  • Usually, spatial information can be incorporated into histograms by taking histograms of a multiresolution image. For these reasons, many researchers are interested in multiresolution histogram processing. If the relation and sensitivity of the multiresolution images are well combined without loss of information, we can obtain satisfactory results in several fields of image processing including histogram equalization, specification and pattern matching. In this paper, we propose a multiresolution histogram specification method that improves the accuracy of histogram specification. The multiresolution decomposition technique is used in order to overcome the unique feature of a histogram specification affected by a quantization error of a digitalized image. The histogram specification is processed after the reduction of image resolution in order to enhance the accuracy of the results by histogram specification methods. The experimental results show that the proposed method enhances the accuracy of specification compared to conventional methods.

  • Recently, loosely-coupled systems are widely used for distributed computing environment. We develop a web GIS server who conforms to the international standards developed by the Open GIS Consortium (OGC), such as web feature service (WFS) implementation specification, Geography Markup Language (GML) implementation specification, and the simple features specification for OLE/COM. The web GIS server provides interoperable access of spatial data among data formats in the distributed environment.

  • European Space Agency has recognized Integrated Modular Avionics and ARINC specification 653 as avionics computer system for space application. Integrated Modular Avionics specification reduces the space by integrating a system composed of many electronic devices into a computer. recent researches have been studying how to apply the ARINC 653 into an open source operating system, such as Linux. These studies have concentrated on partition scheduling for time separation. However, requirements to guarantee spatial separation should be further analyzed to ensure deterministic execution time. Therefore, memory management is needed to verify spatial isolation on Linux systems. This research proposes a new method to accomplish spatial isolation for the ARINC 653 specification in Linux. We have added new data structures and system calls to handle functionalities for spatial separation. They are used during the partition startup process. The proposed method was evaluated on the LEON4 processor, which is the next generation microprocessor to be used in the future space missions. All implementations confirm that spatial isolation of the ARINC 653 specification was accomplished.

  • In this paper, we implement the multimedia dynamic authoring system based on causality model. we define two specifications which support user to specify intuitively and naturally what he/she wants, The temporal specification describes causal-based temporal relationships between presentation objects, and the spatial specification describes relative layout structure among objects on the screen. Using the specifications, the system processes for multimedia documentation are one-dimensional string list, relational trees, such as temporal. spatial, and annotated composition tree generation phases.

  • OGC(Open GIS Consortium) suggests the 'OpenGIS Simple Feature Specification for CORBA' which is the OpenGIS implementation specification for CORBA to specify standard interfaces for reuse and interoperation among distributed heterogeneous GIS resources in the CORBA distributed computing environment. An OpenGIS server that supports this implementation specification moat correctly implement all interfaces defined in the OpenGIS implementation specification to be interoperable with wrapped GISs efficiently. In this paper, we have designed and implemented an OpenGIS server based an object relational GIS, called GEUS that integrates GIS and database technologies to provide spatial data types and spatial operators from the DBMS engine level. In the CORBA distributed computing environment, clients can access geospatial data stored in GIS wrapped by the OpenGIS server through the standard interfaces defined in the OpenGIS implementation specification for CORBA. In addition, clients can use geospatial operation features provided by a back-end GIS and interoperate with other GISs.

  • Recently, with the development of collecting methods of spatial data, the spatial data is produced, circulated, and used in various fields of industry and research. To manage the mass spatial data efficiently, the researches on extension of the existing commercial DBMS, such as ESRI's ArcSDE or Oracle's Oracle Spatial, is making progress actively. However, the usage of the extension of the commercial DBMS Incurs an additional expense and causes an interoperability problem due to differences in spatial data types and spatial operators. Therefore, in this paper, we developed an OpenGIS Spatial Interface for Oracle, which supports a standard interface by fellowing the "Simple Features Specification for SQL" proposed by OGC(Open Geospatial Consortium). Since the OpenGIS Spatial Interface provides all spatial data types and spatial operators proposed in "Simple Features Specification for SQL", users can manage mass spatial data of Oracle efficiently by using the standard interface without additional expense. In addition, we proved that the OpenGIS Spatial Interface is superior to the Oracle Spatial in the response time through the performance evaluation.

  • There are a number of formal methods for distributed real-time systems in ubiquitous computing to analyze and verify the behavioral, temporal and the spatial properties of the systems. However most of the methods reveal structural and fundamental limitations of complexity due to mixture of spatial and behavioral representations. Further temporal specification makes the complexity more complicate. In order to overcome the limitations, this paper presents a new formal method, called Timed Calculus of Abstract Real-Time Distribution, Mobility and Interaction(t-CARDMI). t-CARDMI separates spatial representation from behavioral representation to simplify the complexity. Further temporal specification is permitted only in the behavioral representation to make the complexity less complicate. The distinctive features of the temporal properties in t-CARDMI include waiting time, execution time, deadline, timeout action, periodic action, etc. both in movement and interaction behaviors. For analysis and verification of spatial and temporal properties of the systems in specification, t-CARDMI presents Timed Action Graph (TAG), where the spatial and temporal properties are visually represented in a two-dimensional diagram with the pictorial distribution of movements and interactions. t-CARDMI can be considered to be one of the most innovative formal methods in distributed real-time systems in ubiquitous computing to specify, analyze and verify the spatial, behavioral and the temporal properties of the systems very efficiently and effectively. The paper presents the formal syntax and semantics of t-CARDMI with a tool, called SAVE, for a ubiquitous healthcare application.

  • The histogram specification is to change the histogram shape of the image into the already defined shape. This technique can be applied usefully in various image processing fields which include a machine vision. However, the histogram specification technique has its basic limits. For example, the histogram does not have location information of pixel within the image and receives the digital image, which is stored through a quantization process, as an input. Namely, the accuracy of specification falls in the high-resolution image because the larger the resolution of image is becoming, the more the pixels having similar value are becoming. Therefore, we proposed the multiresolution histogram specification method for improving the accuracy of specification. Consequently, we can know that if the histogram specification is accomplished by using the proposed algorithm, destination image and source image were changed almost similarly.

  • Three-dimensional GIS, which provides spatial information through expression techniques of virtual reality close to the real world and the web, is one of the fields that attract a new attention. In particular, Open GIS Consortium(OGC) announced a topological relationship specification of spatial object which supports interoperability while interest in interoperability of spatial data is increasing. However, this specification is limited to two-dimensional spatial object. So this research established a topological relationship of three-dimensional spatial object in order to improve urban landscape and provide a foundation to use GIS. Based on this, this study proposes ways to visualize landscape information which is appropriate for new town's circumstances. It can be concluded that this research has a bigger meaning since it established a base of sharing information about realistic urban landscape that can be accessed regardless of place and time.
