Autostereoscopic Multiview 3D Display System based on Volume Hologram (체적 홀로그램을 이용한 무안경 다안식 3D 디스플레이 시스템)

  • We present an autostereoscopic 3D display system using volume hologram. In this proposed system, the interference pattern of angular multiplexed plane reference and object beams are recorded into a volume hologram, which plays a role of guiding object beams of multi-view images into the desired perspective directions. For reconstruction, object beams containing the desired multi-view image information, which satisfy Bragg matching condition, are illuminated in the time-division multiplexed manner onto the crystal. Then multiple stereoscopic images are projected to the display plane for autostereoscopic 3D viewing. It is possible to make a high resolution multiview 3D display system independent upon the viewpoint.

3D Stereoscopic Terrain Extraction of Road Cut Failure Slope Using Unmanned Helicopter Photography System (무인 헬리콥터 사진촬영시스템을 이용한 도로 절개지 붕괴사면 3차원 입체 지형 추출)

  • Acquisition of information on failure slope, which may cause apprehension of second hand damage, requires acquisition of fast and accurate topographical data and efficient expression in indirect surveying method without accessing as needed. Therefore, in this study, the images on the intended area were photographed through hovering in the air by approaching collapsed road cut slope with the use of unmanned helicopter photography system. As a result of comparing the points observed by no prism total station and the 10 coordinate points analyzed through image analysis, the averages of absolute values were shown to be 0.056m in X axis direction, 0.082m in Y axis direction and 0.066m Z axis direction. In addition, the RMSE of the error for 10 points of test points were 0.015636m in X axis direction, 0.021319m in Y axis direction and 0.018734m in Z axis direction. Therefore, this method can determine the range of slope and longitudinal and cross sections of each slope in dangerous area that cannot be approached in relational image matching method for the terrains of such collapsed cut slope.

Effects of the seat position in the theater on visual fatigue, presence and perceived characteristics (3D 영화 상영관의 좌석별 위치에 따른 시각피로도, 프레즌스, 그리고 인지된 특성 분석)

  • This paper deals with the effects of seat position in the theater on viewers' visual fatigue, presence, and perceived characteristics. As a result of this study, there is a significantly positive effect of Dx(deviation from mean distance from the screen) and viewing angle on visual fatigue. Second, there is no significant effect of seat position on presence. Finally, there is a significantly negative effect of Dx and viewing angle on perceived characteristics. This means, as the author assume, the seat position in the theater during watching a 3D movie is important in case of visual fatigue and perceived characteristics. This paper provides an empirical result related to effect of spatial variable at 3D theater on 3D effect. The results could be helpful to establish spatial standard in 3D theater and 3D contents; furthermore, it could help to establish regulations of visual fatigue induced from 3D effects and indications for 3D efficiency.

Depth estimation and View Synthesis using Haze Information (실안개를 이용한 단일 영상으로부터의 깊이정보 획득 및 뷰 생성 알고리듬)

  • Previous approaches to the 2D to 3D conversion problem require heavy computation or considerable amount of user input. In this paper, we propose a rather simple method in estimating the depth map from a single image using a monocular depth cue: haze. Using the haze imaging model, we obtain the distance information and estimate a reliable depth map from a single scenery image. Using the depth map, we also suggest an algorithm that converts the single image to 3D stereoscopic images. We determine a disparity value for each pixel from the original 'left' image and generate a corresponding 'right' image. Results show that the algorithm gives well refined depth maps despite the simplicity of the approach.

  • 객체 기반의 3차원 입체 변환 기법은 연속적으로 입력되는 2D 동영상에서 객체를 추출하여 입체 영상으로 변환하는 기법을 말한다. 두 눈에 투시되는 각 객체마다 서로 다른 시차를 가져야 입체감을 느낄 수 있다. 따라서 2D 영상에서 정확한 객체를 추출하는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 프레임간의 차이를 이용하여 대략의 움직이는 객체 영역을 얻고, 그래프 및 알고리즘을 사용하여 정확하고 안정적인 객체를 자동으로 추출한다. 스크린과 양안 사이의 거리를 고려하여 입체 영상을 만들어 낸다. 후처리 단계에서는 입체 영상을 만들어 내면서 생긴 빈 공간을 채운다. 실험에서는 2D 영상으로부터 입체 영상을 생성한 것을 보여 준다.

