  • PFA(Paper Fly Ash) are reclaimed mainly or used in cement industry field as mixture agent in terms of materials recycling. Recently, research for recycling PFA as embankment materials or soil stabilization agent are undergoing in geotechnical engineering field. In this study, physical characteristics of PFA stabilization agent-soil admixtures are examined in change of water content, void ratio, consistency, grain distribution, specific gravity and density. Futhermore, the physical characteristics are compared with unconfined strength as engineering characteristics. Test results showed that unconfined strength and density are increased with increasing of PFA stabilization agent mixed ratio. On the other hand, specific gravity, void ratio and water content are decreased with increasing of PFA stabilization agent mixed ratio. It would be concluded that natural high water content ratio weak soil could be highly improved engineering and physical characteristics with PFA stabilization agent

  • Universities that offer architectural engineering programs in Korea are making efforts to introduce innovation teaching methods to cultivate teamwork, creativity, flexibility of thought and practical skills needed for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. However, there is a lack of specific measures to support them. In this regard, this study investigated a method of application development for building construction courses applied with the innovation teaching methods. It mainly focused on 'improvement directions for existing learning management systems' and 'online learning support plans using the innovation teaching method' as research contents. It is expected that these improvement directions can be applied to the field of education through the development of mobile and web-based applications. In the follow-up research, the development of specific software for field application will be carried out.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the problem solving strategy for Goldberg machine tasks of the gifted students in elementary science depending on the cognitive style(tendency to field-dependent and field independent). It was aimed to provide suggestions for the features and differences of the problem solving strategies of the gifted students in elementary science according to their cognitive styles. A total of 16 students, from the gifted class of P elementary school in Hwaseong were sampled for the research, cognitive styles Test was conducted to divide the students in teams, and the teams were classified according to cognitive style tendencies to five groups of field-dependent group, weak field-dependent group, mixed group, weak field-independent group and field-independent group. The Goldberg device task given was to make a Goldberg device within the angle framework of (Figure) 1, for a bead to start from the starting point and to reach the final point the last. The results are as follows: First, regarding the plan for producing the device, the stronger the field-independent tendency, they established more specific strategy-reflected plan; the stronger the field-dependent tendency, they established less specific strategy-reflected plan. Second, all cognitive style groups took a limited period of time into consideration, to fabricate the devices for the ball to arrive the last using a fine adjustment rather than many devices. Third, the field-independent group used a lot of logical reasoning; the field-dependent group used a lot of intuitive thinking. Fourth, the field independent group properly utilized strategies such as cooperation and role allocation; the field-dependent group tried to solve the task personally rather than cooperatively with poor role allocation. Fifth, the intermediate mixed group solved the problem better than the inclined groups such as field-dependent or field-independent groups.

  • One field identified by an inverse method is one of multiple candidate solutions those are independently obtained through a specific estimation technique. While averaging of optimized fields can provide a better description of the spatial feature of an unknown field, it deteriorates the flow and transport characteristics of the optimized fields. As a result, the averaged field is not suited for modeling aquifer performances. Based on genetic algorithm, an optimal field synthesis technique is developed, which combines diversely optimized fields into a refined group of fields. Each field in the population is paired, and a sub-region of each field is exchanged by crossover operation to create a group of synthesized fields of enhanced modeling capability. The population of the fields is evolved till the synthesized fields become sufficiently similar. Applications of the optimal field synthesis to synthetic cases indicate that the objective functions of the fields assessing the modeling capabilities are further reduced after the optimal field synthesis. The identified fields from various inverse techniques may yield a range of modeling results under varied flow situations. The uncertainty is narrowed down through the optimal field synthesis and the associated modeling results converge on that of the reference field. The developed inverse modeling facilitates the construction of a reliable simulation model and hence trustworthy predictions of the future performances.

  • This study is aimed at suggesting ways to develop field trip or learning materials focusing on environment of Jeju seashore in order to make an effective field trip. To perform these purposes, the contents and concepts were analyzed from environment-related 'geological unit' of elementary science textbook. Afterwards, the places having the geological features in coincidence with them are chosen, and investigated, and these regions can develop into geological teaming places for field trip. Each teaming spot focuses on understanding and finding out the characteristic geological environment of rock shore, gravel shore, sand shore, shellfish shore, and tideland shore among Jeju shores. When field trip is conducted at the preparatory stage, students can get advance knowledge on geological concepts from textbook. The activity record paper is presented at the field trip stage where students observe geological phenomena on their own. After field trip is finished, the summary stage is given to solve some problems on the basis of the observed contents. The developed data from this research have its regional limits, but is surely useful for teachers who try to plan field trip when they especially choose the right field trip spots, or plan to make the process for field trip preparation of the environmental education. Furthermore, with this survey and activities, students can take the chance to improve the learning effect through their own experience on environment of Jeju seashore.

