Roof failure of shallow tunnel based on simplified stochastic medium theory

  • The failure mechanism of tunnel roof is investigated with upper bound theorem of limit analysis. The stochastic settlement and nonlinear failure criterion are considered in the present analysis. For the collapse of tunnel roof, the surface settlement is estimated by the simplified stochastic medium theory. The failure curve expressions of collapse blocks in homogeneous and in layered soils are derived, and the effects of material parameters on the potential range of failure mechanisms are discussed. The results show that the material parameters of initial cohesion, nonlinear coefficient and unit weight have significant influences on the potential range of collapse block in homogeneous media. The proportion of collapse block increases as the initial cohesion increases, while decreases as the nonlinear coefficient and the unit weight increase. The ground surface settlement increases with the tunnel radius increasing, while the possible collapse proportion decreases with increase of the tunnel radius. In layered stratum, the study is investigated to analyze the effects of material parameters of different layered media on the proportion of possible collapse block.

  • In the field of financial technology, it is the U.S. initiative, and Japan is obliged to flattery in many respect. Currently Japan is in a too much defenseless situation that the economic structure is based on U.S. theory, In the conventional stochastic theory, it is also face that the prediction sometimes does not hit in the actual problem because it assumes a known probability distribution, none of which illustrates the real situation. A new research and development of management prediction support system is proposed based on fuzzy measures, that deals with the ambiguous, subjective evaluation by the people living in the real world well. Especially, the system will support venture, small and medium companies.

Ashbery's Aesthetics of Difficulty: Information Theory and Hypertext

  • This paper is concerned with John Ashbery's poetics of difficulty, questioning in particular the nature of communication in his difficult poems. Ashbery has an idea of poetry as 'information' to be transmitted to the reader. Meaning, however, is to be created by a series of selections among equally probable choices. Ashbery's poetry has been characterized by resistance to the interpretive system of meaning. But the resistance itself, as I will argue, can be an effective medium of communication as the communicated message is not simply transmitted but 'selected' and thus created by the reader. In Ashbery's poetry, disruptive 'noise' elements can be processed as constructive information. What is normally considered a hindrance or noise can be reversed and added to the information. In Ashbery's poems, random ambiguities or noises can be effectively integrated into the final structure of meaning. Such a stochastic sense of information transfer has been embodied in Ashbery's idea of creating a network of verbal elements in his poetry, analogous to the interconnecting web of hypertext, the most dynamic medium 'information technology' has brought to us. John Ashbery, whose poems are simultaneously incomprehensible and intelligent, employs ambiguities or noise in his poetry, with an attempt to reach through linear language to express nonlinear realities. It is therefore my intention to examine Ashbery's poetics of difficulty, from a perspective of communication transmission, using the theories of information technology and the principles of hypertext theory. Ashbery's poetry raises precisely the problem confronted in the era of communication and information technology. The paper will also show how his aesthetics of difficulty reflects the culture of our uncertain times with overflowing information. With his difficult enigmatic poems, Ashbery was able to move ahead of the technological advances of his time to propose a new way of perceiving the world and life.

Catastrophe analysis of active-passive mechanisms for shallow tunnels with settlement

  • In the note a comprehensive and optimal passive-active mode for describing the limit failure of circular shallow tunnel with settlement is put forward to predict the catastrophic stability during the geotechnical construction. Since the surrounding soil mass around tunnel roof is not homogeneous, with tools of variation calculus, several different curve functions which depict several failure shapes in different soil layers are obtained using virtual work formulae. By making reference to the simple-form of Power-law failure criteria based on numerous experiments, a numerical procedure with consideration of combination of upper bound theorem and stochastic medium theory is applied to the optimal analysis of shallow-buried tunnel failure. With help of functional catastrophe theory, this work presented a more accurate and optimal failure profile compared with previous work. Lastly the note discusses different effects of parameters in new yield rule and soil mechanical coefficients on failure mechanisms. The scope of failure block becomes smaller with increase of the parameter A and the range of failure soil mass tends to decrease with decrease of unit weight of the soil and tunnel radius, which verifies the geomechanics and practical case in engineering.

