This paper presents a finite element approach for determining the natural frequencies for planar inclined arches of various shapes vibrating in three-dimensional space. The profile of inclined arches, represented by undeformed centriodal axis of cross-section, is defined by the equation of plane curves expressed in the rectangular coordinates which are : circular, parabolic, sine, elliptic, and catenary shapes. In free vibration state, the arch is slightly displaced from its undeformed position. The linear relationship between curvature-torsion and axial strain is expressed in terms of the displacements in three-dimensional space. The finite element discretization along the span length is used rather than the total are length. Numerical results for arches of various shapes are given and they are in good agreement with those reported in literature. The natural frequency parameters and mode shapes are reported as functions of two nondimensional parameters: the span to cord length ratio (e) and the rise to cord length ratio (f).
High resolution $^{12}CO$ observations of the region containing the planetary nebula Hb12 were made with the Nobeyama Radio Telescope. These observations reveal that there is no significant CO emission from Hb 12 itself. Near Hb 12, however, the observed regions show a structure of clustered dark clouds whose physical parameters suggest that these clumps would be further fragmented or collapesed. Also found with the high resolution observations is that a few isolated clumps are located away from the main CO feature extended possibly from the galactic plane. For more detail morphologies and velocity structures of the clumps, especially in relation to the large CO complex to which these are likely to be associated, more observations are substantiated.

The objective of this study is the development of a size and shape discrete optimum design algorithms, which is based on the genetic algorithms and the fuzzy theory. This algorithms can perform both size and shape optimum designs of plane and space trusses. The developed fuzzy shape-GAs (FS-GAs) was implemented in a computer program. For the optimum design, the objective function is the weight of structures and the constraints are limits on loads and serviceability. This study solves the problem by introducing the FS-GAs operators into the genetic.

A complete analysis of the color-viewing-angle properties of different displays is presented herein using color-viewing-angle measurements made with a Fourier-optics system. The color gamut in the CIE u'v' chromatic plane was computed for all the viewing angles. The introduction of the lightness using the $L^*a^*b^*$ color space allowed a more precise analysis of the emissive properties of each display. The displays can be directly compared using a common reference. The viewing-angle dependence can be analyzed in full detail using the on-axis values as reference. The gravity center behavior and area of the color hull were computed for a more precise evaluation and comparison.
[Purpose] Recently, skyscrapers have sharply increased throughout the world, including South Korea. Although a skyscraper has its own merit such as the landmark of a city, it also has various problems like massive energy consumption. This study is aimed to establish the concept of environment-friendly skyscraper and propose a plan to realize skyscraper after analyzing the architectural, facility and environmental friendly elements of skyscrapers. [Method] This study lists up skyscrapers over 40 floors and 200 meters high. Upon 10 constructed buildings, it analyzes their basic plans and the green building technologies applied to them and suggests effective and environment-friendly architectural plan. [Result] This study examined the distinctions of the layout, shape, facade, and floor plan plane of 10 skyscrapers and found out specific techniques to be used for the use plan of natural energy, plan for saving resources and reducing wastes and a plan for environmental architecture and system.
In the present paper we consider an abstract partial dif-ferential equation of the form $\frac{\partial^2u}{{\partial}t^2}-\frac{\partial^2u}{{\partial}x^2}+A(x.t)u=f(x, t)$, where ${A(x, t):(x, t){\epsilon}\bar{G} }$ is a family of linear closed operators and $G=GU{\partial}G$, G is a suitable bounded region in the (x, t)-plane with bound-are ${\partial}G$. It is assumed that u is given on the boundary ${\partial}G$. The objective of this paper is to study the considered Dirichlet problem for a wide class of operators $A(x, t)$. A Dirichlet problem for non-elliptic partial differential equations of higher orders is also considerde.

This study proposes a new interactive multicriteria method for determining the best levels of the decision variables needed to optimize a stochastic computer simulation with multiple response variables. The method, called the Pairwise Comparison Stochastic Cutting Plane (PCSCP) method, combines good features from interactive multiple objective mathematical programming methods and response surface methodology. The major characteristics of the PCSCP algorithm are: (1) it interacts progressively with the decision maker (DM) to obtain his preferences, (2) it uses good experimental design to adequately explore the decision space while reducing the burden on the DM, and (3) it uses the preference information provided by the DM and the sampling error in the responses to reduce the decision space. This paper presents the basic concepts of the PCSCP method along with its performance for solving randomly selected test problems.
We use three-dimensional hydrodynamic simulations to investigate the characteristics of turbulence driven in rotating, vertically-stratified disk. Our models are isothermal, and local in the in-plane direction while global in the vertical direction. We allow localized regions with density larger than the threshold value to explode and inject kinetic energy to the surrounding medium in the real space rather than Fourier space, mimicking supernova explosions thought to be the dominant turbulence source. This work extends our previous study where we studied turbulence in a non-rotating, uniform environment. We find that the galaxy rotation does not make a significant difference in the turbulence level at saturation, since the associated shear velocity is much smaller than the explosion velocity. We analyze the properties of turbulence in our models and compare them with those from the uniform-density models. We also discuss the astrophysical implication of our findings.
As an upgrade we report the current ASTE ultra-wideband corrugated horn design. The length of the feedhorn gets shortened from 12.5 mm to 11 mm, and it shows better side lobe level at the far-field patterns compared with the previous design. We looked into possible quasi-optical solution to match the feedhorn beam to the optics of the current ASTE telescope, starting from frequency-independent solution using two ellipsoidal mirrors to which wideband performance of the feedhorn naturally fits. We used a commercial physical optics package (GRASP) with an user-defined optimizer to give physical constraints to evaluated optical designs for highest efficiency.

This study intends to make a counterproposal for re-building existing high-rise/high-dense buildings and for planlessly re-constructing multi-dwellings. Also, it proposes the plan instruction fur reconstruction by small collective housings through annexing parcels in the residence Inner area. This study can be summarized as below: (1) Remained site generated by site boundaries can be utilized by annexing two or more parcels. (2) Vacant lots between buildings can be utilized as building space or common space by small-sized annexation. (3) Bad effect of residential environment caused by simultaneous development of total blocks can be minimized. (4) Formation of site size and plane, which are advantageous to reconstruction, is available. (5) Accessibility to neighboring roads can increase. (6) Residents' participation in development can increase in economical and planning aspect. In order to utilize these planning instruction, residents' participation and improved public ownership system for parcel annexation are required.
