  • The Urban Stream Assessment Technique (USAT) was suggested to give information about present urban stream condition. Domestic and foreign stream evaluation methods were analyzed and some streams were previously investigated to decide evaluation factors that could evaluate stream condition and have concern with characteristics and flood control of urban stream. The USAT consisted of three steps. High step has three characteristics concerned with functions of stream such as flood risk, stream, and ecology. In middle step, three characteristics were subdivided by ten features to describe changes and degradations of urban stream. Low step consisted of fifty three factors that explain the present condition of ten features. A survey of river experts was conducted to reflect weight among characteristics and features. The weights were calculated by analytic hierarchy process(AHP). The USAT was carried out to check over application of that in Suwon, Anyang, and Joongrang stream. The results of stream evaluation were expressed by factor index, feature index, characteristic index, total index, and evaluation grade. The results of the USAT were useful to realize changed and degraded areas. It is expected that the USAT can be used as base investigation for restoring and managing urban streams.

  • High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) devices make it possible to operate with no electrical loss by resistance. If, however, the applied current is over its critical current, the phase of HTS devices is changed to normal state, so called, quench. In this case, since resistance of HTS is increased abruptly, it can not be avoidable to damage the whole apparatus. In this study, quench detector to protect HTS devices was proposed. We designed the quench detecting circuit and tested the performance of the circuit. The detecting circuit was consisted of Op-Amp and low pass filter etc, to detect very low voltage around $1{\mu}V$. The circuit detected effectively the low voltage when over current is applied to HTS tapes. At the next step, we are going to apply and test the circuit to protect the prototype HTS cable.

  • This study researches the preferred ease of torso sloper according to body sizes and drop. For this, the eases of main body parts such as chest circumference, waist circumference, hip circumference, biacromion length, and waist back length were analysed; in addition, the drop differences of body and pattern were explored to find out characteristics of silhouette changes. The subjects were 55 women in their early 20s (aged from 20 to 24) and individual torso block made with muslin was corrected 1-3 times by a personal fitting. There were 3 meaningful results. First, the preferred ease were individually various; however, the eases of all torso blocks should be same at the pattern making step. Second, the eases were also significantly different among body size groups and the bigger group preferred less ease at the biacromion length, waist back length, armhole-depth, chest circumference, and waist circumference. Third, the eases of chest circumference and hip circumference were significantly changed among drop groups. To change their body drop, H-shape drop adopted less ease at chest circumference and more ease at hip circumference; however, A-shape drop adopted more ease at chest circumference and less ease at hip circumference.

  • The LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm, one of the most famous, is generally used because of tenacity and high mating spots and simplicity of realization, But it has trade-off between nonuniform collection and EMSE(Excess mean square error). To overcome this weakness, a variable step size is used widely, but it needs a lot of calculation loads. In this paper, we suggest changed algorithm in case of environment changes of cars and reduce amount of calculation as it uses original signal and noise signal of IGC(Instantaneous Gain Control) algorithm. In this paper, logarithmic function is removed because of real-time processing IGC. The performance of proposed algorithm is tested to adaptive noise canceller in automobile.

  • The structure of food demand is being changed according to the improvement of living standard. Moreover, the intake of animal protein is stepping up. This paper considers how much fresh-fish is consumed as source of animal protein and what extent fresh-fish have substitutive relation for meat with special reference to the change of income and price of fresh-fish and meat. And it is thought to be important work to estimate demand of fresh-fish in attemps to the prediction of food consume pattern and fishing industries in the future. For this estimation, the substitutive relation of fresh-fish and meat is essentially studied. The main conclusions of this study can be drawn as follows: 1. Fresh-fish and meat have substitutive relation on price axis. By the way, increase in demand of A (fresh-fish which have comparatively low price) can be expected according to the low of it's price against meat, but B (fresh-fish wihich have comparatively middle-high price) have peculiar demand without substitutive relation for meat. 2. Demand of A and B rise according to the income increases. 3. It is not sufficient to explain substutive relation of fresh-fish and meat without income variable. 4. Income increases bring about the more increase in demand of B than A. By the way, price increases bring about the decrease of it's consume expenditure, but A have fundamental demand as the source of animal protein. 5. In future, the intake of animal protein will step up. By the way, meat will occupy the more portion of the source of animal protein than fresh-fish.

