Absorption rate of carbon dioxide was measured in the aqueous xanthan gum (XG) solution in the range of 0~0.15 wt% containing diisopropanolamine (DIPA) of $0{\sim}2\;kmol/m^3$ in a flat-stirred vessel with an impeller of 0.05 m and agitation speed of 50 rpm at $25^{\circ}C$ and 101.3 kPa. The volumetric liquid-side mass transfer coefficient ($k_La$) of $CO_2$, which was obtained by the measured physical absorption rate, was correlated with the viscosity and the elastic behavior of XG solution such as Deborah number as an empirical formula. The chemical absorption rate of $CO_2$ ($R_A$), which was estimated by the film theory using the measured $k_La$ and the known kinetics of reaction between $CO_2$ and DIPA, was compared with the measured rate. The aqueous XG solution with elastic property of non-Newtonian liquid made $k_La$ and $R_A$ increased compared with Newtonian liquid based on the same viscosity of the solution.
In the present study, a numerical simulation to analyze mixing performance inside an industrial mixer was investigated for various geometry of turbine impellers. Various pitching angles and various types of turbine blades were considered in the simulation. In order to model the rotation of impeller, the Multiple Reference Frames (MRF) technique was used. For evaluation of the effect of various shapes on the mixing performance, dimensionless coefficient such as flow coefficient, circulation coefficient, power coefficient, pumping effectiveness and circulation effectiveness were used. From the results, the effect of pitching angle of a pitched turbine impeller was to give best pumping effectiveness around $30^{\circ}$ pitching angle, whereas best circulation effectiveness around $65^{\circ}$ pitching angle. Dual pitched turbine impeller showed best performance in both pumping effectiveness and circulation effectiveness among impeller types considered in the present study.

Absorption rate of carbon dioxide was measured in the aqueous xanthan gum (XG) solution in the range of 0-0.15 wt% containing 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP) of $0-2\;kmol/m^3$ in a flat-stirred vessel with an impeller of 0.05m and agitation speed of 50rpm at $25^{\circ}C$ and 0.101 MPa. The volumetric liquid-side mass transfer coefficient ($k_La$) of $CO_2$, which was correlated with the viscosity and the elastic behavior of XG solution containing Deborah number as an empirical formula, was used to estimate the chemical absorption rate of $CO_2\;(R_A)$. $R_A$, which was estimated by mass transfer mechanism based on the film theory using the physicochemical properties and the kinetics of reaction between $CO_2$ and AMP, was compared with the measured rate. The aqueous XG solution with elastic property of non-Newtonian liquid made $R_A$ increased compared with Newtonian liquid based on the same viscosity of the solution.
Absorption rate of carbon dioxide was measured in the aqueous polyacrylamide (PAA) solution containing triethanolamine (TEA) of $0{\sim}2.0\;kg\;mol/m^3$ in a flat-stirred vessel with an impeller of 0.05 m and agitation speed of 50 rpm at $25^{\circ}C$ and 101.3 kPa. The chemical absorption rate of $CO_2$ was estimated by mass transfer mechanism based on the film theory using the physicochemical properties containing the liquid-side mass transfer coefficient of $CO_2$ and the kinetics of reaction between $CO_2$ and TEA to compare with the measured rate. The aqueous PAA solution acted as a reducing agent by viscoelastic property of non-Newtonian liquid based on the same viscosity of the solution.
The oil in mackerel muscle was extracted using an environment friendly solvent, supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-$CO_2$) at a semibatch flow extraction process and an n-hexane. The SC-$CO_2$ was maintained at a temperature of $45^{\circ}C$ under pressures ranging from 15 to 25 MPa. The flow rate of $CO_2$ (27 g/min) was constant during the entire 2 h extraction period. The fatty acid composition of the oil was analyzed using gas chromatography (GC). Significant concentrations of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) acid and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) acid were present in the SC-$CO_2$ extracted oil. The oil extracted using SC-$CO_2$ exhibited increased stability compared with n-haxane extracted oil. Particles of mackerel oil together with the biodegradable polymer, polyethylene glycol (PEG) were formed using a gas saturated solution process (PGSS) with SC-$CO_2$ in a thermostatted stirred vessel. Different temperatures ($45-55^{\circ}C$), pressures (15-25 MPa) and a nozzle size $400{\mu}m$ were used for PGSS with a 1 h reaction time. The stability of mackerel oil in the particles did not changed significantly.
