A Study on the Legal Regulations and Design Guidelines on Child Care Centers for Children with Disability - A Comparison with Korea, U.S.A. and Australia - (장애아 보육시설의 물리적 환경에 대한 법적기준 및 문헌 연구 - 한국, 미국, 호주를 중심으로 -)

  • A study on child care centers has been developed with a focus on normal children. Also the child care centers which take care of children with disability are rare. In Seoul, Korea, only 2% of children with disability are taken care of in childcare centers. And even the disabled children at the child care centers are mostly mentally or emotionally disabled because the building, programs and services of the centers are restrictive to the children with severe physical disabilities. In Korea, it is not yet an obligation for child care centers to adopt Disability Accessibility Guidelines to make facilities accessible by the disabled. Also, Korea does not have specific design guidelines or legal standards. This study aims to review the domestic and foreign legal standards and design guidelines which are applicable to child care centers for children with disability through a reference review. Korean legal standards, and US's ABA and ADAAG were analyzed. Two representative references such as "Creating Inclusive Child Care Facilities" published in US and "Design for access and mobility requirement for Children and Adolescents with Physical Disabilities" published in Australia were reviewed. As a result, we categorized the guidelines according to contents such as locations, areas, space organizations, nursing spaces, sanitary spaces, and doors and corridors. The goal of this study is to provide the basic information to develop domestic design guidelines to ensure that the child care centers are welcoming and usable for everyone possible.

A Memory-based Reasoning Algorithm using Adaptive Recursive Partition Averaging Method (적응형 재귀 분할 평균법을 이용한 메모리기반 추론 알고리즘)

  • We had proposed the RPA(Recursive Partition Averaging) method in order to improve the storage requirement and classification rate of the Memory Based Reasoning. That algorithm worked not bad in many area, however, the major drawbacks of RPA are it's partitioning condition and the way of extracting major patterns. We propose an adaptive RPA algorithm which uses the FPD(feature-based population densimeter) to stop the ARPA partitioning process and produce, instead of RPA's averaged major pattern, optimizing resulting hyperrectangles. The proposed algorithm required only approximately 40% of memory space that is needed in k-NN classifier, and showed a superior classification performance to the RPA. Also, by reducing the number of stored patterns, it showed an excellent results in terms of classification when we compare it to the k-NN.

  • Model checking is a formal verification technique which checks the consistency between a requirement specification and a behavior model of the system by explorating the state space of the model. We apply model checking to the formal verification of the concurrent object-oriented system, using an existing model checker SPIN which has been successful in verifying concurrent systems. First, we propose an Actor-based modeling language, called APromela, by extending the modeling language Promela which is a modeling language supported in SPIN. APromela supports not only all the primitives of Promela, but additional primitives needed to model concurrent object-oriented systems, such as class definition, object instantiation, message send, and synchronization.Second, we provide translation rules for mapping APromela's such modeling primitives to Promela's. As an application of APromela, we suggest a verification method for UML models. By giving an example of specification, translation, and verification, we also demonstrate the applicability of our proposed approach, and discuss the limitations and further research issues.

Pathological observations on diseased cockerels in rural areas of Bangladesh

  • The poultry farmers of rural area in Bangladesh usually prefer raising cockerel to broiler due to availability, low price of chicks, requirement of less space and feed, and high price of meat and the farmers believe that the cockerels are less susceptible to diseases in comparison to broilers. This study was carried out to observe the pathology of diseased cockerel in 3 farms of rural area in Bangladesh. A total of 974 birds were examined and the diagnoses of different disease/conditions were based on the history, clinical signs, characteristic gross, tissue alterations, clinical pathology and isolation and identification of the pathogenic organisms. The diseases in this study included infectious bursal disease, yolk sac infection, vitamin E deficiency, coccidiosis, and other diseases. The proportionate mortality rate were $7.29\%,\;0.62\%,\;0.72\%,\;0.21\%\;and\;0.10\%$, respectively, which indicated that most of the fatal causes of death were due to infectious bursal disease. Age group of 2-8 week old were the most susceptible to this disease and E coli was suggested as a cause of yolk sac infection. The data also suggested that the coccidiosis in rural areas of Bangladesh has decreased due to awareness of the farmers and routine use of coccidiostates.

