To verify the usefulness of a steam sterilizer equipped with an electronic Bowie-Dick test system, this study was carried out using two methods, utilizing both a steam sterilizer and an electronic Bowie-Dick tester. The first method is to confirm the error detection of the chemical Bowie-Dick test pack and the electronic Bowie-Dick tester in a malfunctioning sterilizer environment. For this purpose, the Bowie-Dick test program for the steam sterilizer was used to test three types of test packs commonly used in hospitals and the electronic Bowie-Dick tester by changing the set values of temperature, time, and vacuum frequency. The second is an experiment to check the sterilizer's normal operation with the electronic Bowie-Dick tester and the usefulness of grasping the cause of the malfunction. The results showed that the sterilization temperature was the same as that of the test pack at a temperature $1{\sim}6^{\circ}C$ lower than the reference temperature of $134^{\circ}C$. In the test with the sterilization exposure time as a variable, there was a normal discoloration at a time difference of 30~90 s. In the experiment using the number of vacuum cycles, the test was correct by performing the normal discoloration only at the normal condition of 3 times. The test results of 30 hospitals were 100 failure tests by a total of 291 Bowie-Dick tests. Of these, the failure factors related to an internal temperature that the chemical test packs could not detect were the greatest, and the four factors related to temperature, including the internal temperature, were found to be 71.18% of total malfunctions. In addition, the Bowie-Dick tester was provided within 30 min after the start of the Bowie-Dick test to confirm the performance of the sterilizer and the detailed cause. A steam sterilizer equipped with an electronic Bowie-Dick test system is used to manage individual sterilizers. In the current steam sterilizer with many temperature-related errors, it is possible to check the malfunction of the temperature difference that the test pack cannot detect, and the cause of error for the sterilizer is immediately detected after the test. The steam sterilizer equipped with the electronic Bowie-Dick test system assists with infection control with accurate sterilizer performance assurance.
Purpose : Marrow edema and fatty degeneration of the hip joint bones could be initial and late signs in hip joint and its bone diseases respectively, which might be differentiated from age-related marrow conversion pattern. So authors have investigated normal marrow conversion pattern of the femur and acetabulum around the hip joints. Materials and methods : Three coronal MR images of 288 hip joint bones in 144 subjects, aged 2 days to 76 years divided to 8 groups every 10 years, were retrospectively analysed for the location and appearance of the converted yellow marrow. The converted yellow marrow were divided to head, neck, and trochanter in the proximal femur and below and above 50% in acetabulum of the hip. Results : The most common type of marrow conversion is the converted yellow marrow in the entire proximal femur and below 50% of acetabulum of the hip. We observed the start of marrow conversion in just before and after 2 years old and stopped at just before and after 20 years old. Conclusion : The understanding of age-related marrow conversion pattern of the hip joint bones would provide some information for differentiation from pathologic condition of them such as edema, fatty degeneration, metastasis, or leukemia.
Sixteen Mediterranean pluriparous buffaloes were subdivided into two uniform groups of eight animals. The average weight of the two groups at the start of the trial was 671.2 and 656.7 kg. The number of days from calving were 33.4 and 33.3, and the average milk production was 12.73 and 12.33 kg/d. The trial lasted for 114 days, and was divided into two sub-periods of 58 and 56 days. The two diets, administered ad libitum, had the same forage/concentrate ratio (53/47) but in their formulation the percentage of the two forages varied. Diet 1: alfalfa hay = 10%, maize silage = 43%, concentrate 1 = 47% (6.63 MJ/kg DM of net energy; 179.5 g/kg DM of crude protein). Diet 2: alfalfa hay = 20%, maize silage = 33%, concentrate 2 = 47%, (5.99 MJ/kg DM of net energy; 155.4 g/kg DM of crude protein). For the overall trial period (33-146 days in milk), the intake of dry matter was 17.23 kg/d for Group 1 and 17.29 kg/d for Group 2 and corresponded to 2.50 and 2.58% (p<0.01) of live weight. There was no significant difference between the average weight (689.7 and 669.4 kg) and the body condition score (6.49 and 6.42) of the two groups of buffaloes. Group 1 produced a greater quantity of milk (11.89 vs. 10.90 kg/d, p<0.10) of better quality both for its higher fat content (82.32 vs. 77.29 g/kg, p<0.10) and its protein content (47.36 and 46.38 g/kg). The milk produced by the buffaloes receiving Diet 1 had a better clotting ability, lower values of r (15.98 and 16.42 min) and K20 (1.66 and 1.75 min) and a higher value of A30 (54.45 and 52.73 mm). Taking into consideration the two sub-periods, milk production was significantly different only in the first sub-period (33-90 DIM), in favour of Group 1 (13.08 vs. 11.56 kg/d, p<0.05), while the positive effect of Diet 1 was cancelled out (10.71 and 10.24 kg/d) in the second part of the trial (91-146 DIM).
