This paper describes the two control techniques to perform the sensorless vector control of a PMSM by injecting the high frequency voltage to the stator terminal. The first technique is the estimation algorithm of the initial rotor position. A PMSM possesses the saliency which produces the ellipse of the stator current when the high frequency voltage is injected into the motor terminal. The major axis angle of the current ellipse gives the rotor position information at a standstill. The second control technique is a sensorless control algorithm that injects the high frequency voltage to the stator terminal in order to estimate the rotor position and speed. The rotor position and speed for sensorless vector control is calculated by appropriate signal processing to extract the position information from the stator current at low speeds or standstill. The proposed sensorless algorithm using the double-band hysteresis controller exhibits excellent reference tracking and increased robustness. Experimental results are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed control schemes. Speed, position estimation and vector control were carried out on the floating point processor TMS320VC33.
The Synchronous inductance in Synchronous Reluctance Motor is an element that is proportional to torque. the exact value must be found for controlling and the performance development of motors. In this paper, the inductances that are obtained by the Finite Element Method and AC standstill Test are compared each other. When controlling the direct torque. the fast response characteristics has been carried out with the inductace by the AC stanstill Test. To test the proposal controller, A Synchronous Reluctance Motor has been designed and manufactured and the adequacy of the proposal control are confirmed thought simulations and experiments.

This paper proposes a new repulsive-Maglev vehicle in which a vertical type PM linear synchronous motor (LSM) can levitate and propel simultaneously, independently of the vehicle speeds. A compact control method is developed which is based on the concept of controlling individually the levitation system by armature-current and the propulsion system by mechanical load-angle. The levitation-motion control experiments have carried out successfully together with positioning at standstill. The pitching motion has been compensated for very well by using the zero-phase-current control method proposed here.
An identification method of induction motor parameters such as rotor time constant and mutual inductance at standstill condition is discussed assuming that stator resistance and leakage has already been obtained applying two different DC voltage and single phase voltage to the induction motor, respectively. This proposed scheme is implemented by means of Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC) technique, which uses a rotor flux equation in voltage model as a reference model and one in current model and is demonstrated through experiment.

This paper presents some results of performance evaluation test via actual machines of a new hybrid vector control utilizing a new indirect orientation scheme and stable filter embedded direct orientation scheme for induction motors without speed or position sensor. It is shown through the test by 0.3(kW) and 3.7(kW) motors that the proposed sensorless vector control has the following high potentialities: 1) speed range is 0 to 600(rad/s) or more, 2) zero-speed command is accepted and settles the machines at a stable standstill with no vibration 3) it can make machines to track variable command of acceleration and deceleration $\pm$6,000(rad/s2), 4) it can make machines to drive directly load of at least 26 times larger inertia than that of the machine, 5) it can make machines to produce much larger torque than the rating in torque control mode even at standstill. The performance confirmed by the test is far away for previous schemes or sensorless drive apparatuses.
In this paper, a detection technique of initial rotor position at a standstill in Toroidal Switched Reluctance Motor(TSRM) with built-in interior central pole search coil is proposed. In case search coils are used as a position sensor, it has many advantages like low cost, decrease in the volume, high robust characteristics and wide applications. However, the initial rotor position detection is very difficult because the search coil's EMF is not exist at a standstill. In this paper, a new detection method of initial rotor position is suggested using interior central pole search coil. The simulation and experiment for the proposed method and their results support the validity of the proposed scheme by verifying the operation of a 6/4 TSRM using search coils.
An inductance measurement method for interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM) is proposed in this paper. In this method, the motor is measured at standstill condition, and only a 3-phase voltage source, an oscilloscope and a DC voltage source are required. Depending on the deductive dq-axis voltage equations in the stationary frame of reference, the dq-axis inductances at different current magnitude and vector angle can be calculated by the measured 3-phase voltages and currents. And hence, the saturation and cross-magnetizing effect of the inductances are measurable. This paper introduces the principle equations, experiment setup, data processing, and results comparison on the concentrated-winding and distributed-winding IPMSMs.
Recently, the elimination of speed sensors has been one of the important requirement in vector control systems, because the speed sensor spoil the ruggedness and simplicity of induction motor. This paper proposes sensorless vector control for high performance of induction motor. The proposed vector control scheme is based on a rotor flux and speed which are calculated from the stator voltage and currents with improved flux estimator. The characteristics of vector control employing stator voltage and current generally deteriorate as the speed gets lower acause the calculated rotor flux depends on the stator resistance and it is difficult to calculate rotor flux at low speed of standstill. This new control system is robust with respect to variations of the stator resistance and it makes possible to calculated rotor flux at low speed of standstill. These feature are verified by the simulation results.
Recently, electric vehicles have got significant attention because it is more eco-friendly and efficient than internal combustion engine vehicles. Instead of an internal combustion engine, the electric vehicle has a motor for propulsion. The permanent magnet synchronous motor which has permanent magnet instead of field winding in the rotor has especially higher efficiency and power density than other types of motor. When the irreversible demagnetization is occurred, drivers are exposed to high risk of accident by the fault operation of motor. Therefore, the irreversible demagnetization of permanent magnet should be detected to reduce the risk of accident. In this study, the demagnetization diagnosis method based on the result of locked rotor test is proposed. Based on short measurement time, the proposed diagnosis method aims to detect the demagnetization fault when an electric vehicle is at a complete standstill. The proposed method is verified through the finite element analysis.
As Synchronous Reluctance Motor gives reluctance torque, An inductance is an important parameter that is proportional to torque. To achieve the high performance in sensorless control, it is necessary to consider exact inductance values because the inductance is not a constant parameter anymore. Therefore, this paper shows the inductance measurement using DC current decay test, AC standstill test, and AC standstill test considering Cross Magnetization. This inductance has also been compared with the result that is analyzed by FEM.
