase intention that is important feature of store patronage. The data was collected from 435 female students, career women, and house wives using questionnaire and analyzed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis and regression. The results of this research were as follows: (1) Service quality in apparel stores was divided into six factors: facilities and policy/ salesperson VMD/ after service/ impression and atmosphere/ promotion. (2) Product quality was divided into four factors: objective feature/ expressive feature/ wearing sensation/ fitness. (3) Service quality, product quality, price influenced customer satisfaction. (4) Product quality, price and customer satisfaction influenced repurchase intention directly, but service quality influenced repurchase intention indirectly. (5) Service quality factors that influenced customer to have repurchase intention were facilities and policy, salesperson, and VMD. (6) Product quality factors that influenced customer to have repurchase intention were objective feature and wearing sensation.
