  • This study analyzes the production process of eight domestic companies that manufacture scuba diving suits for men with an emphasis on the level of consumer satisfaction in scuba diving suits purchases. One hundred fifty questionnaires were distributed and a total of 140 usable data were coded for further statistical analysis that includes descriptive statistics (frequency and ${\chi}^2$ test) through SPSSWIN 17.0. The results show that a majority of the domestic scuba diving suit companies were either small, manufactured products under original equipment manufacturer (OEM) brands, or were involved in the import business. Many of these companies have developed a local sizing system derived from a company database of customer sizing. As a result, different companies have different sizes that lead to confusion and complication among consumers in selecting the correct size for scuba diving suits. The results indicate that most high-priced diving suits are made of imported fabrics because they had superior quality, fitness, and thickness compared to domestic brands. The degree of consumer satisfaction with scuba diving suits was found to be low in comfort, stuffiness, and activity. Respondents indicated that they felt a little tightness in circumstances such as bust, wrist, and thigh in measurements of circumstances. On the other hand, the respondents showed a high degree of satisfaction with body fitness in scuba diving suits. Further research will clarify a standardized sizing system and develop patterns suitable for Korean men's scuba diving suit body sizes.

  • A 17-run Box-Behnken design was used to optimize the synthesis conditions of a monolithic sorbent. The effects of the amount of monomer (mL), crosslink (mL) and porogen (mL) were investigated. The experimental data were fitted to a second-order polynomial equation by the multiple regression analysis and examined using statistical methods. The adjusted coefficient of determination ($R^2$) of the model was 0.9915. The probability value (p < 0.0001) demonstrated a high significance for the regression model. A mean amount of polymer as 2120.15 mg was produced under the following optimum synthesis conditions: the optimized volumes of monomer, crosslink and porogen are 0.30, 1.40, and 1.47 mL, respectively. This was in good agreement with the predicted model value.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the changes of the relative impulse of the foot when carrying 5 types of schoolbag during level walking. Methods: Forty-four normal subjects were divided into 5 groups according to the method of carrying a bag: carrying no bag (condition 1), a backpack (condition 2), a shoulder bag (condition 3), a cross bag (condition 4) and a one-hand bag (condition 5). To evaluate the partial relative impulse, 7 areas were measured on the sole of a foot: the hallux, toe, 1st metatarsal head (Met1) and the 2nd & 3rd metatarsal heads (Met2/3), the 4th & 5th metatarsal heads (Met4/5), mid foot and heel. Repeated one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and independent t-tests were used to analyze the statistical data. Results: In the right foot, the relative impulses in every areas revealed no significant difference (p>0.05), however, the relative impulses at Met1, Met2/3, Met4/5 and heel were significantly different between the different conditions (p<0.05). There were significant differences on comparing the relative impulse between left and right foot within one condition, the mid foot in condition 2, as well as the hallux and Met1 in condition 3 (p<0.05). In condition 4, the toe, Met1, Met4/5 and mid foot were significantly different (p<0.05). The values at the hallux, toe and Met1 in condition 5 also were significantly different (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings showed that the symmetrical relative impulse of the foot was present in the case of carrying a backpack, but there was an extra load on specific regions and asymmetrical relative impulses in the case of carrying a shoulder bag, a across bag and a one-hand bag. • Toxicogenomics using microarray technology offers the ability to conduct large-scale detections and quantifications of mRNA transcripts, particularly those associated with alterations in mRNA stability or gene regulation. In this study, we developed the HazChem Human Array V2 using the Agilent Sure-Print technology-based custom array, which is expected to facilitate the identification of environmental toxicants. The array was manufactured using 600 VOCs and PAHs-specific genes identified in previous studies. In order to evaluate the viability of the manufactured HazChem human array V2, we analyzed the gene expression profiles of 9 environmental toxicants (6 VOCs chemicals and 3 PAHs chemicals). As a result, nine toxicants were separated into two chemical types-VOCs and PAHs. After the chip validations with VOCs and PAHs, we conducted an expression profiling comparison of additional chemical groups (POPs and EDCs) using data analysis methods such as hierarchical clustering, 1-way ANOVA, SAM, and PCA. We selected 58 genes that could be classified into four chemical types via statistical methods. Additionally, we selected 63 genes that evidenced significant alterations in expression with all 13 environmental toxicants. These results suggest that the HazChem Human Array V2 will expedite the development of a screening system for environmentally hazardous materials at the level of toxicogenomics in the future.