Recovery of aromatics in extract phase which was obtained by batch equilibrium extraction between light cycle oil(LCO) and dimethylsulfoxide(DMSO) solution as solvent was investigated by re-extraction. To select the most suitable re-extraction solvent for recovery of aromatics in extract phase, distribution equilibrium was measured between extract phase and solvents. The solvents used were benzene(B), toluene(T), m-Xylene(mX), n-hexane(Hx) and n-hexane(Hx) and n-Octane(Ot). From the distribution coefficients and yields of aromatics, Hx seemed to be the most suitable. Furthermore, effects of operation parameters for re-extraction of aromatics in the extract phase were studied by batch equilibrium re-extracion with Hx as solvent. Yields of aromatics were found to increase with increasing solvent/feed (extract phase) mass ratio(S/F), while distribution coefficients of aromatics were fixed irrespective of S/F used. Operating temperature did not affect distribution coefficients and yields of aromatics. Distibution coefficients and yields of naphthalene group(carbon numer : 10~12) increased with increasing cabon number. Mass transfer rates of aromatics were also measured with a batch stirred vessel.
This paper compared selectivities and mass transfer rates of valuable aromatics (naphthalene group: carbon number 10-12) in the light cycle oil obtained from solvent extraction (SE) with those obtained from liquid membrane permeation (LMP). An aqueous solution of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) and an aqueous solution of saporrin and DMSO were used as extraction solvent of SE and the membrane phase of LMP, respectivdy. Selectivities of naphthalene group in reference to n-nonane obtained from SE runs were rapidly increased with decreasing the operating temperature, whereas, those obtained from LMP runs were remained constant throughout the operating temperature. At room temperature, selectivities of naphthalene group obtained from SE were greater than those from SE. Furthermore, mass transfer rates of naphthalene group by SE and LMP were measured in a baffled batch stirred vessel. It was found that the extraction rates of SE were faster by about 280 times than the permeation rates of LMP.

According to the worldwide interest in controlling $CO_2$ which contributes to green house effect. new techniques of reducing $CO_2$ are under development. We have developed new technique for reducing $CO_2$. In low $CO_2$ concentration. the chemical absorption method is useful. In this study. the kinetics of the reaction between $CO_2$ and the sterically hindered amine solution with piperazine. have been investigated from measurements of the rate of absorption of $CO_2$ in the stirred vessel that has a horizontal liquid-gas interface, in the temperature range $30{\sim}70^{\circ}C$. The experiments were carried out in the range 10.130~20.260 kPa of partial pressure of $CO_2$, and in aqueous $2.0kmol/m^3$ AMP solution with $0{\sim}0.4kmol/m^3$ piperazine The experimental results are as follows: 1) The absorption rate of $CO_2$ into aqueous AMP + piperazine solution is gett ng faster than that of aqueous AMP absorbents with temperature. Because the activation energy of piperazine 57.147 kJ/mol is higher than that of AMP 41.7kJ/mol. therefore the effect of piperazine on absorption rate increases with temperature. 2) Compared with aqueous AMP solution. the absorption rate of $CO_2$ into AMP + piperazine solution increases from 6.33% at $30^{\circ}C$ to 12% at $70^{\circ}C$, so AMP + piperazine solution is thought to be a better than AMP solution, 3) The reaction rate constants of piprazine in aqueous AMP solution with $CO_2$ have been determined as 217.21, 420.46, 707.00 and $3162.167m^3/kmol{\cdot}s$ respectively at 30, 40, 50 and $70^{\circ}C$ but these results are higher than those of Xu which were 186.7. 367.32. 693.01. $2207.65m^3/kmol{\cdot}s$ at 30, 40, 55, $70^{\circ}C$in aqueous MDEA solution. So the regression analysis of the data has led to the following equation In $k_p$ =28.324-6934.7/T.
The large-scale production of antibiotics by filamentous mycelial organism requires and adequate supply of dissolved oxygen. In terms of productivity, it means that oxygen transfer is the rate-limiting step. Therefore, the oxygen transfer coefficients(K$\_$L/A) were determined in a broth involving a filamentous mycelial organism such as Streptomyces avermitilis for use in fermentations. To determine (K$\_$L/A) inn a stirred vessel, a great deal of effort is required to provide all the cells with a sufficient oxygen supply. To overcome the oxygen limitation in a batch culture, a fed-batch culture was applied to control the growth rate by an intermittent supply of nutrients. Thus, it was possible to maintain a suitable dissolved oxygen concentration at a low agitation rate. The optimal agitation speed was 350 rpm at low cell concentrations (below 7 g/L) by considering the efficiency of agitation and shear stress. The (K$\_$L/A) was found to decrease from 64.26 to 29.21h.$\^$-1/ when the biomass concentration was increased from 9.82 to 12.06 g/L. In addition, and increase in viscosity was also observed during the growth phase. By comparing the (K$\_$L/A) values for the various agitation and aeration rates, it was found that the effect of an increase in (K$\_$L/A) by aeration was reduced dramatically at high biomass concentrations. However, this effect was not observed when altering the agitation rate. This suggests that controlling the dissolved oxygen concentration by altering the agitation rate was more efficient than increase the aeration rate.
