The position fixing usually is determined by triangulation, traverse surveying and astronomy surveying. However, when the station is moving, it is impossible to determine its position continuously by the former method. By a satellite positioning method(GPS), this problem can be solved. In our study, we used two methods to determine the length and coordinate of a point position. One is a kinematic GPS method and the other is a static one. Each is based on carrier phase measurement and employs a relative position technique. We implemented observation experiments such as Geodimeter and DGPS(Differential GPS) successfully. To estimate the accuracy between the kinematic and static methods, we compared the results of Geodimeter, the kinematic, and the static. The results showed that the static is relatively a little more accurate than the kinematic. However, in the kinematic mode, when we received the GPS data for a long time, we found that the kinematic also had a high accuracy value for the length survey Finally, we applied the GPS to Jeju Harbor Breakwater to examine the applicability of GPS for coastal ocean structure based on the kinematics and the statics, respectively.
In order to investigate duration of session in static GPS method, data from a network of 7 points, with baseline length of from 64 km to 358 km, were processed. The network were observed by Trimble 4000SSE and Trimble 4000SSi with duration of 24 hours. Data extracted from this session were processed as if they were measured in 3, 6, 9 ... 21, and 24 hours session. The results (Baselines, Sloop Closures, Coordinates, and Standard errors of coordinates) of these sessions were compared to 24 hours one. Some conclusions were made, which seem to be useful in selection of duration for the same dimension GPS network for different purposes.

Accurate observation results of dynamic displacements are essential to the protection of civil structures. In this study, we evaluated the optimal methods of the RTK/GPS Accelerometer integration through comparison and analysis of several experiments results. Two methods will be used to calculate the dynamic displacements from the results of the acceleration data as well as two integration methods for measuring the dynamic, static, and quasi-static displacements by incorporating the displacement results from the RTK-GPS and Accelerometer. By using a Cantilever Beam and LVDT measurement, we were able to ensure that the different displacement comparisons would be reliable and accurate. As a results from experiments, the accelerometer processing method applied by use of accelerometers data was filtering with the double integral using FIR band-pass filter which is most optimal for assessing the dynamic displacements. Also, the integrated method using extracting substitution displacements is suitable for measuring synthetically the dynamic static and quasi-static displacements of civil structures with RTK-GPS and accelerometer.
This paper presents LiDAR static obstacle map based vehicle position correction algorithm for urban autonomous driving. Real Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS is commonly used in highway automated vehicle systems. For urban automated vehicle systems, RTK GPS have some trouble in shaded area. Therefore, this paper represents a method to estimate the position of the host vehicle using AVM camera, front camera, LiDAR and low-cost GPS based on Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). Static obstacle map (STOM) is constructed only with static object based on Bayesian rule. To run the algorithm, HD map and Static obstacle reference map (STORM) must be prepared in advance. STORM is constructed by accumulating and voxelizing the static obstacle map (STOM). The algorithm consists of three main process. The first process is to acquire sensor data from low-cost GPS, AVM camera, front camera, and LiDAR. Second, low-cost GPS data is used to define initial point. Third, AVM camera, front camera, LiDAR point cloud matching to HD map and STORM is conducted using Normal Distribution Transformation (NDT) method. Third, position of the host vehicle position is corrected based on the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF).The proposed algorithm is implemented in the Linux Robot Operating System (ROS) environment and showed better performance than only lane-detection algorithm. It is expected to be more robust and accurate than raw lidar point cloud matching algorithm in autonomous driving.
The network RTK surveying has been widely used in the field of cadastral surveys in recent years, and its use is gradually expanding. As a result of the implementation of GPS static surveys by civilian companies in accordance with the progress of the cadastral surveys and gradual civilian transfer plans and cadastral surveys, there has been an increase in the number of civilian companies performing surveys. In this paper, we describe the process of applying the results of analysis of conformity using the network RTK site calibration function on the local coordinate system to the GPS static surveying of the cadastral reference points in Anyang city. In addition, the measurement results of the network RTK site calibration function and the results of the GPS static surveying network reconciliation in the local coordinate system were compared, and the performance was determined within 0.04m maximum of RMSE(Root Mean Square Error), and further study on the application method is needed.
Effective monitoring, reliable data analysis, and rational data interpretations are challenges for engineers who are specialized in bridge health monitoring. This paper demonstrates how to use the Global Positioning System (GPS) and accelerometer data to accurately extract static and quasi-static displacements of the bridge induced by ambient effects. To eliminate the disadvantages of the two separate units, based on the characteristics of the bias terms derived from the GPS and accelerometer respectively, a wavelet based multi-step filtering method by combining the merits of the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) with the discrete stationary wavelet transform (SWT) is proposed so as to address the GPS deformation monitoring application more efficiently. The field measurements are carried out on an existing suspension bridge under the normal operation without any traffic interference. Experimental results showed that the frequencies and absolute displacements of the bridge can be accurate extracted by the proposed method. The integration of GPS and accelerometer can be used as a reliable tool to characterize the dynamic behavior of large structures such as suspension bridges undergoing environmental loads.

