  • To improve the shock resistance of the microdrive under non-operating conditions, an isolator was attached to the contacting part of the microdrive. Through FE analysis, design parameters for satisfying the allowable acceleration level of the spindle motor bearing part were presented, which is a most possible critical part of the microdrive.

  • The recent machine tools are requested so high-quality processing and productivity increasing. Therefore it is so necessary to develop technology for high-speed and high-precision. This thesis touches on the development of high speed and intellectual line center. At first, the line center is necessary that strong structure, compact structure an light weight design for high-speed processing and transfer. So. It is necessary that examination of new materials and structures for light-weight and control devices for precision processing. So. it si going to make mention of the process of 1st model production for the above-mentioned base on test model production and evaluation.

  • As the optical disk drive is getting applied to wider ranges, higher density of media and higher velocity of spindle motor are demanded and therefore its design criterion is becoming more strict. Especially, the vibration problem is one of the most important factors to be considered for reliable performance. In this study, the possibility of the application of the vibration absorber using rubber mount was investigated by 3 dimensional modeling and analysis by Recurdyn program. The model chosen was a vibration absorber using rubber mount installed on the sled base of the optical disk drive.

  • As HDD moves into new emerging consumer markets, expectations on quietness, as well as performance, have increased. The acoustic noise of HDD seems to be closely related to excitation of the spindle motor system. Recently, as a simple approach to reduce disk vibration, thicker disk, which is 50 mil (1.27mm), starts to use in HDD industry. Noise spectrum of HDD with use of 50 mil disk shows the dominant peaks of 900 Hz, mainly caused by excitations of the disk due to air windage effect. In order to reduce noise at this specific frequency, squeeze air damping effect was investigated by extremely reducing the gap between the disk and the base platform.

  • The demands for robotic and automatic system are continually increasing in manufacturing fields. There have been many studies to monitor and predict the system, but they have mainly focused upon measuring cutting force, and current of motor spindle, and upon using acoustic sensor, etc.In this study, time series sequence of cutting force was acquired by taking advantage of piezoelectric type tool dynamometer. Radial cutting force was obtained from it and was available for useful observation data. The parameter was estimated using PAA (parameter adaptation algorithm) from observation data. ARMA(auto regressive moving average) model was selected for system model and second order was decided according to parameter estimation. Uncorrelation test was also carried out to verify convergence of parameter.

  • A worm screw is widely used in a geared motor unit for motion conversion from rotation to linear motion. For mass production of a high quality worm, the current roll forming process is substituted with the milling cutter process. Since the milling cutter process enables the integration of all machining operations of worm manufacturing on a CNC(Computer Numerical Control) lathe, productivity can be remarkably improved. The tooling system for side milling cutter on the CNC lathe to improve machinability is developed. However, the runout of spindle and cutting tips are important factors to be considered for producing high quality worms because the tooling system has multiple tips. In this study, surface roughness variations accuracy according to runout was investigated in side milling cutter for worm screw. The result shows by simulation and experiment.

  • Recent issue of optical actuator is applying to mobile device. It leads actuator to become smaller than conventional type. This paper proposes the design of micro actuator plate spring and analysis of its vibration characteristic. Considering natural frequency of spindle motor, 1st and 2nd eigenfrequency of micro actuator must avoid its natural frequency. First, magnetic circuit is designed by using fine pattern coil and magnetic force is acquired by simulation program. Then, concept design is achieved by topology optimization. From concept design, micro actuator plate spring is embodied through DOE(design of experiment). Finally, considering vibration characteristic simultaneously, optimal plate spring design is determined by RSM(response surface method).

  • This research investigates the characteristicsw of NRRO in a 2.5" HDD by using FEM, modal testing and runout analysis, and reduces NRRO using visco-elastic damping material. Most frequency components of NRRO are generated by the defects of ball and rotating race, and they can be determined by the kinematic analysis of ball bearing. It also proposes the novel design of a spindle motor that can reduce NRRO effectively by inserting the visco-elastic damping material to one of the transmission path of NRRO, i.e., where the strain energy is highly concentrate. By this technique, NRRO is reduced by 27%. 27%.

  • Piezoelectric element is deformed by driving voltage pattern. We developed a device of moving LD(laser disk) to use the rapid deformation of piezoelectric element. If driving voltage is changed very rapidly, the difference of acceleration is accurred between spindle motor and LD. To move LD on turn table is attained by utilizing difference of acceleration. This paper describes theoretical and experimental results about the movement of LD and presents to measure the center of mass LD with unbalance force.

  • This paper studies the indirect parameters when the new and worn end mill working in the machining center. The parameter output methods are cutting force, current values and AE signals. In the result, when the worn end mill operating, cutting forces increase the 14.71〔N〕, current values increase the 2.917〔A〕 and 1.168〔A〕 according to the spindle mote. and feed motor, and AE signals increase the 0.588$\times$10$^{-5}$ 〔A〕. We can use these parameters in the detection of end mill wear.
