This study tried to investigate whether characteristics of the perceiver and image of ideal woman made differences in the important factors for the selection clothing and the preference of clothing. A poll of 650 men & women between the ages of 20-39 living in Daegu was taken for this study. Factor analysis, cluster analysis, frequency, ANOVA-test, t-test, and $\chi$$^2$-test were implemented with the SPSS-package. The characteristics of clothing types used in this study included: sexy, masculine, feminine, dramatic, elegant-classic, and casual. The results were as follows. 1. In the situation of first impression formation, the characteristics of the perceiver made differences in the selection of clothing types. Women took self-satisfaction and fashion factors to be more important than men, so did persons in their 20s than 30s. And the unmarried took self-satisfaction factor to be more important than the married. 2. Men and women had different images of the ideal woman. Under special situations of first impression formation, such as, formal blind dates on the condition of marriage and casual blind dates, there were differences in clothing preference.
The purpose of my study is to provide some information on clothing for the handicapped with special needs. So I have designed clothes for the handicapped to provide some solutions for their clothing problems. These clothing designs for crutch and wheelchair users were based on solutions proposed by many researchers. The number of handicapped has been increasing gradually for years, especially the physically handicapped. Although they make use of many instruments for ease of movements and other physical conditions, most of the handicapped generally use crutches and wheelchairs. So I designed clothing for the crutch and wheelchair users. In order to ease problems in dressing and undressing, when using the crutch and wheelchair, various physical attributes of clothing should be considered: (1) Selection of fabric, (2) construction and location of the opening, (3) type and location of fastenings, and (4) design of garments for comfort and ease of movement. Clothing should also be able to satisfy psychological needs related to attractive appearance. My designs have proposed seven items of clothing. These include a cape-coat, over-blouse, one-piece dress and an pants for the crutch users. Also, a shirts, pants, and wheelchair wrap for wheelchair users will be displayed.

I The Purpose of this study is to look in to the production of high-functional clothing industry, such as item, style, layout, labor, suggest some effective solutions and alternatives for them. 23124554 For this purpose, the companies specialized in manufacturing of special high-functional clothings were sampled for a survey using interview and a questionnaire. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; It was found that since demands for high-functional apparels are low and their sewing processes are much complicated requiring expensive equipments, only a few companies are engaged in such apparels. In addition, since the quantity of order s small and material inputs are more frequently changed, the sewing processes on the production line need to be changed together with the production layouts. On the other hand, as the materials used are very special, expensive equipments should be used, for which the companies feel much burdensome financially. Accordingly, t is deemed necessary for the high-functional apparel manufactures to specialize the processes requiring specialized equipments or outsource some of them or recruit highly-skilled workers.
In this study, we attempted to make an original pattern of clothing for an abnormal type of figure, especially for the type of kyphosis. We measured the curvature of the spine of a woman with kyphosis with a Martin measuring instrument and a silhouetter in the following ways. First, we counted the rate of shrinkage of the standard lines drawn on the surface of the body according as the body moved. Secondly, placing the front and back darts, the front and back shoulder darts and the side darts according to“Munhwa”pattern, we made cubic cuttings of four moving postures as well as the standing one. Thirdly, we superposed the developed patterns of the standing and the moving postures, measuring the position change and the amount of the chaange of the darts, and compared them. The results are as follows: 1) In the developed pattern of a cubic cutting of the basic pattern and the standing posture, the neckhole became larger than that of the basic pattern, and the waist line was lowered than that of the basic pattern because the center back line was shortened due to the curved backbone. 2) As for the change of the standard line according to the movement, we found that the waist line, the center front line, the center back line, the bust width line, the upper back width line and the back width line became longer. Special consideration must be given to the function of the clothing for an abnormal type of figure. 3) The difference of the measurements between the cubic cutting and the body measurement regardless of the body movement is due to a gap by an acute angle at the jutted place between the developed pattern and the body surface. We found that the body measurement of the upper back width line, the back width line and the bust line became larger. Consequently, in making an original clothing pattern, it is desirable that we must not place the front and the back waist darts at the jutted place on the back from the functional and the aesthetic viewpoint of clothing. It is also desirable that we must widen the neckhole because the shoulder angle is close to a straight line due to a jut of the upper back width line.
Culture means a lifestyle realizing a definite object or ideal. Each local special culture is enormous in value as a local culture inheritance. If it is developed a local culture products representing local culture, it can perform an important role on one of the strategies for revitalizing local economy. One of the typical cultures in Kyung-Nam is the Gaya culture. The most characteristic of the Gaya culture is powerful iron culture and lots of cultural properties have been founding as relics. Judging from a lot of iron relics, we can figure out a high level of iron manufacturing technology. I studied focussing on the plasticity of Gaya relics and collected base materials for developing local cultural goods, using the motif of Gaya culture with excellent aesthetic consciousness. I classfied Gaya relics into a crown style, jewelry, harnessry, weapons, armor, earthenware, and considered its characteristic of the plastic arts, based on the preceding studies and document data. There exists natural, moderate, polished, indigenous, simple, rhythmical, delicate, florid, technical, symbolical, strong, diverse, naive beauty in the plastic characteristic of Gaya relics. Gaya culture with the special excellence of aesthetic resources, is worthy enough to be recreated as local cultural goods. Variable and special cultural fashion-products with the distinctive feature of Gaya culture need to be developed without delay.
