  • As DLC coating possesses such features as, high hardness, high elasticity, abrasion resistance and chemical stability, there have been exerted continuous efforts in research works in a variety of fields, and this technology has also been applied widely to industrial areas. In this research work, the optimal grinding condition was identified using Microlens Process Machine in order to contribute to the development of aspheric glass which is to be used for mobile phone module having 2 megapixel and $2.5{\times}$ zoom, and mold core (WC) was manufactured having performed ultra-precision machining and effects of DLC coating on shape accuracy(P-V) of mold core and surface roughness(Ra) as well were measured and evaluated.

  • A numerical analysis based on the nonlinear Schroedinger equation is presented to analyze the propagation stability of the average soliton in a simple nonlinear amplifying loop mirror. The ratio of amplification period to soliton period and the length fraction of the erbium-doped fiber in the loop are varied to investigate their effects on the soliton stability. It is observed that stable soliton propagation is obtained even when the amplification period is only slightly shorter than the soliton period when the length fraction of the erbium-doped fiber in the loop is small, which is different from the previously published condition for stable average soliton propagation.

  • In this study, the use of a continuous-wave (CW) supercontinuum (SC) seeded by an erbium-doped fiber's amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) for optical-coherence tomography imaging is experimentally demonstrated. It was shown, by taking an in-depth image of a human tooth sample, that due to the smooth, flat spectrum and long-term stability of the proposed CW SC, it can be readily applied to the spectral-domain optical-coherence tomography system. The relative-intensity noise level and spectral bandwidth of the CW SC are also experimentally analyzed as a function of the ASE beam power.

  • Target detection (TD) is a research hotspot in the field of hyperspectral imaging (HSI). Traditional TD methods often mine targets from HSIs under a single imaging condition, without considering the influence of imaging conditions. In fact, the spectra of ground objects in HSIs are uncertain and affected by the imaging conditions (weather, atmospheric, light, time, and other angle conditions including zenith angle). Hyperspectral data changes under different imaging conditions. Therefore, the detection result for a single imaging condition cannot accurately reflect the effectiveness of the detection method used. It is necessary to analyze the performance of various detection methods under different imaging conditions, to find a more applicable detection method. In this paper, we study the performance of TD methods under various land-based imaging conditions. We first summarize classical TD methods and evaluation methods. Then, the detection effects under various imaging conditions are analyzed. Finally, the concepts of the stability coefficient (SC) and effective area under the curve (EAUC) are proposed to comprehensively evaluate the applicability of detection methods under land-based imaging conditions, in terms of both detection accuracy and stability. This is conducive to our selection of detection methods with better applicability in land-based contexts, to improve detection accuracy and stability.

  • New Y-type polyester (3) containing nitrophenylazoresorcinoxy groups as NLO chromophores, which are components of the polymer backbone, was prepared and characterized. Polyester 3 is soluble in common organic solvents such as N,N-dimethylformamide and acetone. It shows a thermal stability up to $240^{\circ}C$ in thermogravimetric analysis with glass-transition temperature ($T_g$) obtained from differential scanning calorimetry near $116^{\circ}C$. The second harmonic generation (SHG) coefficient ($d_{33}$) of poled polymer film at the 1064 nm fundamental wavelength is around $4.63{\times}10^{-9}$ esu. The dipole alignment exhibits a thermal stability even at $4^{\circ}C$ higher than $T_g$, and there is no SHG decay below $120^{\circ}C$ due to the partial main-chain character of polymer structure, which is acceptable for NLO device applications.

  • 2,5-Di-(2'-hydroxyethoxy)benzylidenemalononitrile (3) was prepared and polymerized with 2,4-toluenediisocyanate and 3,3'-dimethoxy-4,4'-biphenylenediisocyanate to yield novel T-type polyurethanes 4 and 5 containing 2,5-dioxybenzylidenemalononitrile, nonlinear optical (NLO)-chromophores as part of the polymer backbones. Polyurethanes 4 and 5 were soluble in common organic solvents such as acetone and N,Ndimethylformamide and showed a thermal stability up to $250{^{\circ}C}$ with glass-transition temperatures ($T_g$) in the range $119-146{^{\circ}C}$. The second harmonic generation (SHG) coefficients ($d_{33}$) of poled polymer films at 1064 nm fundamental wavelength were around $5.82{\times}10^{-9}$ esu. The dipole alignment exhibited high thermal stability up to $T_g$, and there was no SHG decay below $140{^{\circ}C}$ due to the partial main-chain character of the polymer structure, which was acceptable for nonlinear optical device applications.

  • An optimization technique with variable orthogonalization and SVD(singular value decomposition) is examined in a double-Gauss type photographic lens design and its convergence and stability are compared with ordinary least squares and DLS(damped least squares) method. It is known that there are close relationship between the stability of optimization and condition number of nomal equation, the ratio between maximum and minimum of eigenvalues. In this study, the stability is greatly improved by limiting the condition number, the SVD, as expeded. The case of DLS with small damping, orthogonalization and SVD shows the most rapid convergence and stability. It means that the unstability of DLS method with small damping is overcome by using the variable orthogonalization and SVD.

  • Photographic lenses and an aspheric optical pickup-lens are designed by using damped least-squares(DLS) method. We start optimization with arbitrary initial damping factor. To improve the rate of convergence and the stability in optimization, we apply the special procedure that estimates numerical adequacy of derivative increments of variables to the DLS method. When the initial damping factor is almost equal to the median of series of eigenvalues, the convergence and the stability of the method significantly are improved. Optimized lenses have the performance of each target.
