This experiment examined the effect of Samultang-gamibang (SGB) on hair growth in spontaneous alopecia areata C57BL/6N mice. We first investigated hair growth effect of SGB compare to control groups after apply to oral administration for 10 weeks and regional treatment in skin for last 4 weeks. We second investigated the number of hair follicle and mast cells after treatment of SGB in spontaneous alopecia areata C57BL/6N mice for 10 weeks. We third investigated immunoreactive density of neuropeptides in skin of spontaneous alopecia areata C57BL/6N mice by immunohistochemical methods. The results were as follows : Hair growing effect of experimental group was observed from 7 weeks after administration of SGB (87.5%). In experimental group, the number of mast cells and eosinophils was significantly decreased compare to control group. Immunoreactive density of substance P and corticotropin releasing factor (CRF) in skin of experimental group was weakly stained in epidermis and subcutaneous tissue compare to control group. Immunoreactive density of CRF-receptor (CRF-R), CRF-binding protein (CRF-BP) in skin of experimental group was increased in epidermis, sebaceous gland, inner root sheath, outer root sheath and secondary hair germ epithelium compare to control group. These results suggest that SGB may be used in treatment of alopecia areata.

Objective: The purpose of the study was to investigate the time from the injection of muscle relaxants to the first spontaneous respiration between sugammadex and conventional reversal for patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Methods: This study was retrospectively conducted on patients who were diagnosed with gallbladder stone (N802) between January 2014 and April 2017. The data were collected from the electronic medical records of a total of 186 patients (84 patients in the neostigmine group and 102 patients in the sugammadex group). Results: The time required for the first spontaneous respiration in the sugammadex group was shorter than that in the neostigmine group (3.6 min vs 4.9 min; p<0.05). After the injection of intermediate muscle relaxants, the comparison of heart rate and mean arterial pressure in the sugammadex and neostigmine groups revealed that the heart rate in the neostigmine group was higher than in the sugammadex group after 5 min (p<0.05). The mean arterial pressure in the neostigmine group was higher than in the sugammadex group after 10 min (p<0.05). A significant adverse effect of tachycardia was observed in the neostigmine group (p<0.05), but the frequency of rescue antiemetic in the sugammadex group was significantly higher than in the neostigmine group (p<0.05). Conclusion: In this study, the unwanted effect of neostigmine group was tachycardia; therefore, in the case of patients with hemodynamic instability, sugammadex is recommended. At 12 hours after the injection of sugammadex to patients, more antiemetics were required than in the neostigmine group; therefore, more research should be conducted on postoperative nausea and vomiting.

Objective: The aim of present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of low-dose intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) therapy in women with recurrent spontaneous abortions (RSA) and elevated pre-conceptional peripheral blood CD56+Natural Killer (NK) cell percentage. Study Design: Retrospective case control study. Materials and Methods: Thirty three women with RSA and elevated pre-conceptional peripheral blood CD56+NK cell percentage who had received low-dose IVIg therapy (400 mg/kg per day, every 4 week, until 20 gestational weeks) were included in this study. Controls were nine women with RSA and elevated pre-conceptional peripheral blood CD56+ Natural Killer (NK) cell percentage who had not received IVIg therapy were included in this study. Medical records of study and control groups were retrospectively analyzed and we compared the successful pregnancy outcomes between two groups. Successful pregnancy outcome was defined as pregnancy ongoing beyond 25 gestational weeks. Results: Age, number of previous abortions, pre-conceptional CD56+NK cell percentage and type of RSA were not statistically different between two groups. Otherwise, twenty-five women who received IVIg therapy (25/33, 75.8%) but, only three women who had not received (3/9, 33.3%) had a successful pregnancy outcome and the rate difference between two groups was statistically significant. Conclusion: Based on our study, low-dose IVIg therapy have a effective role in treatment of RSA patients with elevated pre-conceptional peripheral blood CD56+ Natural Killer (NK) cell percentage, but more larger scaled prospective study is needed for available of conclusive evidence.