Design of a Micro-perforated Panel Absorber at High Incident Sound Pressure (높은 입사 음압에서의 미세 천공판을 이용한 흡음 기구의 설계)

  • Reduction of acoustic loads of space launch vehicles can be achieved by acoustic absorbers satisfying strict cleanness requirements. This limited the use of general porous materials and requires non-porous sound absorbers. Micro-perforated panel absorbers(MPPA) is one of promising sound absorbers satisfying the cleanness requirement for launch vehicles. However, its applicability was limited to low sound pressure levels according to the acoustic impedance model of micro-perforated panels. In this paper the applicability of micro-perforated panel absorbers at high incident sound pressure was investigated in experimental ways. The absorption characteristics of a micro-perforated panel absorber was simulated according to its design variables, e.g., minute hole diameters and aperture ratios. It was shown that optimal design can be readily done by using proposed design charts. Experiments were conducted to measure acoustic properties of the designed micro-perforated panel absorbers. The results showed that acoustic resistance increases rapidly as incident sound pressure level does but change of acoustic reactance can be neglected in a practical point of view. This caused the decrease of peak value of absorption coefficient at high incident sound pressure level, but the amount of reduction can be accepted in practice. The major advantage of the micro-perforated panel absorber(wide absorption bandwidth) was still kept at high sound pressure level.

  • This paper is a study on the modeling of the quantity estimation model for offshore plant Material handling equipment in FEED(Front End Engineering Design) verification stage using system engineering approach which is an engineering design methods. The relevant engineering execution procedure is not systemized although the operation method and Material handling equipment selection with weight and space constraints is a key part of the FEED. Using the system engineering process, the stakeholder requirements analysis process, the system requirements analysis, and the final system architecture design were sequentially performed, and the process developed through the functional development diagram and Requirement traceability matrix (RTM) was verified. In addition, based on the established process, we propose a Material handling quantity estimation model and Quantity calculation verification Table that can be applied at the FEED verification stage and we verify the applicability through case studies.

  • This paper designs and Implements a connectivity analyzer for the hybrid vehicular network based on the real-life movement history data achieved from the Taxi telematics system currently in operation, aiming at providing a useful guideline and information to build a telematics network. The simulator traces the location of each vehicle, sets the vehicle type, either gateway or normal, decides whether it can be connected to a mobile gateway, keeps track of status of the vehicle, and calculates the duration of disconnected state. With this analysis considering the transmission range and gateway ratio, we can decide the cost-effective number of mobile gateways having both cellular and ad-hoc network interfaces, and buffer space requirement based on the measured disconnection time and message generation ratio.

  • Flash memory is widely used as a storage medium for mobile devices such as cell phones, MP3 players, PDA's due to its tiny size, low power consumption and shock resistant characteristics. Additionally, some computer manufacturers try to replace hard-disk drives used in Laptops or personal computers with flash memory. More recently, there are some literatures on developing a flash memory-aware $B^+$-tree index for an efficient key-based search in the flash memory storage system. They focus on minimizing the number of "overwrites" resulting from inserting or deleting a sequence of key values to/from the $B^+$-tree. However, in addition to this factor, the size of a physical page allocated to a node can affect the maintenance cost of the $B^+$-tree. In this paper, with diverse experiments, we compare and analyze the costs of construction and search of the $B^+$-tree and the space requirement on flash memory as the node size increases. We also provide sorting-based or non-sorting-based algorithms to be used when inserting a key value into the node and suggest an header structure of the index node for searching a given key inside it efficiently.

  • The thermistors and AD590 are widely used for temperature measurement in space application. The resistance of thermistor will vary according to the temperature variation therefore the external voltage or current stimulus signal have to be provided to measure resistance variation. Recently high resolution electro optic camera system of satellite requires tight thermal control of the camera structure to minimize the thermal structural distortion which can affects the image quality. In order to achieve $1^{\circ}$(deg C) thermal control requirement, the accuracy of temperature measurement have to be higher than $0.3^{\circ}$(deg C). In this paper, the accuracy of temperature measurement using thermistors is estimated and analyzed.

  • Hydrogen peroxide(HP) and liquid methane have deserved renewed considerations as green propellants in recent years, because main design concerns in the development of the new generation propulsion system for spacecrafts are concentrated on low operation cost and environmental cleanness. Although HP has a long history of application to aerospace propulsion systems due to high density, mono-propellant characteristics and low toxicity, it had been replaced by hydrazine and liquid oxygen due to extreme performance requirement during the cold war. But HP has received a renewed interest due to its increased stability and many researches have been conducted to develop high performance LREs(Liquid Rocket Engines) using HP. Liquid methane has also received a new interest in rocket propulsion system for the future space exploration according to its possibility of ISRU(In-Situ Resource Utilization).
