  • Geometric approach to extend the classical two-set theory of canonical correlation analysis to three or more sets is considered. It provides statistical graphs to represent the data in a low dimensional space. Procedures are developed for computing the canonical variables and the corresponding properties are investigated. The solution is equivalent to that of the usual problem in the case of two sets. Goodness-of-fit of the proposed plots is studied and a numerical example is included.

  • Crossover design is officially except for special occasions recommended by KFDA and FDA for assessing Bioequivalence between two drugs one for reference and the other for innovator. Such design is regarded as a special case of latin square split-polt or repeated measurement design and its main difference with other designing methods is that each subject in an experiment is exposed two drugs in sequence. Therefore general statistical analysis is not suitable since the model for this experiment includes carryover effect in addition to period and sequence effect. in this paper analysis for crossover model with two drugs and its interpretation are mainly discussed and an example is given for illustration.

  • This paper deals with the statistical analysis of an autocalibration procedure for the gain and phase imbalances between the in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) components in quadrature receivers. In real implementation, the imbalances of the gain and phase exist and degrade the performance of the receiver. In this paper we investigate the statistical characteristic of the estimates in an on-line imbalance estimation method for the receiver under the assumption of an additive white Gaussian noise environment.

  • An extended version of the minimax eccentricity factor estimation for multiple set case is proposed. In addition, two more simple methods for multiple set factor analysis exploiting the concept of generalized canonical correlation analysis is suggested. Finally, a certain connection between the generalized canonical correlation analysis and the multiple set factor analysis is derived which helps us clarify the relationship.

  • Results of using principal component analysis prior to cluster analysis are compared with results from applying agglomerative clustering algorithm alone. The retrieval ability of the agglomerative clustering algorithm is improved by using principal components prior to cluster analysis in some situations. On the other hand, the loss in retrieval ability for the agglomerative clustering algorithms decreases, as the number of informative variables increases, where the informative variables are the variables that have distinct information(or, necessary information) compared to other variables.

  • Some multivariate analyses provide configurations for variables or objects in low dimensional space because we can see easily their relation. In particular, in simple correspondence analysis(SCA), we can obtain the various configurations which are called SCA Maps based on the algebraic algorithms. Moreover, it often occur the variability among them. Therefore, in this study, we will give a comparison of variability of SCA maps using the procrustes analysis which is a technique of comparing configurations in multidimensional scaling.

  • Purpose: This study investigated the statistical methods and the results had reported correlation/regression analysis in the studies of Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing (KJWHN). Methods: We reviewed 45 studies using correlation/regression analysis for the suitability of the statistical methods and the research purposes, the criteria for analysis of figures, tables and charts had published in the KJWHN from vol 13 (1) in 2007 to vol 15 (4) in 2009. Results: Forty three studies were fitted to their statistical methodology and their research purposes. Eleven studies considered the minimum sample size. Fourteen regression studies used multiple regression and 12 studies used forward method for variable entry. Only one study among the 17 regression studies accomplished scatter plots and residuals examination. Sixteen studies in correlation studies and six studies in regression studies showed some errors in either the title, variables, category of figures, tables and charts. In the regression study, all reported $R^2$ and ${\beta}$ values except one. Conclusion: It was found that there were still statistical errors or articulation errors in the statistical analysis. All reviewers need to be reviewed more closely for detecting errors not only during reviewing process of the manuscript but also periodic publication for the quality of this academic journal.

  • OSHA(Occupational Safety and Health Act) generally regulates employer's business principles in the workplace to maintain safety environment. This act has the fundamental purpose to protect employee's safety and health in the workplace by reducing industrial accidents. Authors tried to investigate the correlation between 'occupational injuries and illnesses' and level of regulation compliance using Survey on Current Status of Occupational Safety & Health data by the various statistical methods, such as generalized regression analysis, logistic regression analysis and poison regression analysis in order to compare the results of those methods. The results have shown that the significant affecting compliance factors were different among those statistical methods. This means that specific interpretation should be considered based on each statistical method. In the future, relevant statistical technique will be developed considering the distribution type of occupational injuries.

  • In this study, statistical analysis of fatigue data which had obtained from respective 24 fatigue crack, was examined for SiC whisker reinforced aluminium 6061 composite alloy (SiC$_{w}$/A16061) and aluminium 6061 alloy. SiC volume fraction in composite alloy is 25%. The analysis results stress intensity factor range and 0.1 mm fatigue crack initiation life for SiC$_{w}$/A16061 composite & A16061 matrix are the log-normal distribution. And regression analysis by linear model, exponential model and multiplicative model were performed to find out the relationship between fatigue crack growth rate(da/dN) and stress intensity for find out the relationship between fatigue crack growth rate(da/dN) and stress intensity factor range(.DELTA.K) in the SiC$_{w}$/A16061 composite and examine the applicability of Paris' equation to SiC$_{w}$A16061 composite. Also computer simulation was performed for fatigue life prediction of SiC$_{w}$/A16061 composite using the statistical results of this study.udy.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the techniques or analyzing tobacco smoke by statistical treatment method for the analytical data through Asia Collaborative Study V. In addition to five smoke components analysis, consisting of TPM, water, nicotine, NFDPM, and puff count of four cigarettes samples, statistical parameters such as mean, standard deviation, box-and-whisker plots, h plots, k plots, regression coefficients, reproducibility (R), and repeatability (r) were also calculated. Analysis of water content of cigarette smoke was the most difficult task, whereas puff count analysis was the easiest as well recognized by all laboratories. Analysis of nicotine and puff count accounted for both the lowest and the highest variation among four parameters. The water coefficients indicated more randomness or variation in the slops. The NFDPM data exhibited both types of deviations from linearity. Water content of sample D indicated the highest difference between two single results and between two interlaboratory test results. As a whole, KGTRI ranked higher in the analytical techniques for statistical evaluation of results when compared with the practices of 28 other laboratories.
