  • Degree-Of-Freedom(DOF) for most power transmission system varies according to the operation status which consists of friction elements to change the power flow or to adjust the speed ratio such as clutches, brakes or one-way clutches. To simulate the dynamic characteristics of automatic power transmission system which is a typical example of such a variable DOF systems, many sets of governing equations and complicated phase decision routines are necessary. In this paper dynamic constraint theorem is derived explaining the torque transmission characteristics during the clutch engagement process and a robust stable algorithm is developed describing this phase transition phenomenon effectively by introducing the concept of direct torque and virtual damping. Finally, applying this algorithm to a passenger car automatic transmission gear consisting of several friction elements, an efficient simulation methods for such a complex system will be suggested that is very simple and systematic.

  • Treatment of Hafnia alvei aspartase with limited tryptic digestion resulted in a marked increase in enzymatic activity. The activation required a few minutes to attain maximum level and, thereafter, the activity gradually decreased to complete inactivation. The degree of cleavage associated with the activation was extremely small as judged by SDS-PAGE. Upon activation, the optimum pH and temperature were essentially unchanged. When trypsin-activated enzyme was denatured in 4 M guanidine-HCI followed by removal of the denaturant by dilution, the restoration of activity was similar (40%) to that of the native enzyme, indicating a degree of stability. The $pK_a$ obtained on the acidic side and the $pK_b$ obtained on the basic side of trypsin-activated aspartase were 6.6 and 8.6, respectively, the same as those of the native aspartase, indicating that aspartase may exist in a stable conformation after limited tryptic digestion. These results indicate that the activation of H. alvei may be mediated by a conformational change away from the active site of individual subunits.

  • This study investigates the spatial distribution of the degree of water pollutants in Han River using data obtained by the water pollution observation stations. This study estimates a non -parametric kernel density function for each water pollutants, and tests a significant difference between two estimated distribution functions. Next, Generalized Entropy inequality indices are evaluated and this research tests difference of inequality indices between two years using bootstrapping method. Lastly in a dynamic of view, it is analyzed that there are significant changes in the ranking of water pollution level. Estimation results show that the degree of inequality in spatial distribution of water pollution tends to be stable or decreasing for last 15 years in a great part of water pollutants, and ranking of water pollution level hardly changes in Han River.

  • We study the impact of loss-aversion and the threat of critical damages from insufficient pollutant abatement, which we jointly call threshold concerns, on the outcome of international environmental agreements. We aim to understand whether concerns for a critical level of damages induce cooperation among countries faced with the well-known free-riding problem, and yield sufficient emission reductions to avoid exceeding the threshold. Specifically, we focus on loss-averse countries negotiating under the threat of either high or low environmental damages. Under symmetry, when countries display identical degrees of threshold concern, we show that such beliefs have a positive effect on reducing the emission levels of both signatories to the treaty and non-signatories, leading to weakly larger coalitions of signatories than in the absence of reference dependence. We then introduce asymmetry, by allowing countries to differ in the degree of concern about the damages. We show that stable coalitions are mostly formed by the countries with higher threshold concerns. When enough countries exhibit standard preferences, the coalition size may diminish, regardless of the degree of concern by the others.

  • The collective of highly reliable traffic data is necessary for traffic signal control. This study is to test application of RTMS sensor to traffic signal control. In order to find out the possibility of its application th traffic signal control, 5 types of experiments were performed. The major findings are as follows ; -The detection are a has been changing according to degree and gain. -At the results of experiments for interference are a measure, Degree 60 is stable condition. -At the results of reliability test for volume and speed. the error rate decreases as speed increases and that of Zone 1 is lower than that of Zone 3. -Two modes are set up for reliability test of traffic volume. It founds that the detection reliability of the stopped vehicles are higher than that of the passing vehicles at sidefire-intersection mode. It founds that the results are vice-versa at sidefire-highway mode. Conclusively, this sensor cannot directly apply to colection of traffic data for traffic signal control. However, this sensor can be substituted for a loop detector which is used popularly for signal control, and freeway traffic control if above faults are made up.