Rat embryos were cultured out of the mother from the head-fold stages, 9.5 days to 11.5 days during which they start to develop the brain, eyes, ears and cardiovascular system etc. We principally did the basic experiment in order to establish the best condition of the rat whole embryo culture in our laboratory. The temperature in the culture system was maintained 37$^{\circ}C$$\pm$0.2$^{\circ}C$ for 48 hrs. The culture was carried out in humidified atmosphere of the air, intially, the bottles were equilibrated with 5% $O_2$,5% $CO_2$, and 90% $N_2$gas mixture. After 22 or 24 and 29 or 30 hrs the cultures were reequilibrated with 20% $O_2$, 5% $CO_2$,75% $N_2$and 40% $O_2$, 5% $CO_2$, 55%$N_2$respectively. Various types of sera were tested and for the purpose of minimizing the quantity of rat serum, artificial medium was also tried and it was determined that rat serum supported normal growth over a period of 48 hrs, based on total growth analysis and structural comparisons with in vivo specimens.

Landfilling is one of the most widely used methods for the final disposal of solid wastes. Landfilled wastes are degraded by residing microorganisms and the microbial degradation is affected by many factors such as moisture, oxygen, pH, alkalinity, sulphate, nutrient, temperature, and so on. Especially among these factor, oxygen and moisture within aerobic landfill play a major role in microbial degradation. In this study, 1) the effects of oxygen on the velocity of waste degradation and 2) the effect of moisture on the degradation of municipal solids waste (MSW) in aerobic condition were investigated. It was found that the BOD and CODcr concentration from the leachate of aerobic lysimeters dropped faster by 80 days after the start of the test compared to those from the anaerobic lysimeters. To see the effect of moisture, four aerobic lysimeters filled with MSW and four different levels of moisture (20, 30, 40, and 50%) were installed. From this test, higher moisture in MSW produced higher $CO_2$ concentration, meaning moisture was effective for the microbial degradation. thus, we concluded that higher moisture level in the aerobic landfill might help early-stabilization microbial degradation.
The temperature change patterns of climatic solar terms and their climatic fitness were analyzed. Harmonic analysis based on thirty-year(1981-2010) time-series data from sixty one weather stations across South Korea showed that the central peaks of the extreme heat had shifted toward start of autumn with increasing mean temperature. The overall climatic fitness of solar terms, such as major heat, frost descent, major snow, and major cold, was low, and it showed significant regional variations. The actual meteorological phenomenon representing each climatic solar term was observed much later than the day of the solar term at most weather stations. The number of observations, where an actual meteorological condition for each climatic solar term was recorded within ${\pm}1$ week from the day of that solar term, ranged only from 7.7% to 40.4% of the entire data. Study results also showed that the climatic fitness of major heat, frost descent, and major snow gradually changed in the east-west direction. Major cold, a solar term with higher climatic fitness, was influenced more strongly by latitude than longitude. Considering geographically uneven magnitude and trends in temperature changes, rearrangement and adjustment of time intervals between the solar terms may help us improve their applicability as realistic indicators of seasonal changes.
