Status of Domestic and International Recommendations for Protection Design and Evaluation of Medical Linear Accelerator Facilities

  • Various types of high-precision radiotherapy, such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), tomotherapy (Tomo), and stereotactic body radiation therapy have been available since 1997. After being covered by insurance in 2015, the number of IMRT cases rapidly increased 18-fold from 2011 to 2018 in Korea. IMRT, which uses a high-beam irradiation monitor unit, requires higher shielding conditions than conventional radiation treatments. However, to date, research on the shielding of facilities using IMRT and the current understanding of its status are insufficient, and detailed safety regulation procedures have not been established. This study investigated the recommended criteria for the shielding evaluation of facilities using medical linear accelerators (LINACs), including 1) the current status of safety management regulations and systems in domestic and international facilities using medical LINACs and 2) the current status of the recommended standards for safety management in domestic and international facilities using medical LINACs. It is necessary to develop and introduce a safety management system for facilities using LINACs for clinical applications that is suitable for the domestic medical environment and corresponds to the safety management systems for LINACs used overseas.

Malnutritional Status and It's Related Factors of Demented Elderly in Long-term Care Facilities (시설 치매노인의 영양불량 상태 영향요인)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze factors affecting malnutritional status of elders with dementia in facilities. The subjects were 140 elders with dementia residing in three nursing facilities in Chungnam, South Korea. Data were collected from May 30 to September 30 in 2016, using questionnaires. The collected data were tested by t-test, ANOVA, correlation, regression analysis. The malnutritional status of elders with dementia in facilities was high in the high-risk group (84, 60.0%), and the nutritional status was appeared to be related to sex, long-term care grade, Korean version-Activities of Daily Living and feeding difficulty and cognitive function. As a result of multiple regression analysis, significant influence variables on malnutritional status were Activities of Daily Living(${\beta}=0.379$, p=.001), feeding difficulty(${\beta}=0.264$, p=.001), cognitive function(${\beta}=-0.187$, p=.014) and these variables showed an explanatory power of 35.9% on malnutritional status. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data for the development of malnutritional status improvement program for elders in facilities with dementia.

  • In today, there has been an increase in the construction of agricultural facilities due to the development in agricultural technology. Agricultural facilities are becoming bigger and higher to plant various agriculture. This study analyzes the construction and maintenance problems in agricultural facilities. The results of this survey on the status of agricultural facilities are presented. Firstly, the construction cost is most important factor in agricultural facilities. Secondly, Materials durability is important factor in selecting the facilities. Third, safety in facilities is also important factor. The results of this research are greenhouse is lack of the law of contract and the performance and need for the construction process supervision.

  • Based on basic studies on the current status index of BF certification application for school facilities according to the BF certification implementation, this study sought to improve the direction of the different BF certification evaluation indexes for school facilities by investigating and analyzing the status of BF Reservation Certification for elementary schools. A comparative analysis of the status and evaluation indexes of 30 elementary schools in the Gyeongsang region that included indicators of external and internal facilities, sanitary facilities, guidance facilities, and other facilities indicated that school facilities are insufficient to discriminate based on criteria and thus need to be updated for accurate grading. For school facilities that are open for anyone to use, quality improvement should be induced by improving standards and adjusting points for items that earn middle and lower grades.

  • Now a days, Lots of research about 4th industrial revolution are progressing. Attempt of technologies on construction engineering field, such as construction management by drone, building equipments based on the IoT technology and etc., are continuously tried by government and private enterprises. Meanwhile, the application of advanced technologies on the military facilities should be reviewed cautiously, because of the national defense environment such as military security. Therefore, this study aim to understanding of present status of military facilities for introduction of 4th industrial revolution technology. To achieve the aim of the study, question investigation targeting working groups for military facility management is conducted.

  • Neighborhood park has the multiple functions toward quantitative and qualitative improvement of quality of citizen's life. This study is about neighborhood park in 4 Local Industry Complex of Cheonan City. Through this study has intended to analyze the status of use and the importance level of facilities. To reach this goal, this study has analyzed the general information, use and importance level of users through such statistical methods as frequency analysis, regression analysis and reliability analysis. As a result, users has the speciality in the neighborhood park in industry complex. Break area or facilities for the workers should be installed. Not end once installed, but continually improved and more efficient management of park facilities will be made. Also, importance of facilities analysis has the higher in normal or importance. Management and cleanliness is especially higher in importance. Importance for the overall facility was affecting in order the facility design, management, safety, installation number.

  • To design common facilities that support residents' leisure activities is one of the comtemporary issues in Korea. People became interested in the leisure facilities in near-home environments. This trend encouraged this research study. The objectives of this study are: to analyze the current status and characteristics of leisure facilities in apartment communities, to examine the correlations among leisure facilities, and to suggest design considerations for Korean multi-family housing communities. Subject communities are located in the five metropolitan areas in the United States. The 460 apartment communities were randomly selected after a thorough review of a website for apartment finders. Among them, the 126 communities were selected for the analysis. Primary findings are as follows: (1) A total of 30 facilities were identified as the creational facilities in apartment properties. (2) Some leisure facilities were correlated with the other facilities, based on the Pearson's correlation analysis.(3) In addition to the facilities, some apartment communities provide leisure programs for their residents. These results suggest that architectural interventions and maintenance services as well should be considered in order to lead diverse leisure activities for residents.

  • Usually, it is possible for human administrator to control the facilities manually or automatically using sensors in order to manage the fixed electricity facilities. However, it is difficult to collect the status data of those facilities in the central management system. In this paper, we propose the electricity facility management system to collect the status of facilities using the Zigbee networks. the proposed system exploits the various types of sensors, such as motion, heat, optical, etc, to measure the states of the facilities.
