  • Aiming to solve the problems of high memory access and big storage space and long matching time in the regular expression matching of extended finite automaton (XFA), a new regular expression matching algorithm based on high-efficient finite automaton is presented in this paper. The basic idea of the new algorithm is that some extra judging instruments are added at the starting state in order to reduce any unnecessary transition paths as well as to eliminate any unnecessary state transitions. Consequently, the problems of high memory access consumption and big storage space and long matching time during the regular expression matching process of XFA can be efficiently improved. The simulation results convey that our proposed scheme can lower approximately 40% memory access, save about 45% storage space consumption, and reduce about 12% matching time during the same regular expression matching process compared with XFA, but without degrading the matching quality.

  • In this paper, current status of experimental and theoretical work on quantum bits based on the semiconductor quantum dots in the University of Seoul will be presented. A new proposal utilizing the multi-valley quantum state transitions in a Si quantum dot as a possible candidate for a quantum bit with a long decoherence time will be also given. Qubits are the multi-valley symmetric and anti-symmetric orbitals. Evolution of these orbitals is controlled by an external electric field, which turns on and off the inter-valley interactions. Initialization is achieved by turning on the inter-valley Hamiltonian to let the system settle down to the symmetric orbital state. Estimates of the decoherence time is made for the longitudinal acoustic phonon process.

  • Undoped and Cr-doped samples of electrooptic material KTiOPO$_4$ were studied by $^{31}$P nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Spin-lattice relaxation time ($T_1$) measurements manifested phase transition behaviors that are attributed to changes in the dominant charge carriers in different temperature ranges.

  • Periodic magnetic nanodot arrays were successfully produced on glass substrates by interference laser lithography and electron beam lithography methods. Magnetic force microscopy (MFM) observation was carried out on fabricated nanodot arrays. MFM tip induced magnetization effects were clearly observed in ferromagnetic elliptical nanodots varying in material and aspect ratio. Fe-Cr dots with a high aspect ratio show reversible switching of the single domain magnetization state. At the same time, Co nanomagnets with a low aspect ratio exhibit tip induced transitions between the single domain and the vortex state of magnetization. The simple nanolithography is potentially an efficient method for fabrication of patterned magnetic arrays.

  • We present a hypothetical quantum scattering model to propose a novel electroluminescence device. Adoping with features of solid state semiconductor LED and exciplex laser, the cathode (electrol incoming potential) and anode(electron outgoing potential) are made to correspond to two 1-dimensional resonance supporting potentials, and the light emitting part to an interaction potential in the intermediate region. When an external voltage is applied, the electron flows into the cathode having small work function. Subsequently in flows via LUMO of the " electron incoming potential" loses kinetic energy emitting a photon, then continues to flow via LUMO of the "electron outgoing potential" unlike the conventional LUMO to HOMO transitions occurring in solid state semiconductor LED. In this model, the photon frequency can be controlled by adijusting the applied voltage. The model hopefully could be realized as partially conjugated hydrocarbon chains.

  • High brightness and long persistent luminescence phosphor $CaAl_2O_4:Eu^{2+}$ was prepared with varying $Eu^{2+}$ concentration by solid state reaction technique. Synthesized materials were investigated by powder X-ray diffractometer (XRD), SEM, TEM, photoluminescence excitation and emission spectra. Broad band UV excited luminescence of the $CaAl_2O_4:Eu^{2+}$ was observed in the blue region (${\lambda}_{max}\;=\;440\;nm$) due to transitions from the $4f^65d^1$ to the $4f^7$ configuration of the $Eu^{2+}$ ion. The decay time of the persistence indicated that the persistent luminescence phosphor has bright phosphorescence and maintains a long duration. These materials have great potential for outdoor night time displays.

  • With the rapid development of microgrid technology, microgrid projects are no longer limited to laboratory demonstrations and pilot platforms. It shows greater value in practical applications. Hence, the smooth interaction between a microgrid and the main grid plays a critical role. In this paper, a control method based on active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is proposed in order to realize seamless transitions between grid-connected and islanding operation modes and stable operation with variable loads. It is verified by simulations that the proposed ADRC-based method features better performance when compared to conventional proportional-integral-differential (PID) control. Meanwhile, the stability of the third-order extended state observer (ESO) in second-order ADRC is validated by using Lyapunov stability criteria.

  • Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) spectra of HCl, N2, and the ν1 fundamental of C2H2 have been measured in the gas phase. The measured spectra show rotational structures which originate from the Q-branch transitions. The spectra have successfully been simulated with proper selection rules, line positions, and relative intensities from room temperature Boltzmann population distributions. The vibration-rotation interaction constant α of HCl in the ground electronic state has been measured from the rotationally resolved CARS spectra which is α=0.3076 cm-1. Possibilities of optical pumping and of measuring state specific energy distributions of molecules are discussed.

  • We present the results of molecular dynamics simulations for three different systems of bilayers of long-chain alkyl thiol [S(CH2)15CH3] molecules on an solid-solid interface using the extended collapsed atom model for the chain-molecule. It is found that there exist two possible transitions: a continuous transition characterized by a change in molecular interaction between sites of different chain molecules with increasing area per molecule and a sudden transition from an ordered lattice-like state to a liquid-like state due to the lack of interactions between sites of chain molecules on different surfaces with increasing distance between two solid surfaces. The third system displays a smooth change in probability distribution characterized by the increment of gauche structure in the near-tail part of the chain with increasing area per molecule. The analyses of energetic results and chain conformation results demonstrate the characteristic change of chain structure of each system.

  • Vanadium oxide-zirconia catalysts were prepared by dry impregnation of powdered Zr(OH)4 with aqueous solution of NH4VO3. The characterization of prepared catalysts was performed using 51V solid state NMR, XRD, and DSC. The addition of vanadium oxide up to 9 mol% to zirconia shifted the phase transitions of ZrO2 from amorphous to tetragonal toward higher temperatures due to the interaction between vanadium oxide and zirconia. On the basis of results of XRD and DSC, it is concluded that the content of V2O5 monolayer covering most of the available zirconia was 9 mol%. The crystalline V2O5 was observed only with the samples containing V2O5 content exceeding the formation of complete monolayer (9 mol%) on the surface of ZrO2.