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was compare quadriceps femoris muscle activity while performing wall slide squats of four methods. METHODS: Forty subjects, with no history of patellofemoral pain, quadriceps injury, or other knee injury volunteered for this study. Muscle activation of the vastus medialis obliquus, rectus femoris, vastus lateralis muscles were recorded while subjects performed 10 consecutive wall slide squats. Subjects performed the wall slide squats during four different methods: (1) basic wall slide squat, (2) keep back upright against fitness ball, (3) standing of unstable surface, (4) squeezing ball between both knees. Statistical analysis were accomplished by utilizing the one-way ANOVA(Bonferroni's post-hoc test) by SPSS 20.0 program. Significance level was set at p<.05. RESULTS: Muscle activations induced wall slide squats of four methods compared and results showed that there was significant difference only in vastus medialis obliquus and rectus femoris but there was no significant difference in vastus lateralis. The vastus medialis obliquus was significantly different only keep back upright against fitness ball at post-hoc test. The rectus femoris was significantly different keep back upright against fitness ball and standing of unstable surface at post-hoc test. CONCLUSION: Based on these results, we conclude that quadriceps femoris muscle activations are differenced by performing wall slide squats of four different methods in healthy subjects. These data suggest that for quadriceps muscle strengthening, exercise professionals can perform the wall slide squats by altering several task variables. Further research is needed to determine the exact mechanism by which quadriceps function is altered.

  • We suggested an adjusted OPS and weighted adjusted OPS as indices to explain run productivity of teams using the slugging average and adjusted OBP from Korean professional baseball. First, we defined adjusted OBP by modifying currently used OBP. Next, we defined adjusted OPS as the sum of adjusted OBP and slugging average. We also defined weighted adjusted OPS as the weighted average of adjusted OBP and slugging average. Analysis of the data from all games in the regular seasons from 1982~2013 shows that adjusted OPS better explains runs than OPS. For 25 seasons out of 32 seasons, adjusted OPS explains runs better than OPS. Further, weighted adjusted OPS consisting of adjusted OBP (with weight 60%) and slugging average (with weight 40%) gives the best explanation of run productivity. Weighted adjusted OPS has been found to explain run productivity better than weighted OPS proposed in Kim (2012).

  • An autoregressive model with normal errors is a natural model that attempts to fit time series data. More flexible models that include normal distribution as a special case are necessary because they can cover normality to non-normality models. The skewed exponential power distribution is a possible candidate for autoregressive models errors that may have tails lighter(platykurtic) or heavier(leptokurtic) than normal and skewness; in addition, the use of skewed exponential power distribution can reduce the influence of outliers and consequently increases the robustness of the analysis. We use SIR algorithm and grid method for an efficient Bayesian estimation.

  • Well-known Bayes and empirical Bayes estimators have a disadvantage in respecting to overshink the parameter estimator error; therefore, a constrained Bayes estimator is suggested by matching the first two moments. Also traditional loss function such as mean square error loss function only considers the precision of estimation and to consider both precision and goodness of fit, balanced loss function is suggested. With these reasons, constrained Bayes estimators under balanced loss function is recommended for non-life insurance pricing.; however, most studies focus on the performance of estimation since Bayes risk of newly suggested estimators such as constrained Bayes and constrained empirical Bayes estimators under specific loss function is difficult to derive. This study compares the Bayes risk of several Bayes estimators under two different loss functions for estimating the risk in the auto insurance business and indicates the effectiveness of the newly suggested Bayes estimators with regards to Bayes risk perspective through auto insurance real data analysis.
