  • The environment of web service has changed a great deal due to the progress of internet technology and positive participation of users. The established web service is static and passive, but the recent web service is becoming dynamic and active. Web 2.0 reflects current web service change well. The primary feature of web 2.0 is positive participation of users. Since the size of generated information is becoming larger, it is highly required to share the information fast and correctly. The technology to satisfy this need is web syndication and tagging in web 2.0. The web syndication makes feeds for another site or users to receive the content of web site. In addition, the tagging is the kernel of a information. Many internet users share rapidly the information through tag search. In this paper, we propose the efficient technique to improve the web 2.0 technology such as web syndication and tagging by using the data collection engine. Data collection engine has stored in a database, a user's Web site to use the information. and it has a user's Web site with access to updated data to collect. The experimental results show that our approach can improve the search speed up to 3.14 times better than the existing method and reduce the size of data up to 66% for building associated tags.

  • The kind of concrete generally used in steel concrete composite bridges is normal-weight concrete whose unit weight is ${2,300kg/m^{3}}$. However, using lightweight concrete in composite bridges diminishes the sectional forces due to the self-weight of concrete decks. As a result, this will make the bridge design more economical. The type of concrete deck that could be adopted in composite bridges using lightweight con crete may be classified into Cast-In-Place (C.I.P.) concrete deck and precast concrete deck. These two types of decks have some differences with respect to structural behavior and constructional method, and hence, structural behavior of stud shear connectors that connect a concrete deck to a steel girder is changed with the type of deck used. In this study, push-out tests were conducted to evaluate the characteristics of static behavior of the stud shear connectors with a precast deck using lightweight concrete. Also, additional precast deck specimens with bedding layer that had shear keys and devices for transverse confinement of the bedding layer for the prevention of cracks occurring in the bedding layer were tested. These cracks The efficiency of these devices was then evaluated.

  • The moisture sorption isotherms of corn powder prepared from corn kernels roasted for 20 min at 160, 180, 200, 220, and $240^{\circ}C$ were determined at $20^{\circ}C$ using the static gravimetric method over the range of water activities ($a_w$) of 0.11~0.90. The moisture sorption isotherms showed a typical sigmoid shape, and the equilibrium moisture content tended to increase with increasing $a_w$, and increased sharply at above 0.75 $a_w$. At above 0.53 $a_w$, the equilibrium moisture content of the roasted corn powder increased with the increase in the roasting temperature. Six mathematical models (Bradley, Caurie, Halsey, Henderson, Kuhn, and Oswin) were used to fit the experimental data. The Oswin, Caurie, Henderson, and Halsey models were found to have suitability for describing the sorption curves, and the Oswin model was the best fit model for all the roasting temperatures. Concerning the monolayer moisture content, the Guggenheim-Anderson-Boer (GAB) equation showed high significance. The monolayer moisture content increased as the roasting temperature was increased, to 0.043 and 0.053 kg $H_2O/kg$ solids in the corn powder roasted at $180^{\circ}C$ and $240^{\circ}C$, respectively. These results suggest that the roasting temperatures of the corn kernels affected the moisture sorption characteristics ($20^{\circ}C$) of the corn powder.

  • Effects of final annealing temperature on the precipitate and oxidation were investigated for the Zr-lNb and Zr-lNb-lSn-0.3Fe alloys. The microstructure and oxidation of both alloys were evaluated for the optimization of final annealing process of these alloys in the annealing temperature regime of 450 to $800^{\circ}C$. The corrosion test was performed under steam at $400^{\circ}C$ for 270 days in a static autoclave. The oxide formed was identified by low angle X-ray diffraction method. The $\beta$-Zr was observed at annealing temperature above $600^{\circ}C$. Above $600^{\circ}C$, the precipitate area volume fraction of Zr-lNb and Zr-1Nb-lSn-0.3Fe alloys appeared to be increased with increasing the final annealing temperature. The corrosion resistance of Zr-lNb was higher than that of Zr- lNb-lSn-0.3Fe alloy. The corrosion rate of both alloys were accelerated due to the formation and growth of $\beta$-Zr with increasing the annealing temperature.

  • In this study, new engineered woods, which can be used as structural members, are developed using three different mechanical jointing methods with large elements produced from logs in a high yield. Flitches of relatively large cross-section are produced from small or medium diameter logs, and are joined with steel bolts, wood dowesl and steel lag bolts. Static bending tests are performed for these three types of built-up beams. Built-up beams joined with steel bolts show $514kgf/cm^2$ for MOR and $129,000kgf/cm^2$ for MOE, which are close to those of typical structural glulams. In case that wood dowels and steel lag bolts are used, elements are isolated as load increases and resists the applied load individually. Therefore, built-up beams joined with wood dowels or steel lag bolts show almost half of steel bolts for both MOE and MOR. From the results of this study, it was indicated that bending properties of engineered woods manufactured using mechanical jointing methods with large elements are influenced mainly by jointing performance between each elements.