A Study on User Interface Design According to 3D Menu Type and Control Type for 3D Displays

  • Objective: We proposed an effective 3D menu manipulation alternative with a usability test. This was performed in a 3D environment with 3D menu and control manipulation methods. Background: As 3D stereoscopic displays became generalized, various 3D applications were being used not just movies, games, but also mobile contents and advertisements. However, when a user interface was designed in a 3D environment, it was lacked that a clear standard and result of an efficiency and usability as like a 2D environment. Method: We implemented 9 kinds of 3D menu types based on 3D menu hierarchies, menu layouts and dimensions. And we extracted 3 representative control types in a 3D environment. We performed usability evaluation with full factorial design for 27 menu alternatives with 2 types of menu manipulation tasks. In this condition, we measured the performance time, subjective discomfort and eye-fatigue. Results: A control type had the significant effect, and the effect of menu types had the different result depending on given tasks. Conclusion: This experiment showed the interaction of menu and control types depended on 3D menu manipulation tasks were significant in a 3D user interface design. Therefore, as a purpose of a 3D menu manipulation task, 3D menu types and control types were should be considered. Application: We supposed this result was should be applied in a 3D menu contents design.

  • This paper presents design and implementation methods of the real-time three dimensional tracking system of the gazing point. The proposed method is based on three dimensional data processing of eye images in the 3D world coordinates. The system hardware consists of two conventional CCD cameras for acquisition of stereoscopic image and computer for processing. And in this paper, the advantages of the proposed algorithm and test results ate described.

  • To interact with surroundings robots and other automated machines employ sensors. However, the sensors measurements are uncertain in some amount and this may limit the potential applications of machines. Varying surrounding conditions and noises of sensor signals are major sources of the uncertainty. In this paper the uncertainty is tried to be reduced by using redundant sensor systems, where the redundancy is accomplished by varying the parameters of logically defined sensors. The target value redundantly measured is estimated adaptively. An experiment was done for measuring the stereoscopic 3D position measurement in an inconsistent light condition.

  • Readings from robotic sensors are somewhat uncertain. This uncertainty problem makes it difficult to employ the sensor feedback controlled robots widely in real industrial sites, In this paper, redundant sensor fusion techniques are discussed to effectively overcome the sensor uncertainty, A weighted averaging technique is proposed under static and dynamic sensing environments. Proposed technique is tested by the experiments of stereoscopic 3d position measurements.

  • 3D 콘텐츠에 대한 관심이 증가함에 따라 3D 시청 및 제작에 대한 가이드라인의 필요성도 함께 증가하고 있다. 3D 안정 시청 가이드 라인은 3D 시청으로 인한 시청자의 시각적 불쾌감이나 피로감을 방지하는데 목적을 두고 있으며, 최근 일본의 3DC에서는 과도한 수렴-조절 불일치를 방지하기 위해 양안 시차 $1^{\circ}$를 쾌적 시차 범위로 권고하고 있다. 하지만 이 쾌적 시차는 절대적인 수치가 아니며, 콘텐츠의 특성 및 시청 조건에 따라 변하는 것으로 추정된다. 본 논문에서는 쾌적 시차를 갖는 3D 영상 콘텐츠에서 객체의 모션으로 인해 양안시차가 시공간적으로 변할 때, 야기되는 시각적 불편함의 변화에 대하여 관찰한다. 특히, 깊이 방향 모션 및 수평 방향 모션에서 객체의 속도 변화에 대한 시각적 피로감의 정도를 주관적 평가를 통하여 측정한다.