  • Multiplication in finite fields is used in many applications, especially in cryptography. It is a basic and the most computationally intensive operation from among all such operations. Several systolic multipliers are proposed in the literature that offer low hardware complexity or high speed. In this paper, a bit-parallel polynomial basis systolic multiplier for generic irreducible polynomials is proposed based on a modified interleaved multiplication method. The hardware complexity and delay of the proposed multiplier are estimated, and a comparison with the corresponding multipliers available in the literature is presented. Of the corresponding multipliers, the proposed multiplier achieves a reduction in the hardware complexity of up to 20% when compared to the best multiplier for m = 163. The synthesis results of application-specific integrated circuit and field-programmable gate array implementations of the proposed multiplier are also presented. From the synthesis results, it is inferred that the proposed multiplier achieves low power consumption and low area complexitywhen compared to the best of the corresponding multipliers.

  • The PVDF fibrous composite filled with iron oxide nanoparticles were prepared by using the electrospinning technique. The electrospun composite have the thickness in the range of $60-80{\mu}m$ with the average fibrous diameters of 500-900 nm. The magnetizations of PVDF fibrous composite filled with iron oxide nanoparticles showed 4.5 emu/g, 3.1 emu/g and 1.6 emu/g at 1.5 T of external magnetic field for 20 wt.%, 10 wt.% and 5 wt.% iron oxide nanoparticles, respectively. The heat elevation of the magnetic composite were measured under various AC magnetic fields, frequency and the ambient temperatures. The temperature reached up to $46.3^{\circ}C$ from $36^{\circ}C$ at 128 Oe and 355 kHz for 20 wt.% iron oxide nanoparticles filled in PVDF fibrous composite sheet. The specific absorption rate of theses sheets increased from 0.041 W/g to 0.236 W/g with the increment of AC magnetic field from 90 Oe to 167 Oe at 190 kHz, respectively.

  • For the purpose of designing more successful cancer research, the strategy for cancer study in the field of Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM) during the 21th century was examined from the analysis of trends on cancer study in traditional korean medicine. The results were summarized as follows: 1. So far cancer research in TKM was chiefly done on cytotoxicity, side-effects by chemotherapy, tumor immunology, apoptosis, survival time with S-180 and pulmonary colonization assay and also clonogenic assay, cell adhesion assay, angiogenesis, cell-differentiation and side-effect by radiotherapy were partly performed. 2. It may be ideal that we should study synergistic effect between constituent drugs of prescriptions, tumor immunology, combined therapy between western and oriental medicines by reducing side-effect by radiotherapy and chemotherapy and antimetastasis according to the characteristics of oriental medicine chiefly and also supplement the studies on molecular biology, gene therapy, angiogensis and signal transduction. 3. We had better do specific-field research in cooperation between oriental medical colleges and Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine(KIOM) as well as study a target cancers such as hepatic cancer, pulmonary cancer and gastric cancer more intensively than all cancers domestically. 4. Our country must keep communication with China having many clinical data, Taiwan chiefly doing the combined tharapy between oriental and western medicines, Japan having done basic study actively on cancer.

  • Objectives: This study suggests the application of philosophical counseling in the clinical field of Korean medicine and analyze the specific case. Methods: Through the analysis of coexisting factors of Korean medicine and philosophical counseling, we establish the area of philosophical counseling that Korean medicine practitioner can apply in the medical field. We described effects of philosophical counseling on the patient's symptom and the progress after discharge through a counseling approach based on philosophical questions. Results: During philosophical counseling, the Korean medical doctor asks questions about the nature of suffering and encourages patients to gain insight into their problems. In answering the vital philosophical questions, the patient leads to a creative interpretation of future life directions. We described the method of specific approaches through the description of the two cases. Conclusions: The philosophical counseling is compatible with the concept of Korean medicine, therefore, a Korean medicine practitioner can induce the recovery of mind and body through the creative interpretation of the patient by asking the patient the appropriate question which causes reflective thinking.
