Application of three-dimensional modified inclined braces to control soft-story buildings

  • Despite its disadvantages, soft story can reduce the damage to the upper floors by concentrating drift in that specific story provided that large drifts are avoided. Gapped-Inclined Brace (GIB) with reduced P-delta effects and the control of soft story stiffness makes it possible to take advantage of the soft story in buildings and increase their capacity for energy dissipation. OpenSees software is used in this study to validate and modify the GIB model's shortcomings. Also, the analysis method for this element is changed for design. The modified element is evaluated in 3D analysis. Finally, to retrofit an existing building, this element is used. Based on the Iranian seismic code, a six-story reinforced concrete building is modelled and studied with 3D analysis. In this building, the construction shortcomings and elimination of infills on the ground floor cause the formation of a soft story. Results of nonlinear static analysis, nonlinear dynamic, and incremental dynamic analysis using both components of seismic acceleration applied to the structure at different angles and the fragility curves indicate the improvement of the retrofitted structure's performance using the modified element to reach the required performance level following the retrofit code.

  • Race Condition은 둘 이상의 프로세스가 하나의 공통 자원에 대해 입력이나 조작이 동시에 일어나 의도치 않은 결과를 가져오는 취약점이다. 해당 취약점은 서비스 거부 또는 권한 상승과 같은 문제를 초래할 수 있다. 소프트웨어에서 취약점이 발생하면 관련된 정보를 문서화하지만 종종 취약점의 발생 원인을 밝히지 않거나 소스코드를 공개하지 않는 경우가 있다. 이런 경우, 취약점을 탐지하기 위해서는 바이너리 레벨에서의 분석이 필요하다. 본 논문은 UNIX 커널기반 File System의 Time-Of-Check Time-Of-Use (TOCTOU) Race Condition 취약점을 바이너리 레벨에서 탐지하는 것을 목표로 한다. 지금까지 해당 취약점에 대해 정적/동적 분석 기법의 다양한 탐지 기법이 연구되었다. 기존의 정적 분석을 이용한 취약점 탐지 도구는 소스코드의 분석을 통해 탐지하며, 바이너리 레벨에서 수행한 연구는 현재 거의 전무하다. 본 논문은 바이너리 정적 분석 도구인 Binary Analysis Platform (BAP)를 통해 Control Flow Graph, Call Graph 기반의 File System의 TOCTOU Race Condition 탐지 방법을 제안한다.

It is very important that a slider should have a good dynamic behavior.   • This paper is a study on the word recognition using neural network. A limited vocabulary, speaker independent, isolated word recognition system has been built. This system recognizes isolated word without performing segmentation, phoneme identification, or dynamic time wrapping. It needs a static pattern approach to recognize a spatio-temporal pattern. The preprocessing only includes preceding and tailing silence removal, and word length determination. A LPC analysis is performed on each of 24 equally spaced frames. The PARCOR coefficients plus 3 other features from each frame is extracted. In order to simplify a structure of neural network, we composed binary code form to decrease output nodes.

시간 선택적 페이딩 환경에서 CIOD 시공간 블록 부호의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis for The Coordinate Interleaved Orthogonal Design of Space Time Block Code in The Time Selective Fading Channel)

  • 본 논문에서는 4개의 전송 안테나 시스템에서 좌표축 인터리빙된 직교 신호로 디자인(Coordinate interleaved orthogonal design: CIOD)된 시 공간 블록 부호(Space time block code: STBC)가 시간 선택적 페이딩 채널인 1차 Markov 채널을 통과하였을 때에 성능 분석을 다룬다. 채널이 준 정지 페이딩 채널(Quasi-static fading channel)일 경우 STBC-CIOD는 최대 전송률과 최대 다이버시티(Full rate full diversity: FRFD)를 만족하고, 단일 심볼 복호가 가능한(single symbol decodable: SSD) 코드이나, 시간 선택적 페이딩 환경에서는 신호간의 간섭이 생기므로 FRFD을 만족시키더라도 단일 심볼 복호를 수행하였을 때 간섭에 의한 성능 열화가 생길 것이다. 심볼 오류율(Symbol error rate: SER)의 Union bound를 신호 쌍 오류 확률(pairwise error probability)을 유도하여 구한다. 그리고 4-ary PSK 신호에 대한 모의실험을 통하여 유도된 심볼 오류율을 구하고 이를 수식으로 구한 심볼 오류율의 union bound 와 비교한다.

