Free Vibration Analysis of Cylindrical Shell Structures with Stiffeners by Transfer Influence Coefficient Method (전달영향계수법에 의한 원통형 셀 구조물의 자유진동해석)

  • This paper describes the formulation for the vibration analysis of cylindrical shells with stiffeners by the transfer influence coefficient method. This method was developed on the base of the concept of the successive transmission of dynamic influence coefficients. The simple computational results from a personal computer demonstrate the validity of the present method, that is, the numerical high accuracy and the flexibility of programming, are compared with results of the transfer matrix method. It is also confirmed that the present algorithm could provide the solutions of high accuracy for system with a number of intermediate rigid supports. And all boundary conditions and the intermediate stiff supports such as intermediate rigid supports between shell and foundation can be treated only by adequately controlling the values of the spring constants.

  • The climacterium is that phase in the aging precess during which a woman passes from the reproductive to the non-reporductive stage. The signals, such as hot flashes, vaso-motoric disturbances, perspiration, stiff shoulders, emotinal symptoms, are refered to as climacteric disturbances. Treatment of climacteric symptoms centers around estrogen replacement and transfuilizers, but there are many problems to be solved to use these hormones/drugs as far as dossage, duration and complications are concerned. The care of women during the climacteric years should provide relief of distressing symptoms with as high a degree of safety as possible. From this view point, we used red ginseng powder to those patients with high menopausal index successfully. We studied its mechanism of action and proved that red ginseng improved the micro-circulation system via improvement of erythrocyte reformability which enhanced sex steroidgensis consequently.

  • In this paper, we formulated algorithm for free vibration analysis of cylindrical shells with stiffeners by applying the transfer influence coefficient method. This was developed as a vibration analysis method suitable for using personal computer(PC). The simple computational results form PC demonstrated the validity of the present algorithm, that is, the computational high accuracy and speed, and the flexibility of programming. We compared with results of the transfer matrix method and the reference. We also confirmed that the present algorithm could provide the solutions of high accuracy for system with a lots of intermediate rigid supports and stiffeners. And all boundary conditions and the intermediate stiff supports between shell and foundation could be treated only by adequately varying the values of the spring constants.

  • In recent years, scientific community has found renewed interest in hypersonic flight research. These hypersonic vehicles undergo severe aero-thermal environments during their flight regimes. One of the most important topics of research in hypersonic aerodynamics is to find a reasonable way of calculating either the surface temperature or the heat flux to surface when its temperature is held fixed. This requires modeling of physical and chemical processes. Hyperbolic system of equations with stiff relaxation method are being identified in recent literature as a novel method of predicting long time behavior of systems such as gas at high temperatures. In present work, Energy Relaxation Method (ERM) has been considered to simulate the real gas flow over a 2-D cylinder. Present heat flux results over the cylinder compared well with the experiment. Thus, real gas effects in hypersonic flows can be modeled through energy relaxation method.

Combination resonance analysis of FG porous cylindrical shell under two-term excitation

  • This paper presents the combination resonances of FG porous (FGP) cylindrical shell under two-term excitation. The effect of structural damping on the system response is also considered. With regard to classical plate theory of shells, von-$K{\acute{a}}rm{\acute{a}}n$ equation and Hook law, the relations of stress-strain is derived for shell. According to the Galerkin method, the discretized motion equation is obtained. The combination resonances are obtained by using the method of multiple scales. Four types of FGP distributions consist of uniform porosity, non-symmetric porosity soft, non-symmetric porosity stiff and symmetric porosity distribution are considered. The influence of various porosity distributions, porosity coefficients of cylindrical shell and amplitude excitations on the combination resonances for FGP cylindrical shells is investigated.