The purpose of this study is to examine the university students' awareness and attitudes on functional clothing materials, and to explore the effects of subjects' characteristics on the relationship between their attitudes to and images of the functional clothing materials. A total of 500 questionnaires were distributed to university students and 409 of which were used in data analysis. The data were statistically analyzed by frequency, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, t-test, ANOVA. The results were as follows: students thought that the first and foremost 'function' of functional clothing materials is their light-weight. The functions that consumers practically demanded are water-repellency and high absorbency & quick drying. It showed that students have an image that functional clothing materials have special, good and satisfactory qualities. Goretex and Coolmax were the most selected as brands of functional clothing materials which students knew. Attitudes to functional clothing materials revealed positively in the cognitive, behavioral and affectional attitudes. The attitudes had no significant differences according to sex and their major, but they had significant differences by subjects' amount of allowance, frequency of sports participation and sports ability. In other words, the more amount of allowance they get, the more frequently students do exercise, and the higher sports ability they have, the more positive attitude they have. The study says, in conclusion, that their conception of functional clothing materials has positive relations with their attitudes toward them.
The purpose of this study was to analyse on the clothing practice of automaker's uniform and to investigate the relationship between wearing sense of worker's uniform and overall comfort according to working environment and working types. The data were collected from 184 automakers using questionnaire and interview of a officer for uniform management. Working environment was relatively comfortable, but the worker in special working area needed to control the working environment and adopted the protective equipment. The dissatisfaction of clothing practice of uniform was shown high in design and material. The order of preference in the color was blue, navy, blue, gray, green. In case of taking care of uniform, sewing durability and shape stability were poor in comparison with washing easiness. The correlation between overall comfort and wearing sense of uniform as sense of wearing and taking off, texture and movement function, was relatively high, but it appeared the low correlation in physiological comfort.
The hair and headdress, positioned on the top of the body, assume a special role of accomplishing the silhouette of the clothing. This thesis reviewed the change of the hair and headdresses of the ancient Western world and studied the relationship between the silhouettes of the dresses and the shapes of the hairstyles. It was concluded that the hairstyles of each region had been developed in accordance, with their dress silhouettes, either repeating the silhouettes in a smaller scale, or reflecting their aesthetic attitudes toward clothing in the hairstyles. Religious symbolism was displayed strongly. In the headdresses of the cultures where the religious influence was great.
The purpose of this study was, accordingly, to examine male college student's general body consciousness and their actual condition of wearing clothing, as it's assumed that clothing, which everyone must always wear, might be effective in making up for the physical defect. The findings of this study were as follows : 1. Male College Students'Body Consciousness : They expressed some dissatisfaction with their own body, and they were most discontented with their height, among their bodies. They thought of the western-style shape as an ideal one, as what's considered by them to be ideal was thinner a little than them, being taller with wider shoulder, longer legs, smaller and white face. 2. Male College Students'Characteristics of Clothing Purchasing Behavior : In purchasing clothing, male college students were slightly sensitive about the physical part with which they wasn't satisfied. The clothing pattern preferred by them was an abstract one, and their favorite color was white or black. The greatest number of them put most emphasis on design in buying clothing, and they purchased clothing mainly at special fashion shop. On the whole, they showed an affirmative response toward wearing Korean costume, and they also had a positive opinion about the purchase of reformed Korean dress for everyday life. 3. Male College Students'Characteristics of Wearing Clothing : They appeared not to consider making up for physical weakness. Male college students favored aloha shirt and trousers when they went out. Male college students purchase clothing in consideration of individual, manly, classical, tender, or comfortable factors. 4. Relationship of Body Consciousness to Wearing Behavior : The degree to which they considered covering up physical weakness in wearing clothing was examined, by dividing them into two groups : one was a group that thought their own shape normal, and the other was a group that didn't think of their own shape as normal. As a result, both groups appeared not to consider covering up physical weakness.

The purpose of this study was to provide effective design strategy and distinguish productions for the consumer's emotion satisfaction by analyzing formative properties of fashion sensibility and emotion. 54 photos of contemporary costume have been selected which represented the Izard' DES. The questionnaire consisted of bi-polar 25 pairs adjective scale of fashion sensibility and the 18 noun scale of emotion was distributed to 970 male and female living in Pusan area. The data were analyzed by GLM using the statistic SPSS package. The major findings of this research were as follows. 1. In the clothing formative properties following fashion sensibilities, aestheticism shows significant differences in the silhouette and texture, maturity in the silhouette and color, character in the texture and decoration and feminity in the pattern and color. 2. In the clothing formative properties following emotions, negative emotion shows significant differences in the pattern and silhouette, distressㆍfear in the silhouette and pattern, arousal in the texture and color, shame in the color and texture and enjoyment in the silhouette and pattern. 3. In the fashion sensibility and emotion following clothing formative properties, each formative property shows differences in fashion sensibility and emotion. This study result will be utilized in the clothing design development in special usage like theatrical costume, discriminated display and advertisement stratge.