통계적 확산이론에 기초한 다공질체의 유동관망 유동해석 기법 개발 (Development of a Pipe Network Fluid-Flow Modelling Technique for Porous Media based on Statistical Percolation Theory)

  • 본 연구에서는 다공질 지반체내의 투수계수를 계산하기 위하여 정방형의 배열형태를 갖는 유동관망(pipe network) 유동해석 모델을 개발하였다. 본 유동관망을 통한 유체의 흐름 메커니즘은 통계적 침투이론(percolation theory)에 기초하여 정의된다(Stauffer and Aharony, 1994). 여기서, 개별 유동관의 직경들이 주어진 다공질 매질의 공극률과 공극크기 분포특성을 기초로 하여 통계적으로 지정됨으로 계산된 유체흐름은 불균일한 채널 유동 형태로 나타난다. 본 유동해석에서는 유동관망 모델의 한쪽 경계면에 가압된 유체가 투입되고 다른 측면 경계면들은 흐름을 억제하는 경계조건을 두어 한 방향으로 유동관망을 통해 유체의 흐름을 유도하여 모델링된다. 이때, 흐름을 허용할지를 정의하는 확산조건(percolation condition)이 각 유동관에 부여되며, 이는 각 유동 경로의 직경과 재료면 특성을 기초로 계산된 삼투압(capillary pressure) 수준에 의해 정의된다. 유체가 유입되는 면의 수압에 대해 전체 유동관망 모델 내의 수압 분포가 평형을 이루면 유출되는 면의 수압이 일정해 지며, 유입면의 수압과 계산된 유출면의 수압 및 유동량을 Darcy 방정식에 적용하면 유동관망 모델로 모사된 다공질 매질의 투수계수를 얻어 낼 수 있다. 본 연구에서는, 민감할 것으로 예상된 유동 격자망의 규모의 투수계수 결과값에 대한 민감도를 검토하였으며, 실제 석유개발 현장에서 수집된 시추코어에 대해 측정된 투수계수값과 제안 네트워크 모델을 이용한 계산값과 비교하여 합리적인 범위 내에서 잘 부합됨을 보였다.

대기외란에 따른 SPGD 기반 결맞음 빔결합 시스템 위상제어 동작성능 분석 (Numerical Study of SPGD-based Phase Control of Coherent Beam Combining under Various Turbulent Atmospheric Conditions)

  • 본 논문에서는 대기외란에 따른 SPGD 위상제어 알고리즘 기반 결맞음 빔결합 시스템의 위상제어 동작성능을 논의한다. 대기의 외란에 대한 통계적 이론을 바탕으로 전산모사를 통해 대기외란에 의한 레이저빔의 위상 및 파면 왜곡에 대한 분석과 왜곡된 빔을 통해 얻게 되는 7채널 및 19채널 결맞음 빔결합 결과를 도출하고, 이를 통해 대기외란의 정도에 따른 빔결합 시스템의 위상제어 동작성능 및 효율을 수치적으로 비교분석한다. 분석 결과, 7채널 결맞음 빔결합의 경우, 대기외란 파라미터 cn2 값이 10-13 m-2/3 까지 증가한 상황에서도 SPGD 위상제어 알고리즘을 적절히 적용할 경우 90% 이상의 빔결합 효율로 시스템의 위상 잠금이 가능하다는 것을 확인하였다. 19채널 결맞음 빔결합의 경우, 동일한 대기외란 조건에서도 대기의 굴절률 비균질성(refractive index inhomogeneity)의 영향이 더 커서 빔결합 효율이 60% 수준으로 급격하게 감소할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, 대기외란이 있는 상황에서 위상잠금시점까지 요구되는 알고리즘의 반복연산 횟수와 대기현상의 변화간격을 비교분석함으로써, 다채널 결맞음 빔결합 시스템이 ㎲의 간격을 가지는 대기외란 상황에서도 정상동작을 하기 위해서는 SPGD 위상제어 알고리즘의 연산대역폭이 수백 MHz에서 수 GHz까지 확장되어야 한다는 것을 확인하였다. 향후, 대기외란이 SPGD 위상제어 알고리즘 기반 결맞음 빔결합 시스템의 위상제어 동작성능에 미치는 영향을 정량적으로 분석하고 예측하는 데 있어서 본 논문의 결과가 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것이라 기대된다.