  • This paper presents a mathematical model suitable for the calculation of laminated glass, i.e. glass plates combined with an interlayer material. The model is based on a beam differential equation for each glass plate and a separate differential equation for the slip in the interlayer. In addition to slip, the model takes into account prestressing force in the interlayer. It is possible to combine the two contributions arbitrarily, which is important because the glass sheet fabrication process changes the stiffness of the interlayer in ways that are not easily predictable and could introduce prestressing of varying magnitude. The model is suitable for reformulation into an inverse procedure for calculation of the relevant parameters. Model consisting of a system of differential-algebraic equations, proved too stiff for cases with the thin interlayer. This novel approach covers the full range of possible stiffnesses of layered glass sheets, i.e., from zero to infinite stiffness of the interlayer. The comparison of numerical and experimental results contributes to the validation of the model.

  • This paper presents analysis of dynamic characteristics of a high-speed milling spindle with a drawbar and a built-in motor. The spindle system with a built-in motor can be used to simplify the structure of machine tools, to improve the machining flexibility of machine tools, and to perform the high speed machining. In this system the shaft is usually assumed as a rigid rotor. In this paper, the modal characteristics of drawbar in high-speed milling spindle system due to supporting stiffness between drawbar and shaft and considering the mass and stiffness effects of the built-in motor's rotor are analyzed by numerical method. The result shows enough stiff supports must be provided between shaft and drawbar to prevent occurring drawbar vibration lower than the natural frequency of 1st bending mode of spindle. And considering the mass and stiffness of built-in motor's rotor is important thing to derive more accurate results.

Equilibrium Property of Ion Exchange Resin for Silica Removal at Ultralow Concentration (초저이온농도에서 이온교환수지에 의한 실리카제거 평형특성)

  • Ion exchange resin was used to remove silica ion at ultralow concentration. The effects of temperature, type of ion exchange resin and single/mixed-resin systems on removal efficiency were estimated. As temperature increased, the slope of concentration profile became stiff, and the equilibrium concentration was higher. In the single resin system, the removal of silica was continued up to 400 min, but the silica concentration was recovered to initial concentration after 400 min due to the effect of dissolved $CO_2$. In the mixed-resin system it took about 600 min to reach equilibrium. Because of faster cation exchange reaction than anion exchange reaction, the effect of $CO_2$ could be removed. Based on the experimental results carried out in the mixed-resin system, the selectivity coefficients of silica ion for each ion exchange resin were calculated at some specific temperatures. The temperature dependency of the selectivity coefficient was expressed by the equation of Kraus-Raridon type.

  • In this study, the effect of sizing on the physical and mechanical characteristics of Hansan ramie was studied. 2 kinds of Hansan ramie were used for this study and one kind of the chinese ramie was also used for comparing with the characteristics of Hansan ramies. The following results were obtained from this experimental study. The wrinkle recovery angle was gradually reduced according to the increasing of the concentration of sizing agent. As the size agent could easily penetrate between the thick yarms, the effect of sizing on the wrinkle recovery angle was evident on the Chinese and Hansan coarse ramie. The result of KES-F system showed that the sizing affected much on the bending properties and shear properties. As the size concentration was increased the shear properties were increased more evidently on the Chinese and Hansan coarse ramie. The result of KES-F system showed that the sizing affected much on the bending properties and shear properties. As the size concentration was increased the shear properties were increased more evidently than the bending properties. The other mechanical properties didn't changed much by sizing. The calculated primary hand value also showed that the ramie became more stiff after sizing.

A Study on the Axial stiffness of Bellows (벨로즈의 종방향 강성에 관한 연구)

  • Usually bellows are designed for the purpose of absorbing axial movement. To find out axial stiffness of bellows the axisymmetric shell theory using the finite element method is adopted in this paper. Bellows can be idealised by series of conical frustum-shaped elements because it is axisymmetric shell structure. The force required to deflect bellows axilly is a function of the dimensions of the bellows and the materials from which they are made. The displancements of nodal points due to small increment of force are calculated by the finite element method and the calculated nodal displacements are added to r-z cylinderical coordinates of nodal points. The new stiffness matrix of the system using the new coordinates of nodal points is adopted to calculate the another increments of nodal dis-placements that is the step by method is used in this paper. spring constant is analyzed according to the changing geometric factors of u-shaped bellows. The FEM results were agreed with experiment. Using developed FORTRAN PROGRAM spring constant can be predicted by input of a few factors.
