  • While emergency operating procedures (EOPs) occupy an important role in the management of various abnormal situations in nuclear power plants (NPPs), current technology for the validation of EOPs still largely depends on manual review. A validation method for EOPs of NPPs is thus proposed based on dynamic multi-level flow modeling (MFM). The MFM modeling procedure and the EOP validation procedure are developed and provided in the paper. Application of the proposed method to EOPs of an actual NPP shows that the proposed method provides an efficient means of validating EOPs. It is also found that the information on state transitions in MFM models during the management of abnormal situations is also useful for further analysis on EOPs including their optimization.

  • Ultraviolet (UVA)-emissive BaSiO3:Ce3+ phosphor was astonishingly reproducible by vacuum-sintering at a high temperature through a simple solid-state reaction method. It was conveniently formed in BaSiO3 phases. The compound showed the UVA emission and the UV-VUV excitation due to 5d-4f transitions from Ce3+ ions: emission peak at 380 nm with a 56 nm width. Its temperature dependence and vacuum UV excitability were examined for practical application as an excimer discharge lamp, which showed the high thermal stability (80% at 100℃) and the strong VUV excitations at 145 nm and 172 nm.

  • The problem addressed in this paper is that of the on-line computational burden of time-optimal control laws for quick, strongly nonlinear systems like revolute robots. It will be demonstrated that a large amount of off-line computation can be substituted for most of the on-line burden in cases of time optimization with constrained inputs if differential point-to- point specifications can be relaxed to cell-to-cell transitions. These cells result from a coarse discretization of likely swaths of state space into a set of nonuniform, contiguous volumes of relatively simple shapes. The cell boundaries approximate stream surfaces of the phase fluid and surfaces of equal transit times. Once the cells have been designed, the bang- bang schedules for the inputs are determined for all likely starting cells and terminating cells. The scheduling process is completed by treating all cells into which the trajectories might unex- pectedly stray as additional starting cells. Then an efficient-to-compute control law can be based on the resulting table of optimal strategies.

  • The gamma-gamma coincidence measurements and angular correlation measurement associated with the electron capture of $^{75}Se$ have been carried to understand the structure for the odd nuclei $^{75}As$ with two HPGe detectors. As a result, we could determined the band structure of 5/2 state to be of 1/2 [310] band which is based on $f_{5/2}$ proton state. Also we obtained the multipole admixture in the state of 279.5keV by using the mixing ratios of $121.1{\sim}279.5keV$ cascade. Subsequently, it is determined that 25.56% electric quadrupole transition is involved in the state of 279.5keV.

  • A Business Process Management System(BPMS) requires transaction management to guarantee reliability for transactions. Though several transaction protocols have been suggested for the transaction management, the difference of transaction protocols interrupts interoperability among transaction management systems. In this paper, a business process transaction based on semantics is suggested. It is defined based on the static semantics and the operational semantics. As the static semantics defines the ontologies for transaction states and transaction messages using Web Ontology Language(OWL), it solves the difference of expression for the concepts of transaction protocols. As the operational semantics defines state transitions of business process transactions using Abstract State Machine(ASM), it can guarantee formalism for transaction operations. The operational semantics refers to the state ontology and message ontology defined in the static semantics. This approach can enhance interoperability among various transaction protocols, increase the understandability for the transaction protocols, and support autonomous transaction execution and systematic transaction monitoring.

  • In this paper, we propose an improved method of state exploration called the extended circular exploration (ECE) for the efficiency of state exploration and the reduction of explosively growing state. The ECE does not need to explore all the reachable global states, and It can be applied to JV($\boxDr$$\geq$ 2) -party protocol with alternative routes, i.e., it is applicable to the protocol In which adaptiverouting mechanism can be performed. The ECE eliminates a restriction of topology of the conventional circular exploration(CE) by exploring only those global states which are reachable, provided that the participant processes of any group of transitions proceed at the same speed, and that they can be formed as a cycle. Thus the state space explored if not exhaustive. The algorithm presented can detect deadlock error and unspecified reception error It requires storage space and /or execution time much less than those of the conventional perturbation(CP) . It might be used for a solution of the N-process collision and the interference mechanism.