This paper describes the design and realization of full attitude system based on MEMS IMU and GPS carrier phase. The work can be divided into two parts: First, initial heading is determined by using two GPS receivers. And this paper discusses the usage of space geometry conditions to reduce the range of ambiguity search. The method presented in this paper was tested on the static. On the static condition, an accuracy better than 0.06 degrees for heading for 3.48m long baseline has been achieved. Integration of GPS and low cost MEMS IMU are used to realize the real-time heading attitude system. Second, level attitude (pitch and roll) is determined using the method of frequency-velocity for the feedback control. At the same time, the method using the attitude based on MEMS IMU to help determination of the range of ambiguity search is proposed. The results done on the sea show that an alternative means to provide real-time, cost-effective, accurate and reliable attitude information for attitude surveys. Though motivated by a big ships application, the design can be applied to other vehicles.

To measure the GPS position accuracy and its distribution according to the length of the baseline, 30 minutes to 24 hours observations at the fixed location were conducted with two GPS receivers (Ll, 12 channels) on May 29 to June 2, 2002. The GPS data received at the reference station, the rover station and the ordinary times GPS observation station operated by the National Geography Institute in Korea were processed in kinematic and static post-processing methods with a post -processing software. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The number of the satellite that could be observed continuously more than six hours was 16 and most of these satellites were positioned at east-west direction on May 31, 2002. The number of the satellite observed and the geometric dilution of precision (GDOP) determined by the average of every 10 minute for the day were 8 and 3.89, respectively. 2. Both the average GPS positions before and after post-processing were shifted (standalone: 1.17 m, post -processing: 0.43m) to the south and west. The twice distance root mean square (2drms) measured with standalone was 6.65m. The 2drms could be reduced to 33.8% (standard deviation 0=17.2) and 5.3% (0=2.2) of standalone by the kinematic and the static post-processing methods, respectively. 3. The relationship between the length of the baseline x (km) and the 2drms y (m) obtained by the static post-processing method was y=0.00l6x+0.006 $(R^2=0.87)$. In the case of the positioning with the static post-processing method using the GPS receiver, it was found that a positioning within 20cm 2drms was possible when the length of the baseline was less than 100km and the receiving time of the GPS is more than 30 minutes.
The Korea Augmentation Satellite System (KASS) satellite was successfully launched and service is being started. By receiving messages transmitted from the KASS satellite, users can employ the messages to improve positioning accuracy or to verify the integrity of Global Positioning System (GPS). In this paper, we propose a test method for a beam-formed GPS receiver developed to improve the survivability of KASS augmented messages that can enhance positioning accuracy even in an environment with jamming or interfering signals. Through the test method proposed in this paper, quantitative verification is performed for a beam-formed GPS receiver aimed at maintaining the augmented navigation solution to which KASS augmented messages are applied by tracking the KASS signal as much as possible under conditions where the jamming signal strength is gradually increasing. In addition, the proposed test method includes three conditions; first, a static lab test method for repeated verification of functions under the same conditions; second, a static outdoor test method for performance verification in an operating environment of a platform equipped with the beam-formed GPS receiver; and finally, a dynamic lab test method for performance verification of a moving platform equipped with the beam-formed GPS receiver toward a jammer. In this paper, we propose a method for simulating the jamming signal incident direction through the phase delay of an RF cable designed to prevent unintentional jamming signal emission in both lab and outdoor tests, and a method of applying test software for injecting a jamming signal to compare the survivability performance consistently according to the presence or absence of beamforming signal processing. Through the proposed test method, it was verified that the augmented navigation solution could be output for a longer time period when the beamforming signal processing was applied to the KASS satellite signal in the beam-formed GPS receiver.

This study aims to analyze the accuracy of rover speed change in route surveying using RTK-GPS. Route surveying methods using GPS contain Static, DGPS, and RTK-GPS. Much research of navigation system, positioning of vehicles by DGPS, and accuracy analysis by GPS surveying have already been done. From this study, it is firstly found that DGPS is suitable for car navigation and sea navigation with an error of meter scale but not good for detailed construction, designing maps and updating GIS databases. Secondly, RTK-GPS can be used for managing gas pipes, water supply and drain pipes and fiber-optic cable that are needed to be controlled in a real time basis. Thirdly, since the accuracies of route surveying by RTK-GPS and DGPS are not correctly matched with the change of rover speed, the choice of route surveying method from those two should follow the need of accuracy fidelity Further study should focus on Cycle Slip problem and coordinate change problem in tunnel and mountainous areas.