  • The numerical simulation is performed for the acoustic emission and the wave propagation due to fiber breakage in single fiber composite plates by the finite element transient analysis. The acoustic emission and the following wave motions from a fiber breakage under a static loading is simulated to investigate the applicability of the explicit finite element method and the equivalent volume force model as a simulation tool of wave propagation and a modeling technique of an acoustic emission. For such a simple case of the damage event under static loading, various parameters affecting the wave motion are investigated for reliable simulations of the impact damage event. The high velocity and the small wave length of the acoustic emission require a refined analysis with dense distribution of the finite element and a small time step. In order to fulfill the requirement for capturing the exact wave propagation and to cover the 3-D simulation, we utilize the parallel FE transient analysis code and the parallel computing technology.

드로우비드 형상에 따른 박판 성형공정에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (The Effect of the Drawbead Shape on the Sheet Metal Forming Process)

  • In the sheet metal forming process, the drawbead is used to control the flow of material during the forming process. The drawbead provides proper restraining force to the material and prevents defe cts such as wrinkling or breakage. For these reasons, many studies for designing the effective drawbead have been conducted. In this paper, the effect of the drawbead shape will be introduced. For the analysis, the numerical method called the static-explicit finite element method was used. The finite element analysis code for this method has been developed and applied to the drawbead process problems. In result, convergence problem and computation time due to large non-linearity in the existing numerical analysis methods were no longer a critical problem. Futhermore, this approach could treat the contact friction problem easily by applying very small time intervals. It is expected that various results from the numerical analysis will give very useful information for the design of tools in sheet metal forming process.

Dynamic responses of an FPSO moored on sloped seabed under the action of environmental loads

  • The inclination of seabed profile (sloped seabed) is one of the known topographic features which can be observed at different seabed level in the large offshore basin. A mooring system connected between the platform and global seabed is an integral part of the floating structure which tries to keep the floating platform settled in its own position against hostile sea environment. This paper deals with an investigation of the motion responses of an FPSO platform moored on the sloped seabed under the combined action of wave, wind and current loads. A three-dimensional panel discretization method has been used to model the floating body. To introduce the connection of multi-segmented non-linear elastic catenary mooring cables with the sloped seabed, a quasi-static composite catenary model is employed. The model and analysis have been completed by using hydrodynamic diffraction code AQWA. Validation of the numerical model has been successfully carried out with an experimental work published in the latest literature. The analysis procedure in this study has been followed time domain analysis. The study involves an objective oriented investigation on platform motions, in order to identify the effects of the slopped seabed, the action of the wave, wind and current loads and the presence of riser system. In the end, an effective analysis has been performed to identify a stable mooring model in demand of reducing structural responses of the FPSO.

  • 버퍼 오버플로우 취약점을 검출하는 정적 분석 도구에서, 분석 문맥을 조절하는 방법을 통해, 동일한 원인에 의해 발생하는 중복 경보 메시지를 제거하는 방법을 제안한다. 동일한 원인에 의해 다수의 경보 메시지가 출력되는 경우, 첫 경보 메시지만 살며보아도 나머지 경보 메시지들에 대한 판단을 내릴 수 있으므로, 사용자에게 첫 경보 메시지만을 보여주는 것이 보다 바람직하다. 제안하는 분석 문맥 조절 기법은 기존의 정적 분석 도구에 쉽게 적용할 수 있고, 오픈 소스 소프트웨어를 사용한 실험에서 평균 23%의 경보 메시지를 제거할 수 있었다.

A study on the seismic behavior of Reinforced Concrete (RC) wall piers strengthened with CFRP sheets: A pushover analysis approach

  • The use of reinforced concrete (RC) shear walls (SW) as an efficient lateral load-carrying system has gained recent attention. However, creating openings in RC shear walls is unavoidable due to architectural requirements. This reduces the walls' strength and stiffness, resulting in the development of wall piers. In this study, the cyclic behavior of RC shear walls with openings, reinforced with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets in various patterns, was numerically investigated. Finite element analysis (FEA) using ABAQUS software was employed. Additionally, the retrofitting of sub-standard buildings (5, 10, and 15-story structures) designed based on the old and new versions of the Iranian Code of Practice for Seismic-Resistant Structures was evaluated. Nonlinear static analyses, specifically pushover analyses, were conducted on the structures. The best pattern of CFRP wrapping was determined and utilized for retrofitting the sub-standard structures. Various structural parameters, such as load-carrying capacity, ductility, stress contours, and tension damage contours, were compared to assess the efficiency of the retrofit solution. The results indicated that the load-carrying capacity of the sub-standard structures was lower than that of standard ones by 57%, 69%, and 67% for 5, 10, and 15-story buildings, respectively. However, the retrofit solution utilizing CFRP showed promising results, enhancing the capacity by 10-25%. The retrofitted structures demonstrated increased yield strength, ultimate strength, and ductility through CFRP wrapping and effectively prevented wall slipping.