Objectives: We aimed to investigate the clinical effect of low-dose intravenous immunoglobulin treatment in unexplained recurrent spontaneous aborters (RSA) with elevated peripheral CD56+ natural killer (NK) cell levels and to determine the pre-conceptional NK cell percentage predictive of subsequent successful pregnancy outcome. Materials and Methods: Sixty four cases of unexplained recurrent miscarriage with elevated peripheral NK cells (>15%) were received low dose IVIg infusion at the dosage of 400 mg/Kg/month after confirmation of gestational sac and continued until 20 weeks. The patients were divided into two groups according to the pregnancy outcome: Group I was success of treatment defined as live birth at or after 25 gestational weeks and Group II was failure of treatment. The preconceptional levels of the peripheral blood NK cells were compared between two groups. Results: Fifty-three pregnancies resulted in live births after 25 weeks and 11 resulted in abortion (Overall success rate of IVIG treatment was 82.8%). Preconceptional CD56+ NK cell percentage in group II ($27.4{\pm}1.9%$) was higher than those in group I ($22.3{\pm}0.8%$). By using ROC curve, optimal discrimination between success and failure of treatment was achieved with ${\leq}27%$ of preconceptional NK cell percentage. Conclusion: In RSA patients with elevated NK cells, we suggest that preconceptional peripheral blood CD56+ NK cell level could be a useful marker for predicting successful treatment outcome of low-dose IVIg infusion.
Recently, due to the increase in domestic and international online e-commerce platforms and the increase in container traffic at domestic ports, the operating ratio of large trucks has increased, and the number of truck fires is continuously increasing. In particular, spontaneous combustion is the most common cause of truck fires. Various academic approaches have been attempted to prevent truck fires, but due to the lack of research on the spontaneous tire ignition phenomenon that occurs during braking, this research directly designed and manufactured an experimental device to establish an environment similar to the braking system of a truck. A non-contact temperature sensor was installed on the brake device of the experimental device to collect temperature data generated from the brake device. Based on the data collected from the temperature sensor of the brake device and the temperature sensor on the tire surface, the ARIMA model among the time series prediction models was used to Appropriate parameters were selected to suit the temperature change trend, and as a result of comparing and analyzing the measured and predicted data, an accuracy of over 90% was obtained. Based on this, a plan was proposed to reduce the rate of fires in trucks by providing real-time warnings and support for truck drivers to respond to overheating phenomena occurring in the braking system.

Purpose : This study was performed to follow the natural course and size change of isolated atrial septal defect(ASD) secundum. Methods : Among the newly diagnosed with ASD secundum at the division of pediatric cardiology in Yonsei cardiovascular hospital from January 1996 to December 2000, 89 patients with pure ASD secundum were checked by the serial echocardiographic evaluation to measure the size change. Results : There was a statistical difference(P<0.05) in the rate of spontaneous closure and size change of the defect between the group of bigger defect(>8 mm) and the group of smaller defect (${\leq}8mm$). There was also a statistical difference(P<0.05) in the rate of spontaneous closure and size change of the defect between the group of younger than three years of age and the group of older than three years of age. The initial size of the defect and change of size were the significant influencing factors in the rate of spontaneous closing of ASD. In the group of patients who have persistent ASD, the size of defect showed a tendency of increasing size of defect with the age(P<0.005); however in the correction of these values by the body surface area of each patients, there was no statistical difference. Conclusion : The possibility of spontaneous closure of pure ASD secundum was higher in the group of patients who have smaller defect and who were younger. The ASD secundum that did not have spontaneous closure showed an increase in size with the growth of the patients; however when this size was corrected by the body surface area, there was no statistical difference. The closure of the defect was at 26.2 months of age so close follow-up of the patients is important.

