Study on bidirectional fluid-solid coupling characteristics of reactor coolant pump under steady-state condition

  • The AP1000 reactor coolant pump is a vertical shielded-mixed flow pump, is the most important coolant power supply and energy exchange equipment in nuclear reactor primary circuit system, whose steadystate and transient performance affect the safety of the whole nuclear island. Moreover, safety demonstration of reactor coolant pump is the most important step to judge whether it can be practiced, among which software simulation is the first step of theoretical verification. This paper mainly introduces the fluid-solid coupling simulation method applied to reactor coolant pump, studying the feasibility of simulation results based on workbench fluid-solid coupling technology. The study found that: for the unsteady calculations of the pure liquid media, the average head of the reactor coolant pump with bidirectional fluid-solid coupling decreases to a certain extent. And the coupling result is closer to the real experimental value. The large stress and deformation of rotor under different flow conditions are mainly distributed on impeller and idler, and the stress concentration mainly occurs at the junction of front cover plate and blade outlet. Among the factors that affect the dynamic stress change of rotor, the pressure load takes a dominant position.

  • The aim of this project is to analyze the queueing model with the two types of customers which either can wait unrestrictedly or wait restrictively in the system depending on the condition of service facility unless they may be served immediately. This model consists of the three-dimensional state space and then quasi birth-death process is formulated. The steady-state probabilities and measures of performance of this system are derived by using Matrix Geometric method.

  • Cylindrical plunge grinding is widely used for final machining process of precision parts such as automobile, aircraft, measurement units. But in order to make parts which have high precision accuracy and high surface integrity, it is necessary to consider grinding characteristics due to accumulation phenomena of grinding wheel in plunge grinding process. In this study, in order to examine closely plunge grinding process, grinding power, grinding force, real depth of cut are monitored in transient state, steady state and spark out state. As the result, it is shown that grinding power and force are affected by dressing condition, depth of cut and speed ratio and that there exist threshold grinding force and it also affected by dressing condition.   • Acetyl-L-carnitine (ALC), an endogenous component of L-Carnitine, is the acetyl ester of carnitine that has been reported to be beneficial in depressive disorders and Alzheimer's disease.ALC is so hygroscopic that deliquescence took place when it absorbed moisture by 15%(w/w) in a week and then reached steady-state at 45%(w/w) in 40$^{\circ}C$, 75% RH storage condition. Therefore it is necessary to prevent ALC from absorbing atmospheric moisture. For this purpose, we chose hydroxypropylmethylcellulose phthalate (HPMCP) an enteric polymer, as a film former.   • An analysis on the steady-state has been made of flow of a compressible fluid rapidly-rotating in a pipe. The flow is induced by an small arbitrary azimuthally-varying thermal forcing added on the basic state of rigid body isothermal rotation. The system Ekman number is assumed to be very small value. Analytic solutions have been obtained for axisymmetric and non-axisymmetric types, in which the axisymmetric solution comes from the azimuthally-averaged wall boundary condition and the non-axisymmetric solution from fluctuating wall boundary condition.

  • Exhaust system is composed of several parts. Among, them , design of muffler system strongly influences on engine efficiency and noise reduction. So , through comprehension of flow characteristics inside muffler is necessary . In this study , three-dimensional steady and unsteady compressible flow analysis was performed to understand the flow characteristics, pressure loss and amplitude variation of pulsating pressure. The computational grid generation was carried out using commercial preprocessor ICEM CFD/CAE. And the three-dimensional fluid motion inside the muffler was analyzed by STAR-CD, the computational fluid dynamics code. RNG k-$\varepsilon$ tubulence model was applied to consider the complexity of the geometry and fluid motion. The steady and unsteady flow field inside muffler such as velocity distribution, pulsating pressure and pressure loss was examined. In case of unsteady state analysis, velocity of inlet region was converted from measured pulsating pressure. Experimental measurement of pressure and temperature was carried out to provide the boundary and initial condition for computational study under three engine operating conditions. As a result of this study, we could identify the flow characteristics inside the muffler and obtain the pressure loss, amplitude variation of pulsating exhaust gas.

