  • This study tries to provide the basic direction to form the arboretum with the distinct features by providing the basic data to help the differentiated strategy for each arboretum. For this purpose, the users' pattern, importance of the indicator by the function, and the stimulation and specialization importance were examined for Daegu Arboretum, Gyeongbuk Arboretum and Gyeongnam Arboretum in Gyeongsang Province. The result says, looking into the functions of arboretum, the collection function showed the highest importance in the preservation of the endangered crisis species; the display function showed the highest in the use as the nature experiencing spaces through the plant exhibition; the research function showed the highest in the study on Plant Systematics; the education function showed the highest in the protection of the native plants; and the recreational function showed the highest in the healthy recreational space. In the plan for the promotion of the arboretum showed the highest in the public education program operation such as the narration from arboretum and education for plant. Therefore, it is considered to need the system setup such as the education program, material development and specialist training in terms of the arboretum. For the specialization plan for arboretum in this study, it seem desirable to concentrate on the research and education related to the natural resources renewal, for Daegu Arboretum; to concentrate on the resort site for the protection and display of the species and the disabled visitors by utilizing the geographical traits in the mountains, for Gyeongbuk Arboretum; to create the specialization plan mainly for the tree species suitable for the warm weather and for the children.

  • This study collects social big data used in various fields in the past 9 years and explains the patterns of major keywords of the arboretums and botanical gardens to use as the basic data to establish operational strategies for future arboretums and botanical gardens. A total of 6,245,278 cases of data were collected: 4,250,583 from blogs (68.1%), 1,843,677 from online cafes (29.5%), and 151,018 from knowledge search engine (2.4%). As a result of refining valid data, 1,223,162 cases were selected for analysis. We came up with keywords through big data, and used big data program Textom to derive keywords of arboretums and botanical gardens using text mining analysis. As a result, we identified keywords such as 'travel', 'picnic', 'children', 'festival', 'experience', 'Garden of Morning Calm', 'program', 'recreation forest', 'healing', and 'museum'. As a result of keyword analysis, we found that keywords such as 'healing', 'tree', 'experience', 'garden', and 'Garden of Morning Calm' received high public interest. We conducted word cloud analysis by extracting keywords with high frequency in total 6,245,278 titles on social media. The results showed that arboretums and botanical gardens were perceived as spaces for relaxation and leisure such as 'travel', 'picnic' and 'recreation', and that people had high interest in educational aspects with keywords such as 'experience' and 'field trip'. The demand for rest and leisure space, education, and things to see and enjoy in arboretums and botanical gardens increased than in the past. Therefore, there must be differentiation and specialization strategies such as plant collection strategies, exhibition planning and programs in establishing future operation strategies.

  • For 20 taxa of Korean Allium, including 16 species and 5 varieties, examined were morphological characters (i.e. sexuality, structure and shape of underground part, types and growing patterns of leaf and scape, and shapes of perianth, filament and pistil). The specialization and the evolutionary trends of taxonomic characters were inferred from morphological examination. Taxonomic relationships and system of Korean Allium were also studied. The characters showing evolutionary trends were the structure and shape of underground part including rhizome and bulb, leaf, scape, inflorescens, filament and ovary. It seemed that thin and short rhizome developed from thick and long one, and the membranous simple bulb tunic evolved into fibrous reticulate one. The presence of hyaline sheath in A. monanthum of sect. Microscordum was apomorphic. Both angular leaf blade with 2-rowed vascular bundle and flat blade with 1-rowed vascular bundle were developed from terete one with 2-rowed vascular bundle. The base of filament have differentiated from entire to toothed, and 2-ovuled ovary as well as erect scape before flowering was plesiomorphic type. In addition, sexuality, structure of underground part, the presence of hyaline sheath and cross-section structure of leaf were taxonomic characters with the level of the subgenus in this genus. Shape of rhizome, bulb, leaf, scape and pedicel discriminated each section from other ones in the subgenera easily. The shape and arrangement of perianth and filaments were the diagnostic characters for species level along with shape of ovary and stigma.
