Structural optimization has been carried out in continuous design space or in discrete design space. Generally, available designs are discrete in design practice. However, the methods for discrete variables are extremely expensive in computational cost. An iterative optimization algorithm is proposed for design in a discrete space, which is called a sequential algorithm using orthogonal arrays (SOA). We demonstrate verifying the fact that a local optimum solution can be obtained from the process with this algorithm. The local optimum solution is defined in a discrete design space. Then the search space, which is a set of candidate values of each design variables formed by the neighborhood of a current design point, is defined. It is verified that a local optimum solution can be found by sequentially moving the search space. The SOA algorithm has been applied to problems such as truss type structures. Then it is confirmed that a local solution can be obtained by using the SOA algorithm
This study was carried out to provide primary data set for cleaning of contamination site. By having hydroponic culture on Salix alba and S. caprea seedling treated with Ni solution, the result of Ni accumulation came out as followings : In a treatment of Ni to the Salix alba and S. caprea, Ni accumulation increased in its root, leaves, and stem, as Ni concentration became higher until $10.0{\mu}mol$. But in a $100.0{\mu}mol$ treatment, the seedlings died after 4 weeks. Ni accumulation in the Salix alba and S. caprea was the highest in its roots, second-highest in leaves, and the lowest in stems. In the case of $10.0{\mu}mol$ treatment of Ni solution, Ni accumulation in roots were above 500.0mg/L, and leaves were above 20.0mg/L. But it was lower than 13.0mg/L in stems. Ni accumulation in the plant increased more when nutrient solution containing Ni was weekly changed than just refilling the same amount of nutrient solution that evaporated Ni accumulation in Salix alba was higher than S. caprea when the nutrient solution had been refilled only.

But methods for discrete variables are extremely expensive in computational cost. In order to overcome this weakness, an iterative optimization algorithm was proposed for design in the discrete space, which is called as a sequential algorithm using orthogonal arrays (SOA). Cu-Co-Si based alloy has a strengthening mechanism for Co2Si intermetallic compounds deposited on the copper matrix after aging treatment and the solution treatment has a key influence on the strength and electrical conductivity of the final products. In this paper, the Cu-1.6%Co-0.38%Si alloy was fixed at the time and the solution treatment temperature was set at a temperature in the range of 800 to 950℃, and the change in mechanical properties was observed by fixing the temperature at 950℃ and changing the time. The microstructure was observed using an electron microscope and an optical microscope, and the changes in hardness, electrical conductivity, and bending workability after aging treatment were investigated. When the solution treatment time is less than 20 seconds, the solution treatment is not sufficient and the formation of precipitates contributing to the increase in hardness decreases and the hardness decreases after the aging treatment, and in more than 50 seconds, the hardness decreases due to the coarsening of the grains and the bending workability got worse.
In order to make a microfiber fabric with PET/Co-PET Sea-Island Type microfiber, the optimum condition of extraction and elimination of Co-PET from the mocrofiber was examined. At the same time, the physical property change of the fabric with respect to the change of the relative amount of the Co-PET in the microfiber was also examined to provide a directly applicable data set to the industry. The sample fabric used was warp 75/36(DTY) and weft 0.05d(PET/Co-PET, Sea Island Type Microfiber) twill fabric of 36 separated yarns+40/24(high shrinking yarn) with 130/48 ITY. The data set was made at various NaOH concentrations and steam temperatures with time as a main variable. The physical properties examined were the tensile properties. The results obtained were the tensile. The results obtained were 1. For a proper extraction of Co-PET (13.5%)from the microfiber with wet curing, it takes more than 5 min. in 8 and 12% of NaOH solutions but it takes only 3 min. in 18% of NaOH solution at 12$0^{\circ}C$. 2. For a proper extraction of Co-PET (13.5%) from the microfiber with wet curing, ti takes 3~5min. in 12 and 14% of NaOH solution and it takes less than 3 min. in 18% of NaOH solution at $130^\circ{C}$. 3. The increasing ratio of WT increased with increasing NaOH concentrations and the equilibrium point reached was 3 min. at $120^\circ{C}$. 4. The WT increasing ratio was greater in 14 and 18% NaOH solutions than in 8 and 12% of NaOH solutions at $130^\circ{C}$5. The RT ratio changes at $120^\circ{C}$ in 8 and 12% of NaOH solutions were indifferent from that at $130^\circ{C}$ in 12% of NaOH solution. However, the RT was apparently decreased with increasing NaOH concentration.

Forward osmosis (FO) process is a chemical potential driven process, where highly concentrated draw solution (DS) is used to take water through semi-permeable membrane from feed solution (FS) with lower concentration. Recently, commercial FO membrane modules have been developed so that full-scale FO process can be applied to seawater desalination or water reuse. In order to design a real-scale FO plant, the performance prediction of FO membrane modules installed in the plant is essential. Especially, the flux prediction is the most important task because the amount of diluted draw solution and concentrate solution flowing out of FO modules can be expected from the flux. Through a previous study, a theoretical based FO module model to predict flux was developed. However it needs an intensive numerical calculation work and a fitting process to reflect a complex module geometry. The idea of this work is to introduce deep learning to predict flux of FO membrane modules using 116 experimental data set, which include six input variables (flow rate, pressure, and ion concentration of DS and FS) and one output variable (flux). The procedure of optimizing a deep learning model to minimize prediction error and overfitting problem was developed and tested. The optimized deep learning model (error of 3.87%) was found to predict flux better than the theoretical based FO module model (error of 10.13%) in the data set which were not used in machine learning.
