A Bibliographical Study on the Processing Methods of Samhaeju (삼해주 양조에 관한 문헌적 고찰)

  • Information on brew time for Samhaeju can get from the 26 kinds of classical literature, which deal with Samhaeju. Usually, Samhaeju is brewed on any day of the Boar in January of the lunar calendar. However, any day of the Boar in a year seams to be possible for the brew time. In the first step of the manufacture procedure, nonglutinous and glutinous rice are used with the same propontion. The nonglutious and glutinous rice ratio become higher on the 2nd and the 3rd step than in the 1st step. The amount of water adding to the Samhaeju-base is increased step by step. In the first step, processing type of the cereal is predominantly gruel type, which is followed by rice calce. In the 2nd step, rice cake and doughnut-type rice cake are more common type than gruel type. In the 3rd step, processing type of the cereal in Samhaeju is mostly steamed water-soaked rice. Companing China and Japan with Korea, there is difference in the processing types of the cereal. They use steamed water-soaked rice in any step. Nuruk(fermenter) is added to the cold processed cereal in the first step.

Improved Preimage Attacks on RIPEMD-160 and HAS-160

  • The hash function RIPEMD-160 is a worldwide ISO/IEC standard and the hash function HAS-160 is the Korean hash standard and is widely used in Korea. On the basis of differential meet-in-the-middle attack and biclique technique, a preimage attack on 34-step RIPEMD-160 with message padding and a pseudo-preimage attack on 71-step HAS-160 without message padding are proposed. The former is the first preimage attack from the first step, the latter increases the best pseudo-preimage attack from the first step by 5 steps. Furthermore, we locate the linear spaces in another message words and exchange the bicliques construction process and the mask vector search process. A preimage attack on 35-step RIPEMD-160 and a preimage attack on 71-step HAS-160 are presented. Both of the attacks are from the intermediate step and satisfy the message padding. They improve the best preimage attacks from the intermediate step on step-reduced RIPEMD-160 and HAS-160 by 4 and 3 steps respectively. As far as we know, they are the best preimage and pseudo-preimage attacks on step-reduced RIPEMD-160 and HAS-160 respectively in terms of number of steps.

  • In order to improve the frictional resistance of existing high-speed planning hull, a step-like linear transformation has been researched which forms an air layer on the bottom. However, there is a lack of research on the proper position to confirm the effect of Running Attitude and step on each position. In this study, we confirmed the change of the Running Attitude, the effect of the step and the change of the frictional resistance when the step was applied in the longitudinal location.

Conjunctive Query Rewriting in the Context of Data Integration

  • The problem of query rewriting using views has interested in the context of data integration where source data is described by the views on global relations. When the query and views are of the form of conjunctive queries, the rewriting is a union of conjunctive queries each of which is contained in the original query and consists of only views. Most previous methods for query rewriting using views are 2-step algorithms. In the first step, they identify the views that are useful in rewriting and in the second step they construct all correct rewritings by combining the views that gained in the first step. The larger the number of selected views in the first step, the larger the number of candidate rewritings in the second step. We want to minimize the number of selected views in the first step by defining stringent conditions for a view to be participated in rewritings. In this paper, first we offer a necessary condition for the existence of a rewriting that includes a view. For the common case that predicate repetitions are not allowed in the bodies of views, we show that our algorithm for testing the condition is done in a polynomial-time. Second, we offer an algorithm to construct contained rewritings using the view instances that are computed in the first step. The exponential containment-mapping test in the second step is not needed in our algorithm.

Measurement of Molecular Weights of Melamine-Urea-Formaldehyde Resins and Their Influences to Properties of Medium Density Fiberboards