  • Adsorption experiments for $H_2$, $CH_4$, CO, $CO_2$ on activated carbon and zeolite 5A were performed by static volumetric method. A 4-bed pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process was to study separation of hydrogen from multi-component mixture gases ($H_2$ 72.2%, $CH_4$ 4.06%, CO 2.03%, $CO_2$ 21.6%). Dual-site langmuir (DSL) isotherm showed good or fair agreement with the experimental results. The optimum height of activated carbon layer was 55 cm with breakthrough results on the packing ratio of activated carbon to zeolite 5A. In PSA process, the effects of the process parameters such as total cycle time ($T_c$), ${\Delta}P$ at the provide purge step and adsorption pressure on the PSA performance were studied experimentally and theoretically.

  • The objective of this research is to provide better knowledge on the behavior of strong axis SRC column-RC beam joint, supported by experimental results, that can be broadly applicable to many structures. For this purpose, firstly literature reviews and field survey were made to classify the most commonly used for these types of joints. Then, experimental program was designed and performed including 6 SRC column-RC beam joint specimens designed with various joint details. Using the experimental results obtained from the quasi-static cyclic tests, structural performances of the joints such as hysteretic curves, maximum strength capacities, strength degradation beyond the maximum strength, ductilities, and energy dissipation capacities were investigated. Test results showed that specimens with wide beam shape (RCW-P, RCW-W, RCW-F) and T beam shape (RCT-W) showed better structural performances than the bracket type specimens (HBR-L, HBR-S). These specimens also revealed to have higher strength capacities than the nominal design strength. However, H beam bracket type specimens (HBR-L, HBR-S) need further study both analytically and experimentally to verify the reason for unexpected structural performances.

  • Concrete materials subjected to impact by high velocity projectiles exhibit responses that differ from those when they are under static loading. Projectiles generate localized effects characterized by penetration of front, spalling of rear and perforation as well as more widespread crack propagation. The magnitude of damage depends on a variety of factors such as material properties of the projectile, impact velocity, the mass and geometry as well as the material properties of concrete specimen size and thickness, reinforcement materials type and method of the concrete target. In this study, penetration depth of front, spalling thickness of rear and effect of spalling suppression of concrete by fiber reinforcement was evaluated according to compressive strength of concrete. As a result, it was similar to results of the modified NDRC formula and US ACE formula that the more compressive strength is increased, the penetration depth of front is suppressed. On the other hand, the increase in compressive strength of concrete does not affect spalling of rear suppression. Spalling of rear is controlled by the increase of flexural, tensile strength and deformation capacity.

  • The purpose of this study was to identity scientific models included in the Earth domain of the $10^{th}$ grade science textbooks. Three earth science-related chapters in each of 11 trade books were analyzed. A framework was developed and used to classify a scientific model from three different perspectives: medium of representation, method of representation, and mobility of a model. Results showed that the science textbooks utilized domain-specific models in which the nature of sub-areas of earth science was embedded. That is, the unit of 'Change of the Earth' included many iconic models that represented the inaccessible inner structure of the earth and the movement of the tectonic plates. These were also two-dimensional pictorial and static models. In the chapter of 'Atmosphere and Oceans', symbolic and diagrammatic models were dominant in use, which included weather maps and contour line graphs of sea surface temperature and salinity. The unit of 'Solar System and Galaxies' showed the highly frequent use of iconic and analogical models for the large-scale celestial objects and their movements. Implications for earth science education and relevant research were discussed.

  • The heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC) system is a very important part of an automotive vehicle: it controls the microclimate inside the passenger's compartment and removes the frost or mist that is produced in cold/rainy weather. In this study, the numerical analysis of the defrost duct in an HVAC system and the de-icing pattern is carried out using commercial CFX-code. The mass flow distribution and flow structure at the outlet of the defrost duct satisfied the duct design specification. For analyzing the de-icing pattern, additional grid generation of solid domain of ice and glass is pre-defined for conductive heat transfer. The flow structure near the windshield, streakline, and temperature fields clearly indicate that the de-icing capacity of the given defrost duct configuration is excellent and that it can be operated in a stable manner. In this paper, the unsteady changes in temperature, water volume fraction, and static enthalpy at four monitoring points are discussed.
