Many researchers have reported that adding steel fiber to concrete improved its tensile and flexural strength significantly, but relatively few studies have been made on the compressive behavior of SFRC(steel fiber reinforced concrete). It is still less in case of high strength SFRC. The main objective of this research is to examine the effect of adding steel fiber on the compressive strength of high strength SFRC using fiber reinforcing index$(RI,\;V_f(l/d))$. It was found from the study that compressive strength was noticeably increased in proportion to RI.

As composite materials, the addition of steel fiber in concrete significantly improves the engineering properties of structural members, notably shear strength and ductility, In this study, shear capacity evaluation method according to steel fiber contents was proposed from the literature surveys and member tests. For this, previously proposed five shear strength equation were examined and evaluated by maximum shear strength and shear capacity ratio. From the parametric study and regression analysis, following conclusion can be made; the maximum shear strength of steel fiber reinforced column will be estimated by relative shear capacity ratio.

Concrete containing discontinuous discrete steel fiber in a normal concrete is called steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC). Tensile as well as flexural strengths of concrete could be substantially increased by introducing closely spaced fibers which delay the onset of tension cracks and increase the tension strength of cracks. However, many properties of SFRC have not been investigated, especially properties on repeated loadings. Thus, the purposes of this dissertation is to study the flexural fatigue characteristics of SFRC considering cumulative damage. A series of experimental tests such as compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, flexural strength, flexural fatigue, and two steps stress level fatigue were conducted to clarify the basic properties and fatigue-related properties of SFRC. The main experimental variables were steel fiber fraction (0, 0.4, 0.7, 1, 1.5%), aspect ratio (60, 83). The principal results obtained through this study are as follows: The results of flexural fatigue tests showed that the flexural fatigue life of SFRC is approxmately 65% of ultimate strength, while that of plain is less than 58%. Especially, the behavior of flexural fatigue life shows excellent performance at 1.0% of steel-fiber volume fraction. The cumulative damage test of high-low two stress levels is within the value of 0.6 ∼ 1.1, while that of low-high stress steps is within the value of 2.4 ∼ 4.0.

This experimental study were carried out in order to investigate the shear strength of steel fiber reinforced Concrete(SFRC). 96 specimens have been tested for shear strength and 32 specimens for flexural. The test parameters were the volume fraction of steel fiber and aspect ratio. The test results show that shear strength are increased as fiber content, aspect ratio increases.
Investigations on the behavior of steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete beams with shear confinement are accomplished to determine their ultimate shear strength including diagonal tension strength. The parameters varied were the shear confinement ratio(Ps), and fiber volume fraction(Vs). Ultimate shear strength increased significantly in steel fiber reinforced concrete beam without shear confinement. In steel- fiber reinforced high strength concrete beams with shear confinement, there is no increase of ultimate shear strength but shows much beneficial effects of Ductility Capacity.

To investgate the fracture behavior of the steel fiber reinforced concreate, the specimens with different steel fiber contents of 0.0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, were made and notched with differents notch depth ratios of 0.0,0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and the three point bend tests were followed. Test results of 16 different types of above combined specimens were summarized as follows. 1.The load line deflection contents were found to increase 5%, 16%, 19%, respectively, compared to the unnotched specimen with the increased of initial notch depth ratio to 0.2,0.4, 0.6, respectively. 2.The frexural strength were found to decrease 14%, 16%, 21 %, respectively, compared to the unnotched specimen with the increase of initial notch depth ratio to 0.2, 0.4, 0.6,respectively. 3.The stress intensity factors of the steel fiber reinforced concrete were found to increase 1.1 1.5 1.9 times, respectively, compared to the concrete with no steel fiber content with the increase of fiber content to 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, respectively. 4.The influence of the mass of the steel fiber reinforced concrete to the whole fracture energy was found to be minor with 6~8 % contribution. 5.The fracture energy of the steel fiber reinforced concrete, considering the load-deflection curve and concrete mass was found to be approximately 350-380kg m/m$^2$. 6.The regression analysis through the relationship between the compressive(Oc)/tensile (OT) strength and fracture energy(Gf) showed that the fracture energy of the steel fiber reinforced concrete could be predicted as follows. Gf= 19.2662 Oc - 3940.4 Gf= 246.876 OT- 6008.8
With the aim to provide an efficient platform for the elastic-plastic analysis of steel structures, reinforced concrete (RC) structures and steel-concrete composite structures, a program iFiberLUT based on the fiber model was developed within the framework of ABAQUS. This program contains an ABAQUS Fiber Generator which can automatically divide the beam and column cross sections into fiber sections, and a material library which includes several concrete and steel uniaxial material models. The range of applications of iFiberLUT is introduced and its feasibility is verified through previously reported test data of individual structural members as well as planar steel frames, RC frames and composite frames subjected to various loadings. The simulation results indicate that the developed program is able to achieve high calculation accuracy and favorable convergence within a wide range of applications.

The bond between reinforcing bar and concrete is a significant factor to confirm that they behave uniformly in the reinforced concrete. Thus, the studies on this field have been conducted by many researchers. But for the high strength lightweight concrete few studies have been done. In this study, the steel fiber reinforced high strength lightweight concrete developed to complement the brittleness of the high strength lightweight concrete was studied experimentally to find the local bond stress. Total 20 specimens were tested and the measured test values were compared with those calculated according to ACI 318-95 code and CEB-FIP code, respectively. The results indicate that the maximum bond stress has been influenced by increment of volume fracture of steel fiber, compressive strength and cover, Especially steel fiber caused not only increment of bond strength but also ductile behaviro.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the structural performance of Reinforced steel fiber concrete structures using early age concrete. Reinforced concrete structures using early age concrete are result in the degradation of structural performance due to crack, overload, unexpected vibration and impact load. Specimens, designed by the over 0.75% of steel fiber incorporated, were showed the ductile behavior and failed slowly with flexure and flexure-shear. Increasing the percent of steel fiber incorporated(0.25~2.0%), the ultimate shear stress of each specimen were increased 12~40% than that of specimen SSS.
To explore the feasibility of eliminating the longitudinal rebars and stirrups by using ultra-high-performance fiber reinforcement concrete (UHPFRC) in concrete encased steel composite stub column, compressive behavior of UHPFRC encased steel stub column has been experimentally investigated. Effect of concrete types (normal strength concrete, high strength concrete and UHPFRC), fiber fractions, and transverse reinforcement ratio on failure mode, ductility behavior and axial compressive resistance of composite columns have been quantified through axial compression tests. The experimental results show that concrete encased composite columns with NSC and HSC exhibit concrete crushing and spalling failure, respectively, while composite columns using UHPFRC exhibit concrete spitting and no concrete spalling is observed after failure. The incorporation of steel fiber as micro reinforcement significantly improves the concrete toughness, restrains the crack propagation and thus avoids the concrete spalling. No evidence of local buckling of rebars or yielding of stirrups has been detected in composite columns using UHPFRC. Steel fibers improve the bond strength between the concrete and, rebars and core shaped steel which contribute to the improvement of confining pressure on concrete. Three prediction models in Eurocode 4, AISC 360 and JGJ 138 and a proposed toughness index (T.I.) are employed to evaluate the compressive resistance and post peak ductility of the composite columns. It is found that all these three models predict close the compressive resistance of UHPFRC encased composite columns with/without the transverse reinforcement. UHPFRC encased composite columns can achieve a comparable level of ductility with the reinforced concrete (RC) columns using normal strength concrete. In terms of compressive resistance behavior, the feasibility of UHPFRC encased steel composite stub columns with lesser longitudinal reinforcement and stirrups has been verified in this study.
