  • This study was to estimate the reduction effect of nonpoint source pollutants according to the rainfall intensity and drainage of infiltration grate inlet. Soil infiltration flow was measured on-site and SS load by the filter part was calculated by the experimental data in laboratory reactor test. Soil infiltration flow was measured to be about $1m^3/hr$ in soil condition saturated with water. The filter part of the infiltration grate inlet was a hydraulic equipment unhindered by soil infiltration on the bottom of the storage tank, because the infiltration flow was measured to be about $3m^3/hr$ continuously in the closing infiltration hole condition. Infiltration flow and SS load were over about $1m^3/hr$ and 1.71 kg according to laboratory results by the filter part using the artifical sample. Therefore, the above values could be presented as the limitted value to start the reduction of filtration effect. Reduction efficiencies of SS load by the filter part for the rainfall intensity were about 87 % at 5 mm/hr and about 61 % at 10 mm/hr in consideration of one infiltration grate inlet got the drainage area about $200m^2$. The reduction efficiency of nonpoint source pollutants was very effective in the first flush rainfall. However, the reduction efficiency by rainfall density was higher than by flow.

  • Recently, Internet users have an interest about Social Media Service in Web2.0 environment. We suggest the orchestra service as social media service to meet user satisfactions in changed web environment. We accept a concept of the MMMD (Multiple Media Multiple Devices). In other words, Internet users listen to the music not only one device but multiple devices. Each one of multiple devices can play a sound source under earmark instruments for providing users with actual feeling like an orchestra. To meet the purpose, we define 3 steps. First, we separate the sound source based on instrument information. Second, we exact the suitable sound source for play orchestra. In final step, the sound source transmits to each suitable playing device. We named the 3 step for AET process. Beside we suggest synchronization method using rest point in the MIDI file for control sound sources. Using the AET process and synchronization method we provide the orchestra service for meet user's satisfactions to users.

  • The Ministry of the Environment conducts a water environment management plan and TMDL(Total Maximum Daily Load) for integrated watershed management, and determines whether the target water quality is achieved using water quality monitoring data. The concentration of monitoring points located in the downstream of the watershed is the outcome of complicated mechanisms such as influx of pollutants from the tributaries of the watershed and self-purification of river water. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of main stream and tributary water quality on the target water quality point using the water pollution source tracking and exceedance rate of watershed. In this study, FDC and exceedance rate analysis were performed on six water quality items including BOD and T-P, which are the targets of TMDL. Water quality items and points affecting the target water quality point were derived from flow rate. In this study, the pollution source tracking through FDC analysis and exceedance rate analysis will be able to establish more efficiently the water quality management strategy for each branch to achieve the target water quality.

  • The object of this paper is to evaluate the fission product inventories and radiological doses in a non-LOCA event, based on the U.S. NRC's regulatory methodologies recommended by the TID-14844 and the RG 1.195. For choosing a non-LOCA event, one fuel assembly was assumed to be melted by a channel blockage accident. The Hanul nuclear power reactor unit 6 and the CE $16{\times}16$ fuel assembly were selected as the computational models. The burnup cross section library for depletion calculations was produced using the TRITON module in the SCALE6.1 computer code system. Based on the recently licensed values for fuel enrichment and burnup, the source term calculation was performed using the ORIGEN-ARP module. The fission product inventories released into the environment were obtained with the assumptions of the TID-14844 and the RG 1.195. With two kinds of source terms, the radiological doses of public in normal environment reflecting realistic circumstances were evaluated by applying the average condition of meteorology, inhalation rate, and shielding factor. The statistical analysis was first carried out using consecutive three year-meteorological data measured at the Hanul site. The annual-averaged atmospheric dispersion factors were evaluated at the shortest representative distance of 1,000 m, where the residents are actually able to live from the reactor core, according to the methodology recommended by the RG 1.111. The Korean characteristic-inhalation rate and shielding factor of a building were considered for a series of dose calculations.

  • The contamination of chlorinated ethenes at an industrial complex, Wonju, Korea, was examined based on sixteen rounds of groundwater quality data collected from 2009 to 2013. Remediation technologies such as soil vapor extraction, soil flushing, biostimulation, and pumping-and-treatment have been applied to eliminate the contaminant sources of trichloroethylene (TCE) and to prevent the migration of TCE plume from remediation target zones. At each remediation target zone, temporal monitoring data before and after the application of remediation techniques showed that the aqueous concentrations of TCE plume present at and around the main source areas decreased significantly as a result of remediation technologies. However, the TCE concentration of the plumes at the downstream area remained unchanged in response to the remediation action, but it showed a great fluctuation according to seasonal recharge variation during the monitoring period. Therefore, variations in the contaminant flux across three transects were analyzed. Prior to the remediation action, the concentration and mass discharges of TCE at the transects were affected by seasonal recharge variation and residual DNAPLs sources. After the remediation, the effect of remediation took place clearly at the transects. By tracing a time-series of plume evolution, a greater variation in the TCE concentrations was detected at the plumes near the source zones compared to the relatively stable plumes in the downstream. The difference in the temporal profiles of TCE concentrations between the plumes in the source zone and those in the downstream could have resulted from remedial actions taken at the source zones. This study demonstrates that long term monitoring data are useful in assessing the effectiveness of remediation practices.

  • In this paper, ship performance prediction solver was developed using open source computational fluid dynamics (CFD) libraries. The mass- and momentum-conservation equations and turbulent model with a wall function for the turbulent closer were considered. The volume fraction transport equation with a high-resolution interface capturing scheme were selected for free-surface simulation. The predicted wave pattern around KRISO container ship (KCS) using developed program showed good agreement against existing experimental data. For the revolution of a propeller in the propulsive test, general grid interface (GGI) library was used. The predicted propulsive performance showed 7 % difference against experimental data. Two-phase mixture model was developed to simulate a cavitation and applied to a propeller. The sheet cavitation on the propeller was predicted well. From results, the potential of the numerical tank developed by open source libraries was verified by applying it to KCS.

  • Bistatic sonar performance varies significantly depending on the ocean environment, the location (latitude, longitude) and water depth of the source and receiver. Therefore, research on optimal deployment of bistatic sonar considering ocean environment is necessary. In this study, we suggest an algorithm to optimize the location and water depth of source and receiver when operating monostatic and bistatic sonar on two spatially separated surface ships in the Ulleung Basin in the East Sea. A particle swarm optimization algorithm was used to search the location and water depth of the source and receiver to maximize the detectable area within the search area. As a result of performing bistatic sonar deployment using the algorithm proposed in this study, the detectable area increased as the number of model iterations increased. Additionally, it was confirmed that the source and receiver on the two surface ships converged to the optimal location and water depth.
