This study suggests integrated neural network modes for he stock price index forecasting using change-point detection. The basic concept of this proposed model is to obtain significant intervals occurred by change points, identify them as change-point groups, and reflect them in stock price index forecasting. The model is composed of three phases. The first phase is to detect successive structural changes in stock price index dataset. The second phase is to forecast change-point group with various data mining classifiers. The final phase is to forecast the stock price index with backpropagation neural networks. The proposed model is applied to the stock price index forecasting. This study then examines the predictability of integrated neural network models and compares the performance of data mining classifiers.

This study aims to determine the impact of the news coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic on the composite stocks' movement (IHSG) in Indonesia. This study used secondary data of daily time series with an observation range of March 2020-June 2020. This study used three main variables, namely, COVID-19 news, the daily price of a composite stock market index (IHSG), and interest rate. This study clarifies pandemic news into two forms to facilitate quantitative analysis, namely, good news and bad news. Both pandemic news conditions, which have been clarified, are then processed into the index and reprocessed along with two other variables using vector autoregressive (VAR). The results showed that the good news have a dominant effect on developing the composite stock price index (IHSG) in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the good news dominates the composite stock price index (IHSG) movement in Indonesia, the bad news must also be anticipated. By implementing a series of macroeconomic policies that follow the conditions of the composite stock price index (IHSG) movements on the stock exchange floor, the bad news response can decrease the potential for a decline in investor confidence, so that the financial system's macroeconomic stability is maintained.
This article has examined the international transmission of returns among S&P500, Nikkei225 and SENSEX stock index cash markets using the daily closing prices covered from January 4, 2002 to February 6, 2009. For this purpose we employed dynamic time series models such as the Granger causality analysis and variance decomposition analysis based on VAR model. The main empirical results are as follows; First, according to Granger causality tests we find that S&P500 stock index has a significant prediction power on the changes of SENSEX and Nikkei225 stock index market and vice versa. However, US stock market's influence is dominant to the other stock markets at a significant level statistically. Second, according to variance decomposition, SENSEX stock index is more sensitive to the movement of S&P500 than that of Nikkei225 stock index. These kinds of empirical results shows that the three stock markets are integrated over times and these results will be informative for the international investors to build the world-wide investment portfolio and risk management strategies, etc.
This paper presents a two-dimensional attention-based long short-memory (2D-ALSTM) model for stock index prediction, incorporating input attention and temporal attention mechanisms for weighting of important stocks and important time steps, respectively. The proposed model is designed to overcome the long-term dependency, stock selection, and stock volatility delay problems that negatively affect existing models. The 2D-ALSTM model is validated in a comparative experiment involving the two attention-based models multi-input LSTM (MI-LSTM) and dual-stage attention-based recurrent neural network (DARNN), with real stock data being used for training and evaluation. The model achieves superior performance compared to MI-LSTM and DARNN for stock index prediction on a KOSPI100 dataset.
Determining the timing of buying and selling in stock investment is one of the most important factors to increase the return on stock investment. Buying low and selling high makes a profit, but buying high and selling low makes a loss. The price is determined by the quantity of buying and selling, which determines the price of a stock, and buying and selling is also related to corporate performance and economic indicators. The fear and greed index provided by CNN uses seven factors, and by assigning weights to each element, the weighted average defined as greed and fear is calculated on a scale between 0 and 100 and published every day. When the index is close to 0, the stock market sentiment is fearful, and when the index is close to 100, it is greedy. Therefore, we analyze the trading criteria that generate the maximum return when buying and selling the US S&P 500 index according to CNN fear and greed index, suggesting the optimal buying and selling timing to suggest a way to increase the return on stock investment.
This study investigates the dynamic relationship between KOSPI200 stock index and stock index futures and stock index option markets which is its derived from KOSPI200 stock index. We use 5-minutes rate of return data from 2012. 06 to 2014. 12. To empirical analysis, this study use autocorrelation and cross-correlation analysis as a preliminary analysis and then following Stoll and Whaley(1990) and Chan(1992), the multiple regression is estimated to examine the lead-lag patterns between the stock index and stock index futures and option markets by Newey and West's(1987) Empirical results of our study shows as follows. First, there exist a strong autocorrelation in the KOSPI200 stock index before 10minutes but a very weak autocorrelation in the stock index futures and option markets. Second, there is a strong evidence that stock index future and option markets lead KOSPI200 stock index in the cross-correlation analysis. Third, based on the multiple regression, the stock index futures and option markets lead the stock index prior to 10-15 minutes and weak evidence that the stock index leads the future and option markets. This results show that the market efficient of KOSPI200 stock index market is improved as compared to the early stage of stock index future and option market.

This study conducted to predict the stock market prices based on the assumption that internet news articles might have an impact and effect on the rise and fall of stock market prices. The internet news articles were tested to evaluate the accuracy by comparing predicted values of the actual stock index and the forecasting models of the companies. This paper collected stock news from the internet, and analyzed and identified the relationship with the stock price index. Since the internet news contents consist mainly of unstructured texts, this study used text mining technique and multiple regression analysis technique to analyze news articles. A company H as a representative automobile manufacturing company was selected, and prediction models for the stock price index of company H was presented. Thus two prediction models for forecasting the upturn and decline of H stock index is derived and presented. Among the two prediction models, the error value of the prediction model (1) is low, and so the prediction performance of the model (1) is relatively better than that of the prediction model (2). As the further research, if the contents of this study are supplemented by real artificial intelligent investment decision system and applied to real investment, more practical research results will be able to be developed.

This study presents the time-divided forecasting model to integrate evolutionary optimization algorithm and change point detection based on artificial neural networks (ANN) for the prediction of (Korea) stock price index. The genetic algorithm(GA) is introduced as an evolutionary optimization method in this study. The basic concept of the proposed model is to obtain intervals divided by change points, to identify them as optimal or near-optimal change point groups, and to use them in the forecasting of the stock price index. The proposed model consists of three phases. The first phase detects successive change points. The second phase detects the change-point groups with the GA. Finally, the third phase forecasts the output with ANN using the GA. This study examines the predictability of the proposed model for the prediction of stock price index.
The purpose of this study is to analyze whether the spread of COVID-19 infectious diseases acts as a fear to investors and affects the direction and volatility of stock returns. The investor fear index was proposed using the domestic confirmed patient information of COVID-19, and the influence on stock prices was empirically analyzed. The direction and volatility models of stock prices used the Granger causality and GARCH models, respectively. The results of empirical analysis using the KOSPI index from February 20, 2020 to June 30, 2021 are as follows: First, the COVID-19 fear index showed causality to future stock prices. Second, the COVID-19 fear index has a negative effect on the volatility of KOSPI index returns. In future studies, it is necessary to document the cause by using individual business performance and stock price instead of the stock index.
In this study, we examined the fractal structure of the Nikkei225, HangSeng, Shanghai Stock Exchange and Straits Times Index of Singapore. Empirical analysis was performed via non-parametric, semi-parametric long memory tests and also fractal dimension calculations. In order to avoid spurious long memory features, besides the Detrended Fluctuations Analysis (DFA), we also used Smith's (2005) modified GPH method. As for fractal dimension calculations, they were conducted via Box-Counting and Variation (p=1) tests. According to the results, while there is no long memory property in log returns of any index, we found evidence for long memory properties in the volatility of the HangSeng, the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Straits Times Index. However, we could not find any sign of long memory in the volatility of Nikkei225 index using either the DFA or modified GPH test. Fractal dimension analysis also demonstrated that all raw index prices have fractal structure properties except for the Nikkei225 index. These findings showed that the Nikkei225 index has the most efficient market properties among these markets.