  • Transient stability analysis of Korea Electric power Corporation(KEPCO) system is conducted by time simulation method, and the method is robust and reliable. But, time simulation consumes enormous computing resources and engineering time, and it does not provide a measure of the degree of stability of the system. Therefore, this method does not apply to every changed condition appropriately and quickly in planning and operating. And Transient Energy Function (TEF) method whis can assess quickly and quantatively the degree of stability of the system and which judges the stability and the instability to analyse transient dynamic charater of the system by mutual changing kinetic energy and potential energy, is developed. TEF method analyses the first Swing transient stability of the system by using the thought that if after disturbance happening, the increase of all the rotator kinetic energy changes into the potential energy after diturbance clearing, the system is stable, otherwise the system is unstable. This paper represents the availabiIity of the TEF method by comparing with time simulation method on the two cases.

  • It is well known that a lean burn engine caused by stratified mixture formation has many kinds of advantages to combustion characteristics, such as higher thermal efficiency and lower CO, NOx levels than conventional homogeneous mixture combustion. Although this combustion can achieve low fuel consumption technology, it produces much unburned hydrocarbon and soot because of heterogeneous equivalence ratio in the combustion chamber. Therefore, the stratified mixture formation technology is very important to obtain the stable lean combustion. In this paper, fundamental studies for stratified combustion were carried out using a constant volume combustion chamber. The local effect of mixture formation according to control air-fuel distribution in the chamber was examined experimentally. In addition, the effect of turbulence on stratified charge combustion process was observed by schlieren photography. From this study, we found that the flame propagation speed increase with swirl flow and the swirl promotes the formation of fuel and air mixture.

  • In this paper, a new nonlinear dynamic model is derived for a 2-dimensional overhead crane based on a new definition of 2-degree-of-freedom swing angle, and a new anti-swing control law is proposed for the crane. The dynamic model and control law take simultaneous travel and traverse motions of the crane into consideration. The model is first linearized for small motions of the crane load about the vertical stable equilibrium. Then the model becomes decoupled and symmetric with respect to the travel and traverse axes of the crane. From this result, a decoupled anti-swing control law is proposed based on the linearized model via the loop shaping and root locus methods. This decoupled method guarantees not only fast damping of load-swing but also zero steady state position error with optimal transient response for the 2-dimensional motion of the crane. Finally, the proposed control method is evaluated by controlling the simultaneous travel and traverse motions of a 2-dimensional prototype overhead crane. The effectiveness of the proposed control method is then proven by the experimental results.

  • To study the vibration frequency of super high-rise buildings in the process of vortex induced vibration (VIV), wind tunnel tests of multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) aero-elastic models were carried out to measure the vibration frequency of the system directly. The effects of structural damping, wind field category, mass density, reduced wind velocity ($V_r$), as well as VIV displacement on the VIV frequency were investigated systematically. It was found that the frequency drift phenomenon cannot be ignored when the building is very high and flexible. When $V_r$ is less than 8, the drift magnitude of the frequency is typically positive. When $V_r$ is close to the critical wind velocity of resonance, the frequency drift magnitude becomes negative and reaches a minimum at the critical wind velocity. When $V_r$ is larger than12, the frequency drift magnitude almost maintains a stable value that is slightly smaller than the fundamental frequency of the aero-elastic model. Furthermore, the vibration frequency does not lock in the vortex shedding frequency completely, and it can even be significantly modified by the vortex shedding frequency when the reduced wind velocity is close to 10.5.

  • Work stress and health are very important factors related to workers' condition and work safety, Author has conducted a couple of tests to check up three people's pulses before they work during their work for three types of safety guard in construction site. Work type, age, weight, sex experience year, ambient temperature n recorded as variables in this study. These are checked and asked by the author directly, before their pulse check Also, workers' Pulses were measured at height H-0 and H-9.0m to understand psychological the degree of psychological nervousness degree. POLAR protrainer NVTM HRM system(wrist recorder and sensor) was used for the site test. There are three(3) different types of construction safety guard which have been used for, this study. They are usually or frequently used and found in the site. Four different ranges of age groups(20's, 30's 40's, 50's) carpenters are assisted to the test sites with wearing pulse recorder and sensor respectively. All three types of safety guards have the same height 90㎝ even though they are different types. On top of five(5) stories tublar framed scaffolding is fabricated, similar to the one in site, where those safety guards are installed. The older(=more experienced) the workers are the more stable they are. it is shown. Also, It is verified the visually uncomfortable rail type can cause workers to psychologically be unstable.