  • The Life-Course perspective is a theoretical orientation that views the life-course as the age structure embedded in social institutions and history and understands the life-course of individual and group in the contextual perspective. The life-course perspective studies were developed in Germany and North America. They study social and historical effects and the effect of institutions and the state on the life-course, the pathway of the work career and differences of labour outcomes, and the inequality that is developed in the life-course. In Korea, the life-course perspective studies were tried in various fields and cumulated. However, it didn't established as a theoretical orientation. For applying the life-course perspective to connect the individual life-course with social and historical event, I describe the historical location of individuals born between 1930 and 1979 and analyse the change of their transitions to adulthood exploratorily. On results, the extension of education made the structural change of their life-course, and in young cohort the timing of leaving school, entering workforce, marriage and childbirth was delayed and transitions were made in narrower spread. It means the standardization of the life-course as appears in modern society. The 1970s birth cohort has the differenciated life-course pattern, however I cannot verify that change because of the right censoring.

  • Recent massive data generation by genomics and proteomics requires bioinformatic tools to extract the biological meaning from the massive results. Here we introduce ROSPath, a database system to deal with information on reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated cell signaling pathways. It provides a structured repository for handling pathway related data and tools for querying, displaying, and analyzing pathways. ROSPath data model provides the extensibility for representing incomplete knowledge and the accessibility for linking the existing biochemical databases via the Internet. For flexibility and efficient retrieval, hierarchically structured data model is defined by using the object-oriented model. There are two major data types in ROSPath data model: ‘bio entity’ and ‘interaction’. Bio entity represents a single biochemical entity: a protein or protein state involved in ROS cell-signaling pathways. Interaction, characterized by a list of inputs and outputs, describes various types of relationship among bio entities. Typical interactions are protein state transitions, chemical reactions, and protein-protein interactions. A complex network can be constructed from ROSPath data model and thus provides a foundation for describing and analyzing various biochemical processes.

  • Robinson with ${coworkers}^{1}$ have introduced two-state outer-neighbor bonding model to explain the anomalies of water. The studies on the properties of water as a function of temperature and pressure revealed that, unlike other ideas, all $H_2O$ molecules in liquid are tetrabonded. On the average they are forming two different bonding types. One type is the regular tetrahedral water-water bonding similar to that found in the ordinary ice Ih, whereas the other is a more dense nonregular tetrahedral bonding similar to that appearing in the ice II. The transformation between these two bonding forms is evidenced by FT-NIR experiment. The FT-NIR measurements were done for liquid water in the temperature range from $20^{\circ}C$ up to $80^{\circ}C$ in a wide extent of frequencies: 12 000 - 4000 $cm^{-1}$ /. Temperature dependent variations in the volume fraction of these two structures are directly related to the spectral changes. The absorbance variations are explored by means of the two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (2DCOS), principal component analysis (PCA), curve fitting and second derivatives. The presence of the isosbestic points in a range of the combination and overtone transitions indicates that the experimental spectra are a superposition of two temperature independent components. One component of diminishing intensity with temperature increase, is assigned to a stronger hydrogen bonds occurred in the Ih type, whereas the second component showing an opposite behavior, one can attribute to a weaker H-bonds characteristic for the II type. The understanding of the hydrogen bonding network in the liquid water is very important in interpretation of the interaction between water and protein chain. The two-state model of water surrounding the protein surface could advance an understanding of the hydration process.

  • We propose a method to use a state transition model so that the sensing object can be distinguished through classification of signal patterns sensed by a sensor array. Focusing on the design of the model that is able to distinguish the sensed object more exactly, we present an idea in which the modeling elements, 'states' and 'transitions' are defined as each same-sized angle intervals into which the angle interval $(-\frac{\pi}{2},\frac{\pi}{2})$ is divided and the angle differences between adjacent signal values on sampling signal value sequence value sequence sensed from the sensor array in the uniform time interval, respectively. In addition we show the usefulness of our model through experiments.