Background : Neutrophil-mediated inflammation is usually self-limiting, because neutrophils have a remarkably short life span. Prolonged neutrophil survival, which is caused by decreased spontaneous apoptosis, leads to persistent inflammation in sepsis. Because many inflammatory cytokines, which generate signals that delay apoptosis, are regulated by nuclear factor-${\kappa}B$ transcription factor, we hypothesized that nuclear factor-${\kappa}B$ might be related to the reduced neutrophil apoptosis observed in sepsis. Methods : Neutrophils of healthy volunteers and sepsis patients were freshly isolated from venous blood. Neutrophil apoptosis was assayed with two approaches : by counting apoptotic cells under a microscope and by flow cytometry using Annexin V. The activity of nuclear factor-${\kappa}B$ was assessed by immunofluorescent staining or electrophoretic mobility shift assay. Expression of X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis was measured by western blot assay. Results : We confirmed reduced spontaneous neutrophil apoptosis in patients with sepsis. The number of apoptotic neutrophils in patients with sepsis increased to the level of that in healthy controls after cycloheximide treatment, suggesting that decreased spontaneous neutrophil apoptosis is dependent on de novo protein synthesis. In patients with sepsis, basal neutrophil nuclear factor-${\kappa}B$ was activated compared to the level in healthy controls. Moreover, a blockade of nuclear factor-${\kappa}B$ activity reversed the decreased spontaneous neutrophil apoptosis in sepsis patients. Meanwhile, X-linked inhibition of apoptosis expression, which is regulated by nuclear factor-${\kappa}B$, decreased 24 hours after incubation in healthy persons, but persisted for 24 hours in patients with sepsis. Conclusion : These observations suggest that the reduced spontaneous neutrophil apoptosis observed in patients with sepsis may be related to the induction of survival protein by nuclear factor-${\kappa}B$.

Objectives: The French National Occupational Diseases Surveillance and Prevention Network (RNV3P) is a French network of occupational disease specialists, which collects, in standardised coded reports, all cases where a physician of any specialty, referred a patient to a university occupational disease centre, to establish the relation between the disease observed and occupational exposures, independently of statutory considerations related to compensation. The objective is to compare the relevance of disproportionality measures, widely used in pharmacovigilance, for the detection of potentially new disease ${\times}$ exposure associations in RNV3P database (by analogy with the detection of potentially new health event ${\times}$ drug associations in the spontaneous reporting databases from pharmacovigilance). Methods: 2001-2009 data from RNV3P are used (81,132 observations leading to 11,627 disease ${\times}$ exposure associations). The structure of RNV3P database is compared with the ones of pharmacovigilance databases. Seven disproportionality metrics are tested and their results, notably in terms of ranking the disease ${\times}$ exposure associations, are compared. Results: RNV3P and pharmacovigilance databases showed similar structure. Frequentist methods (proportional reporting ratio [PRR], reporting odds ratio [ROR]) and a Bayesian one (known as BCPNN for "Bayesian Confidence Propagation Neural Network") show a rather similar behaviour on our data, conversely to other methods (as Poisson). Finally the PRR method was chosen, because more complex methods did not show a greater value with the RNV3P data. Accordingly, a procedure for detecting signals with PRR method, automatic triage for exclusion of associations already known, and then investigating these signals is suggested. Conclusion: This procedure may be seen as a first step of hypothesis generation before launching epidemiological and/or experimental studies.

We propose a multi-strategic concept-spotting approach for robust spoken language understanding of conversational Korean in a hostile recognition environment such as in-car navigation and telebanking services. Our concept-spotting method adopts a partial semantic understanding strategy within a given specific domain since the method tries to directly extract predefined meaning representation slot values from spoken language inputs. In spite of partial understanding, we can efficiently acquire the necessary information to compose interesting applications because the meaning representation slots are properly designed for specific domain-oriented understanding tasks. We also propose a multi-strategic method based on this concept-spotting approach such as a voting method. We present experiments conducted to verify the feasibility of these methods using a variety of spoken Korean data.
Objectives: The purpose of these cases is to report the effects of Korean medicine on two women with recurrent miscarriage. Methods: One women who had recurrent miscarriage with myoma uteri was 39 years old. She was treated with herbal medicine and acupuncture until intrauterine pregnancy (IUP) 14 wks. the other who had recurrent miscarriage with adenomyosis was 40 years old. she was also treated with these until IUP 11 wks. Results: After treatment, one women delivered successfully by normal full term spontaneous delivery. The other succeeded in normal pregnancy and she is 15 weeks pregnant. Conclusions: Two cases show that Korean Medicine has effects on recurrent miscarriage with old age and underlying diseases.