  • To find out the mineral cycles of calcium, magnesium and sodium in dynamic grassland cosystems in a steady state condition, this investigation was conducted along the northwest side on Mt. Kwanak. The experimental results may he suromarized on the communities of a Zoysia japonica and a Miscanthus sinesis as follows. As compared with some properties of the surface soils among two semi-natural grasslands, cal- cium (Ca) was greater quantity in a Zoysia japonica, whereas, in a Miscanthus sicensis, sodium (Na)and magnesium (Mg) were greater in Mt. Kwanak. For the case of steady production and release, the ratio of annual mineral production to the amount accumulated on the top of mineral soil in a steady state provides the estimates of release constant k. The release constants of Ca, Mg and Na of the litter were 0.42, 0.25 and 0.29 in the Zoysia japonica grassland, and were 0.41, 0.54 arid 0.62 in the Miscanthus sinensis grassland, respect- ively. The half times of Ca, Mg and Na required for the release or accumulation of the litter on the grassland were 1.65, 2.77 and 2.39 in the Zoysia japonica, and were 1.69, 1.28 and 1.12 in the Miscauthus sinensis, respectively. The increasing order of the turnover parameters of the elements was Ca, Na and Mg in the Zoysia japonica grassland, and was Na, Mg and Ca in the Miscanthus Si nens is grassland. The amounts of annual cycles for Ca, Mg, Na in the grassland ecosystem under the steady-state conditions were 1.29, 0.20 and 0.12 g /m$^2$ in the Zoysia japonica grassland and 3.91, 1.04 and 0.61 g /m$^2$ in the Miscanthus sinensis grassland.

  • This study was performed to find out the mineral cycles of manganese and zinc in dynamic grassland ecosystems in a steady state condition at the northwest side on Mt. Kwanak. The experimental results may be summarized on the communities of a Zoysia japonica and a Miscanthus sincnsis as follows. The release constants of Mn and Zn of the litter were 0.19 and 0. 14 in the Zoysia japon- ica grassland, and were 0.44 and 0.41 in a Miscanthus sincnsis grassland, respectively. The halftimes of Mn and Zn required for the release or accumulation of the litter on the grassland were 3. 65 and 4.95 years in the Zoysia japonica, and were 1.57 and 1.69 years in the Miscanthus sincnsis, respectively. The amounts of annual cycles for Mn and Zn in the grassland ecosystem under the steady-state conditions were 58.60 and 21.46 mg /$m^2$ in a Zoysia japonica, and were 372.12 and 321.49 ing /m$^2$ in a Miscanthus sincnsis grassland. Global MHD Simulation of a Prolonged Steady Weak Southward Interplanetary Magnetic Field Condition

  • We performed high-resolution three-dimensional global magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations to study the interaction between the Earth's magnetosphere and a prolonged steady southward interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) (Bz = -2nT) and slow solar wind. The simulation results show that dayside magnetic reconnection continuously occurs at the subsolar region where the magnetosheath magnetic field is antiparallel to the geomagnetic field. The plasmoid developed on closed plasma sheet field lines. We found that the vortex was generated at the magnetic equator such as (X, Y) = (7.6, 8.9) RE due to the viscous-like interaction, which was strengthened by dayside reconnection. The magnetic field and plasma properties clearly showed quasiperiodic variations with a period of 8-10 min across the vortex. Additionally, double twin parallel vorticity in the polar region was clearly seen. The peak value of the cross-polar cap potential fluctuated between 17 and 20 kV during the tail reconnection.

A Study on the Use of Low-Grade Domestic Anthracite by Anthracite - Bituminous Coal Blend Combustion in a Fluidized Bed Combustor (유동층 연소로에서 유.무연탄 혼합 연소법을 이용한 국내산 저질 무연탄의 활용에 관한 연구)

  • It has been studded that combustion and the production of air pollution of anthracite - bituminous coal blend In a fluidized bed coal combustor, The objects of thIns study were to investigate mixing characteristics of the particles as well as the combustibility of the low grade domestic anthracite coal and Imported h19h calorific bltununous coal in the fluidized bed coal combustor. They were used as coal samples ; the domestic low grade anthracite coal with heating value of 2,010kca1/kg and the Imported high grade bituminous coal with beating value of 6,520kca1/kg. Also, the effects of air flow rate and anthracite fraction on the reaching time of steady state condition have been studied. The experimental results are presented as follows. The time of reaching to steady state was affected by the temperature variation. The steady state time was about 120 minute at 300sc1h which was the fastest. It has been found that $O^2$ and $CO^2$ concentration were reached steady state at about 100 minute. It has been found that $O^2$ concentration decreased and $CO^2$ concentration increased as the height of fluidlzed bed Increased. It was found that splash zone was mainly located from 25cm to 35cm above distributor. Also, as anthracite traction Increased, the mass of elutrlatlon particles Increased, and $CO^2$ concentration decreased. As gk flow rate Increased,$O^2$ concentration decreased and $CO^2$ concentration increased. Regardless of anthracite fraction and flow rate, the uncombustible weight percentage according to average diameter of elutriation particles were approldmately high In the case of One Particles. As anthracite traction and k now rate Increased, elutriation ratio Increased. As anthracite fraction was increased, exit combustible content over feeding combustible content was Increased. Regardless of anthracite fraction, size distribution of Ued material from discharge was almost constant. Over bed temperature 85$0^{\circ}C$ and excess air 20% , the difference of combution efficiencies were little. It is estimate that the combustion condition In anthracite-bituminous coal blend combustion is suitable at the velocity 0.3m/s, bed temperature 85$0^{\circ}C$, the excess air 20%.
