  • This paper proposes an insect behavior-inspired routing algorithm for large-scale wireless mesh networks. The proposed algorithm is adapted from the behavior of an insect called Bombyx mori, a male silkmoth. Its unique behavior is its flying technique to find the source of pheromones. The algorithm consists of two steps: the shortest-path algorithm and the zigzag-path algorithm. First, the shortest-path algorithm is employed to transmit data. After half of the total hops, the zigzag-path algorithm, which is based on the movement of the male B. mori, is applied. In order to adapt the biological behavior to large-scale wireless mesh networks, we use a mesh topology for implementing the algorithm. Simulation results show that the total energy used and the decision time for routing of the proposed algorithm are improved under certain conditions.

  • With the rapid development of urban traffic system and fast increasing of vehicle numbers, the traditional centralized ways to generate the source-destination shortest path in terms of travel time(the optimal path) encounter several problems, such as high server pressure, low query efficiency, roads state without in-time updating. With the widespread use of smart cameras in the urban traffic and surveillance system, this paper maps the optimal path finding problem in the dynamic road network to the shortest routing problem in the smart camera networks. The proposed distributed optimal path generation algorithm employs the delay routing and caching mechanism. Real-time route update is also presented to adapt to the dynamic road network. The test result shows that this algorithm has advantages in both query time and query packet numbers.

  • Multicast technology allows the transmission of data from one source node to a selected group of destination nodes. Multicast routes typically use trees, called multicast routing trees, to minimize resource usage such as cost and bandwidth by sharing links. Moreover, the quality of service (QoS) is satisfied by distributing data along a path haying no more than a given number of arcs between the root node of a session and a terminal node of it in the routing tree. Thus, a multicast routing tree for a session can be represented as a hop constrained Steiner tree. In this paper, we consider the hop-constrained multicast route packing problem with bandwidth reservation. Given a set of multicast sessions, each of which has a hop limit constraint and a required bandwidth, the problem is to determine a set of multicast routing trees in an arc-capacitated network to minimize cost. We propose an integer programming formulation of the problem and an algorithm to solve it. An efficient column generation technique to solve the linear programming relaxation is proposed, and a modified cover inequality is used to strengthen the integer programming formulation.

  • In this paper, we evalvated two main QoS supporting routing protorol on wireless ad hoc network. At Presence wireless mobile communication focuses on how to efficiently support mobility of users more than QoS guarantee. However, in order to satisfy requirement of various applications which have been or will be served, QoS support service between source and destination becoming a very important issue. Of all routing protocols, DSR and AOUV are very improtant routing protocol in MANET. So we simulated DSR and AODV QoS Routing Protocol Through simulation evaluation tool NS(Network Simulation) based on various environments.

  • Many routing protocols have been proposed for mobile ad-hoc networks, but most protocols do not consider the physical location of the communicating nodes. In this paper we propose adaptive zoning approach with multiple hosts for reducing the number of route request messages. The proposed approach makes the sub-request zone has shorter interval than the existing schemes between the source and destination. This results in significantly lower routing overhead than the existing schemes as verified by computer simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose a distributed routing algorithm for mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) where mobile devices can be utilized as relays for communication between remote source-destination nodes. The objective of the proposed algorithm is to minimize the end-to-end communication delay caused by transmission failure with deep channel fading. In each hop, the node needs to select the next relaying node by considering a tradeoff relationship between the link stability and forward link distance. Based on such feature, we formulate the problem with partially observable Markov decision process (MDP) and apply deep reinforcement learning to derive effective routing strategy for the formulated MDP. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other baseline schemes in terms of the average end-to-end delay.

  • The AODV routing algorithm in a mobile ad-hoc networks broadcasts RREQ packet to find a route from a source to a destination. An attacker node may intercept a RREQ packet and attack by falsifying a field in that packet. In this paper, we propose a simply modified method which can protect a routing table from an attack to falsify the hop count field in the RREQ packet. When establishing a connection between a source and a destination, we update routing table of each node on the connection based on minimum delay instead of minimum hop count. By doing this, we can protect routing table from an attack to falsify a hop count Our simulation is implemented in Network Simulator(NS-2). We analyze how an attacker affects the mobile ad-hoc networks. The result of the simulation shows that the proposed mechanism transfers a data securely.

  • This paper describes the design and performance of a secure routing protocol with time-space cryptography for mobile ad-hoc networks. The proposed time-space scheme works in the time domain for key distribution between source and destination as well as in the space domain for intrusion detection along the route between them. For data authentication, it relies on the symmetric key cryptography due to high efficiency and a secret key is distributed using a time difference from the source to the destination. Also, a one-way hash chain is formed on a hop-by-hop basis to prevent a compromised node or an intruder from manipulating the routing information. In order to evaluate the performance of our routing protocol, we compare it with the existing AODV protocol by simulation under the same conditions. The proposed protocol has been validated using the ns-2 network simulator with wireless and mobility extensions.

  • In industrial distributed control systems, sensors collect data from the physical environment periodically and transmit them to the actuators, which process the control operations based on the received data. For the effective operation of the control systems, the data transmitted by the sensors has to be delivered to the actuators reliably within the deadline, and if the message reception rate of the actuators becomes lower than a threshold, then the performance of the control systems drops greatly. This paper suggests a message routing protocol to transmit periodic messages reliably in a distributed control system based on wireless sensor networks. For reliable message transmission, the proposed protocol selects a routing path whose end-to-end message reception rate is the highest before transmitting data messages. The proposed protocol has the capability of maintaining a target message reception rate for each flow. To maintain the required target reception rate, each destination monitors the actual message reception rate periodically and transmits a feedback message to the source if it drops below the target reception rate. On receiving the feedback message, the source tries to find a new path which can satisfy the target rate. The performance of the proposed protocol has been evaluated using simulation and compared with other protocols in terms of the message reception rate, the message delay and delay jitter, and so on. The simulation results show that the proposed protocol has a higher message reception rate and comparable message delay and delay jitter to other protocols. The simulation results also show that the proposed protocol has an ability to adapt well to the dynamic network traffic change.