  • The electrochemical reduction of coumarin, 7-acetoxy-4-methyl coumarin (AMC), and 7-acetoxy-4-bromomethyl coumarin (ABMC), in 0.1 M tetraethyl ammonium perchlorate/acetonitrile solution was carried out by direct current, differential pulse polarography, cyclic voltammetry, and controlled potential coulometry. The electrochemical reduction of ABMC was proceeded through three steps of electron transfer coupled with the chemical reactions. The color of solution was changed to yellow when the carbonyl group was reduced during 2nd step (-1.8 volts) and independented with cleavage of bromo group. Highest fluorescence intensity showed when the electrochemical reduction of AMC was controlled at near the potential (-2.3 volts vs. Ag/AgCl).

  • Post-synthesis is used to synthesize organic hybrid inorganic mesoporous sieves. In this method, the activity and structure of the base sieve are crucial to obtain the definable hybrid materials. The chemical and physical properties of the base can be largely changed either by the final step of its synthesizing processes, by template removal which is accomplished with the oxidative thermal decomposition (burning) method or by solvent extraction method. In this paper we compared two methods for the post-synthesis of organic hybrid MCM-48. When the template was extracted with HCl/alcohol mixture, the final product showed larger pore size, larger pore volume and better crystallinity compared to the case of the thermal decomposition. The reactivity of the surface silanol group of template free MCM-48 was also checked with an alkylsilylation reagent $CH_2=CHSi(OC_2H_5)_3$. Raman and $^{29}Si$ NMR spectra of MCM-48 in the test reaction indicated that more of the organic group was grafted to the surface of the sample after the template was removed with the solvent extraction method. Direct synthesis of vinyl-MCM-48 was also investigated and its characteristics were compared with the case of post-synthesis. From the results, it was suggested that the structure and chemical reactivity can be maintained in the solvent extraction method and that organic grafting after the solvent extraction can be a good candidate to synthesize a definable hybrid porous material.

  • Previous walking pattern generation methods could generate walking patterns that allow only straight walking on flat and uneven terrain. They were unable to generate modifiable walking patterns whereby the sagittal and lateral step lengths and walking direction can be changed at every footstep. This paper proposes a novel walking pattern generation method to realize modifiable walking of humanoid robots on unknown uneven terrain. The proposed method employs a walking pattern generator based on the 3-D linear inverted pendulum model (LIPM), which enables a humanoid robot to vary its walking patterns at every footstep. A control strategy for walking on unknown uneven terrain is proposed. Virtual spring-damper (VSD) models are used to compensate for the disturbances that occur between the robot and the terrain when the robot walks on uneven terrain with unknown height. In addition, methods for generating the foot and vertical center of mass (COM) of the 3-D LIPM trajectories are developed to realize stable walking on unknown uneven terrain. The proposed method is implemented on a small-sized humanoid robot platform, DARwIn-OP and its effectiveness is demonstrated experimentally.

  • A hybrid system is a dynamical system in which states can be changed continuously and discretely. Simulation based on numerical methods is the widely used technique for analyzing complicated hybrid systems. Numerical simulation of hybrid systems, however, is subject to two types of numerical errors: truncation error and round-off error. The effect of such errors can make an impossible transition step to become possible during simulation, and thus, to generate a simulation behavior that is not allowed by the model. The possibility of an incorrect simulation behavior reduces con.dence in simulation-based analysis since it is impossible to know whether a particular simulation trace is allowed by the model or not. To address this problem, we define the notion of Instrumented Hybrid Automata (IHA), which considers the effect of accumulated numerical errors on discrete transition steps. We then show how to convert Hybrid Automata (HA) to IRA and prove that every simulation behavior of IHA preserves the discrete transition steps of some behavior in HA; that is, simulation of IHA is sound with respect to HA.

  • The effect of pressure cycling of $Zr_{0.9}Ti_{0.1}Cr_{0.7}Fe_{1.3}$ on the hydrogenation properties was investigated using the P-C-Isotherm curves and hydrogen absorption rate curves in the isotherm condition. The reversible hydrogen absorption capacity was decreased about 45 % after 3300 cycles. In the case of activated sample, the rate controlling steps of hydriding reaction changed from the surface reaction to the hydrogen diffusion process through hydride phase sequentially as reaction proceeded. After 3300 cycles, the sequential change of rate controlling step was same as activated one. However, the hydrogen absorption rate significantly decreased. It is suggested that the degradation of $Zr_{0.9}Ti_{0.1}Cr_{0.7}Fe_{1.3}$ can be interpreted with the formation of $ZrFe_3$ phase at the particle surface.
