  • Scratches are observed on a polymer cover-layer of near-field recording (NFR) media after a servo test with rotating disc. The scratches are formed by the collision of a solid immersion lens (SIL)-media. One of the possible ways to avoid the scratch problem is to coat a dielectric protective film on the polymer cover-layer which enhances the hardness of the surface. The surface with hard characteristics in the surface reduces the scratch problem in the cover-layer. Not only the mechanical properties but also the optical properties should be controlled. Specifically, the refractive index of the dielectric protective film should be matched with the polymer cover-layer not to lose light at the interface due to the difference of the refractive index. The refractive index of the dielectric film can be tailored by controlling process parameters during sputtering and matched with that of the polymer cover-layer.

  • The Global IT revolution is growing rapidly. Government and business have to be ready to meet the increased demand for effective and secure online services. With the E-Government practicing, day-by-day the public demand is also increasing simultaneously. Now this present moment, one of important research part is secure E-Voting for E-Government service, but for this important factor or Government Issue, it needs information privacy for secure information transaction of citizen’s opinions and secure authentication. This paper has analyzed several approaches E-voting protocols, those are implemented with many digital signature mechanism and maintained many types of cryptographic rules, which are main factor for information privacy. In this paper we have discussed them with a view to voter anonymity and protection from manipulations. The paper then developed an algorithm designed to guarantee anonymity of the voter and to avoid the risk of manipulation of votes. In this paper the proposed algorithm is based upon the strict separation of voter’s registration and submission of votes, which means that certain information has to be stored on a secure storage media.

  • Solid State Disks(SSD) are one of the best candidates to support next storage technology in desktop and server computing environment. The features of non-volatility, low power consumption, and fast access time for read operations are sufficient grounds to support SSD as major components of future storages. This paper describes a technical trend of HDD based RAID technology and proposes a new RAID system for SSD.

  • Bit patterned media (BPM) storage is one of the promising technologies to overcome the limitations of the conventional magnetic recording. However, there are some problems in a high areal density BPM storage, inter-track interference, inter-symbol interference and noise which are severely degrading performance of the system with reducing the bit error rate. In this paper, we present a simple iterative two-dimensional equalizer based on the contraction mapping theorem to mitigate these adverse effects. Furthermore, we examine that the channel characteristics of the proposed two-dimensional equalizer satisfies the convergence conditions. In the simulation we demonstrate the bit separation characteristics of the one-dimensional equalizer and the two-dimensional equalizer and evaluate the BER performance of the proposed equalizer comparing with the conventional equalizers. According to the results of experiments, the proposed equalizer is an promising equalizer with maintaining proper complexity for a high areal density BPM storage.

  • A flash-memory-based SSDs(Solid State Disks) are one of the best media to support portable and desktop computers' storage devices. Their features include non-volatility, low power consumption, and fast access time for read operations, which are sufficient to present flash memories as major database storage components for desktop and server computers. However, we need to improve traditional storage management schemes based on HDD(Hard Disk Drive) and RAID(Redundant array of independent disks) due to the relatively slow or freezing characteristics of write operations of SSDs, as compared to fast read operations. In order to achieve this goal, we propose a new storage management scheme called Hetero-Mirroring based on traditional HDD mirroring scheme. Hetero-Mirroring-based scheme improves RAID-1 operation performance by balancing write-workloads and delaying write operations to avoid SSD freezing. Our test results show that our scheme significantly reduces the write operation overheads and freezing overheads, and improves the performance of traditional SSD-RAID-1 scheme by 18 percent, and the response time of the scheme by 38 percent.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for efficient use of energy when using flash device in WSN environment. Typical Flash devices have a drawback to be an energy efficient storage media in the energy-constrained WSNs due to the high standby energy. An energy efficient approach to deploy Flash devices into WSNs is simply turning the Flash device off whenever idle. In this regard, we make the simple but ideal approach realistic by removing these two obstacles by exploiting nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM), which is an emerging memory technology that provides both non-volatility and byte-addressability. Specifically, we make use of NVRAM as an extension of metadata storage to remove the FTL metadata scanning process that mainly incurs the two obstacles. Through the implementation and evaluation in a real system environment, we verify that significant energy savings without sacrificing I/O performance are feasible in WSNs by turning off the Flash device exploiting NVRAM whenever it becomes idle. Experimental results show that the proposed method consumes only about 1.087% energy compared to the conventional storage device.

  • As an organization or organization grows in size, many different types of data are being generated in different systems. There is a need for a way to improve efficiency by processing data smarter in different systems. Just like DataLake, we are creating a single domain model that accurately describes the data and can represent the most important data for the entire business. In order to realize the benefits of a DataLake, it is import to know how a DataLake may be expected to work and what components architecturally may help to build a fully functional DataLake. DataLake components have a life cycle according to the data flow. And while th data flows into a DataLake from the point of acquisition, its meta-data is captured and managed along with data traceability, data lineage, and security aspects based on data sensitivity across its life cycle. According to this reason, we have designed the DataLake Framework based on Abyss Storage Cluster.

  • With many types of data generated in the shift of business environment as a result of growth of an organization or enterprise, there is a need to improve the data-processing efficiency in smarter means with a single domain model such as Data Lake. In particular, creating a logical single domain model from physical partitioned multi-site data by the finite resources of nature and shared economy is very important in terms of efficient operation of computing resources. Based on the advantages of the existing Data Lake framework, we define the CDA-Concept (connected data architecture concept) and functions of Data Lake Framework over Abyss Storage for integrating multiple sites in various application domains and managing the data lifecycle. Also, it performs the interface design and validation verification for Interface #2 & #3 of the connected data architecture-concept.

  • The preservation of temporal dependencies among a group of processes that exchange continuous media at runtime is a key issue for emerging mobile distributed systems (MDS), such as monitoring of biosignals and interactive multiuser games. Although several works are oriented to satisfy temporal dependencies, most of them are not suitable for MDSs. In general, an MDS is characterized by the absence of global references (e.g. shared memory and wall clock), host mobility, limited processing and storage capabilities in mobile hosts, and limited bandwidth on wireless communication channels. This paper proposes an asymmetric synchronization protocol to be used at runtime in an MDS without using a common reference. One main aspect of our synchronization protocol is that it translates temporal constraints to causal dependencies of the continuous media data as seen by the mobile hosts. We simulate the protocol by considering a cellular network environment and by using MPEG-4 encoders. The simulation results show that our protocol is effective in reducing the synchronization error. In addition, the protocol is efficient in terms of processing and storage costs at the mobile devices, as well as in the overhead attached per message across the wired and wireless channels.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics and functions of radio media and its imprecations. In doing so, the researcher attempted to analyze the text of the radio documentary, which illuminated "Seosan Sim's Sorigil," Pansori Jung-go-je. The analysis showed that radio, a broadcasting medium, functions as a sound storage medium by utilizing elements such as sound, narration, and dramatic reenactment. Second, the radio media enabled to record the upbringing of a person through an oral interview. Finally, the radio medium plays a role in promoting the sound of Pansori academically. This study confirms that the radio medium functions as a means of recording and ascertaining Pansori, a traditional art culture and an intangible cultural heritage, by utilizing the unique characteristics of sound storage media.
