  • This paper describes an outline of the sampling design for crop area survey and product survey in Korea. The design attempts to from a double statification, to obtain an efficient allocation of the sample and to reduce the sampling error by establishign crop concentrated strata. The optimum numbers of sample field and sample plot are investigated. The design is made it possible to reduce the sampling errors as well as to reduce the sample size further than the present survey.

  • We suggest a summary of sample design for the statistical survey of E-commerce to estimate the general trend as well as the market size and investment scale of e-commerce based on the Census on Basic Characteristic of Establishments(CBCE). The sample design of this survey is composed of systematic sampling and modified cut-off method.

  • The Korean Anthropometric Survey (Size Korea) is a sample survey which estimates on percentiles of several dimensional measurements of the human body and its component parts. The purpose of this study is to design a sample, which is designed on the base of 1997 survey database. Two different methods are considered to get the sample size for estimating the 5th and 95th percentile of body dimensions of Korean age range 0-80 years.

  • In this paper, a sample design is studied for 2000 forestry management survey of five types forestry , tree felling, gathering of pine mushroom, growing of nut trees, growing of wild flowers, and lumbering industry. We introduce population stratification and a modified stratified cut-off sampling which deal with determination of sample size, sample allocation, and estimation of total and variance of estimator. Substitution of sample units and imputation of nonresponse units are discussed for reducing the nonsampling errors.

  • When a social scientist prepares to conduct a survey, he/she faces the problem of deciding an appropriate sample size. Sample size is closely connected with cost, time, and the precision of the sample estimate. It is thus important to choose a size appropriate for the survey, but this may be difficult for survey researchers not skilled in a sampling theory. In this study we propose a method to determine a sample size under certain assumptions when the quantity of interest is measured by a Likert scale.

  • This paper aimed at studying an efficient sampling design of the survey for non-consignment fishery products including both marine fisheries and seaculture. An analysis was done on the relationship between precision and sample size. On the basis of the analysis, the sample size was determined to be 1,080 fishery house holds with the expected precision of 4%-5%. The molluscs and seaculture were recognized to be correlated with the non-consignment products. An attempt was made to investigate the coverage of the fish kinds by the sample about 100 fish kinds were found in the 80 selected sample villages, whereas the population includes about 120 in total. This shows that the sample represents the population with satisfaction.

  • Main monthly household surveys conducted by National Statistical Office are economically active population survey and household expenditure survey. Samples of these two surveys are redesigned every 5 years based on Census. This paper is about sample redesign of household survey conducted in 2002 based on 2000 Census.

  • In this paper, wer propose many problems by analyzing the various currently statistics, propose the basic principal for the more precise performance of sample survey, and at the same time propose the method(principal) for detecting and manipulationg the source of error. Finally, we are to improving the statistical reliability and increasing the user's convenience by standardizing the statistical reporting form.

  • The agricultural machine estimated sales survey is a survey to estimate annual sales quantities of eight major agricultural machines such as tracter, combine, etc. The purpose of this study is to design a multipurpose sample for the agricultural machine estimated sales survey. Main achievements of this study are to present an efficient stratification criterion and to suggest a reasonable estimation method by using the concept of post-stratification.

  • In the analysis of categorical data subject to misclassification errors, the observed cell proportions are adjusted by a misclassification probabilities and estimates of variances are adjusted accordingly. In this case, it is important to determine the extent to which misclassification probabilities are homogeneous within a population. This paper considers methods to evaluate the power of chi-squared tests for homogeneity with complex survey data subject to misclassification errors. Two cases are considered: adjustment with homogeneous misclassification probabilities; adjustment with heterogeneous misclassification probabilities. To estimate misclassification probabilities, logistic regression method is considered.