The purpose of this study was to examine the students' problem solving ability according to numeric expression and the semantic types of addition and subtraction word problems. For this, a research was to analyze the addition and subtraction calculation ability, word problem solving ability of the selected $2^{nd}$ grade(118) and 3rd grade(109) students. We got the conclusion as follows: When the students took the survey to assess their ability to solve the numerical expression and the word problems, the correct answer rates of the result unknown problems was larger than those of the change unknown problems or the start unknown problems. the correct answer rates of the change add-into situation was larger than those of the part-part-whole situation in the result unknown addition word problems: they often presented in text books. And, in the cases of the result unknown subtraction word problems that often presented in text books, the correct answer rates of the change take-away situation was the largest. It seemed probably because the students frequently experienced similar situations in the textbooks. We know that the formal calculation ability of the students was a precondition for successful word problem solving, but that it was not a sufficient condition for that.
Recently, planning road construction in South Korea is focused on upgrading of the existing road by rerouting or restructuring. For this, roads under current construction in Korea go for more straight in its alignments and routing. Straight routing makes it all the more required to construct many mountain tunnels and bridges in Korea where mountains are so widely spread. Some portal of mountain tunnel is not rarely planed at high steep slope of mountain valley where it is not easy to secure working space for tunnel excavation. Reverse excavation is an alternative measure for excavation of tunnel portal at high steep slope. Construction in reverse excavation method has three important points requiring careful consideration: 1)planning of pilot tunnel in proper width, height, and length etc., 2)measure against the effect of one-side earth pressure to the direction of tunnel portal, 3)securing tunnel safety against shallow ground condition at portal zone. This paper intends to suggest applicable range of pilot tunnel for reverse excavation at the portal zone located at high steep slope, and shows result of study on the appropriateness of a reverse excavation by means of 3D numerical analysis. Result of 3D numerical analysis for reverse excavation at high steep slope shows that pilot tunneling will be applicable to start from the point $20{\sim}25m$ before the portal from inside the tunnel.

Digestion of a municipal wastewater sludge by the anaerobic sequencing batch reactor(ASBR) was investigated to evaluate the performance of the ASBR process at a critical condition of high-solids-content feed. The reactors were operated at an HRT of 10 days with an equivalent loading rate of 0.8-1.5 gVS/L/d at $35^{\circ}C.$ The main conclusions drawn from this study were as follows: 1. Digestion of a municipal wastewater sludge was possible using the ASBR in spite of high concentration of settleable solids in the sludge. The ASBRS with 3- and 4-day cycle period showed almost identical high digestion performances. 2. No adverse effect on digestion stability was observed in the ASBRS in spite of withdrawal and replenishment of $30\%\;or\;40\%$ of liquid contents. A conventional anaerobic digester could be easily converted to the ASBR without any stability problem. 3. Flotation thickening occurred in thicken step of the ASBRS throughout steady state, and floating bed volume at the end of thicken period occupied about $70\%$ of the working volume of the reactor. Efficiency of flotation thickening in the ASBRS could be comparable to that of additional gravity thickening of a completely mixed digester. 4. Solids were accumulated rapidly in the ASBR during start-up period. Solids concentrations in the ASBRS were 2.6 times higher than that in the completely mixed control reactor at steady state. Dehydrogenase activity had a strong correlation with the solids concentration. Dehydrogenase activity of the digested sludge in the ASBR was 2.9 times higher than that of the sludge in the control reactor, and about 25 times higher than that of the subnatant in the ASBR. 5. Remarkable increase in equivalent gas production of $52\%$ was observed at the ASBRS compared with the control reactor in spite of similar Quality of clarified effluent from the ASBRS and control reactor. The increase in gas production from the ASBRS was believed to be combined results of accumulation of microorganisms, higher driving force applied, and additional long-term degradation of organics continuously accumulated.
In this study, field measurements were investigated to analyze the load sharing ratio and behavior of piled raft foundation. The field measurements were performed for about 300 days from the start of construction. The geometry of the raft is $3.1m{\times}3.1m$, and the pre-cast and pre-bored pile is 23 m in length and 0.508 m in diameter. Based on the field measurements, the load-settlement relationship of the piled raft foundation was obtained, and the load sharing ratio of the pile was converged to 70% at ultimate loading condition. The load sharing ratio of the pile increased as the settlement increased, and this is because the surface friction of the weathered soil, which is at the lower ground, was significantly increased. Based on the results of the field measurements, load transfer curves were obtained and applied to a numerical analysis by using load transfer method.