  • This study attempted to measure molecular weight (MW) of melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resins prepared by two different synthesis methods: the one-step MUF resins were synthesized in one batch procedure, while the two-step MUF resins were prepared by a physical mixing of urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin with melamine-formaldehyde (MF) resin that had been synthesized in a separate procedure. The properties of medium density fiberboard (MDF) panels bonded with two types of MUF resins were also investigated. MWs of these MUF resins were measured using gel permeation chromatography (GPC). In addition, this study measured the MWs of one-step MUF resin during its synthesis procedure. The performance of two types of MUF resins was evaluated by determining properties of MDF panels prepared in laboratory. As the synthesis procedure progressed, both number average MW ($M_n$) and weight average MW ($M_w$) of one-step MUF resin gradually increased, while the polydispersity index (PDI) decreased. And low Mw species of the resin predominantly decreased as the synthesis step progressed. The one-step MUF resin showed greater $M_n$ and $M_w$ than those of the two-step ones even though the PDI values of both resins were very similar each other. As expected, the one-step MUF resin resulted in better properties of MDF panels than those of two-step resins. In particular, the one-step MUF resin provided better internal bond (IB) strength and thickness swelling (TS) with MDF panels than those of two-step ones, indicating better water resistance of the one-step resin. These results suggest that the preparation method of MUF resins have a great impact on the MW and final panel properties.

  • Information processing in variable and noisy environments is usually accomplished by means of adaptive filters. Among various adaptive algorithms, Least Mean Square (LMS) has become the most popular for its robustness, good tracking capabilities and simplicity, both in terms of computational load and easiness of implementation. In practical application of the LMS algorithm, the most important key parameter is the Step Size. As is well known, if the Step Size is large, the convergence rate of the algorithm will be rapid, but the steady state mean square error (MSE) will increase. On the other hand, if the Step Size is small, the steady state MSE will be small, but the convergence rate will be slow. Many researches have been proposed to alleviate this drawback by using a variable Step Size. In this paper, a new variable Step Size LMS(VSSLMS) called Categorized VSSLMS (CVSSLMS) is proposed. CVSSLMS updates the Step Size by categorizing the current status of the gradient, hence significantly improves the convergence rate. The performance of the proposed algorithm was verified from the view point of convergence rate, Excessive Mean Square Error(EMSE), and complexity through experiments.

Digestion Pattern of Antihypertensive Angiotensin I-Converting Enzyme Inhibitory Peptides from Saccharomyces cerevisiae in a Successive Simulated Gastricintestinal Bioreactor

  • A cell-free extract of Saccharomyces cerevisiae containing the angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory peptide was treated in a successive simulated gastric-intestinal bioreactor (step 1: amylase digestion, step 2: gastric fluid digestion, step 3: intestinal fluid digestion) to illustrate the absorption pattern of antihypertensive ACE inhibitory peptide, and the ACE inhibitory activities of each step were determined. Total ACE inhibitory activities of step 1, step 2, and step 3 were 55.96%, 80.09%, and 76.77%, respectively. The peptide sequence of each steps was analyzed by MS/MS spectrophotometry. Eleven kinds of representative peptide sequences were conserved in each step, and representative new peptides including RLPTESVPEPK were identified in step 3.

  • In a power system, an out-of-step condition causes a variety of risk such as serious damage to system elements, tripping of loads and generators, mal-operation of relays, etc. Therefore, it is very important to detect the out-of- step condition and take a proper measure. This paper presents a study on implementation of out-of-step detection algorithm using VHDL(Very high speed Hardware Description Language). The structure of out-of-step detection algorithm is analyzed for development of out-of-step detection relay on the FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array). The out-of-step algorithm is separated to 4 parts: DFT IP, complex power calculation IP, out-of-step detection IP, control unit. Each parts are developed and simulated by using VHDL.

  • In case of chopper control is used for the d.c motor In the electric vehicle(EV) in general step down chopper is used for the driving and the step-up chopper is used for the regeneration. Bilateral variable ratio chopper system(BVRCS) formed by parallel combination of upper two chopper methods step-down, step-up and step-up/down chopper operations by duty cycle, circuit element and driving condition. In this paper, BVRCS is proposed for the simulated and experimented control of d.c motor in the EV. By the result of simulation BVRCS represents same driving power compared to the step-down and excellent breaking power compared to the step-up chopper system because of the greater motor current.

  • The amorphous silicon films deposited by low pressure chemical vapor deposition are crystallized by the various annealing techniques including low-temperature furnace annealing and two-step annealing. Two-step annealing is the combination of furnace annealing at 600 [.deg. C] for 24 h and the sequential furnace annealing at 950 [.deg. C] 1h or the excimer laser annealing. It s found that two-step annealings reduce the in-grain defects significantly without changing the grain boundary structure. The performance of the poly-Si thin film transistors (TFTs) produced by employing the tow-step annealing has been improved significantly compared with those of one-step annealing.
