  • There are several models and the corresponding diagrams to express software system in many kinds of viewpoints, but these are supposed to be integrated and implemented into only one system. Therefore, the software modelers should have the models ensuring the consistency between information in software development life cycle. To support the robust models for modelers using OO modeling methods, i.e. UML, and CASE tools, the meta models of the software architecture and the consistency rules between the models are suggested in this thesis. Finally, the rules are implemented in the OO CASE tool, DEBUTO(Design By UML Tool). It supports UML1.1 notations and has visual modeling editors that enable users make their own software model.

  • Recent advances in computer technology have brought more dependence on software to railway signaling systems. Hence, the safety assurance of the vital software running on the railway signaling system is very critical task and yet, not many works have been done. While much efforts have been reported to improve electronic hardware's safety, not so much systematic approaches to evaluate software's safety. In this paper, we suggested an automated analysis tool for S/W change impact in railway signaling system, and presented its result of implementation. The analysis items in the implemented tool had referred to the international standards in relation to the software for railway signaling system, such as IEC 61508 and IEC 62279. In these international standards, 'change impact analysis' for railway signaling system S/W has to be required mandatorily. The proposed tool can be utilized at the assessment stage and also the software development stage.

  • This study provides a thorough methodology for IT Investment evaluation. A software tool to support the evaluation process was introduced along with a case study. The software supports the methodology that consists of 7 phases : Target analysis, ldentifying IT measures, Measuring IT impact, Assessing business value, Analyzing the decree of realization, Cost-benefit analysis, and Reporting. The case study showed that the software (CAFA) was a very useful tool supporting both decision-making and post-implementation reviews of IT investment.

  • The development of automated quality evaluation tool is desperately needed to decrease the cost of maintenance, to measure quality of source program in developing course for the purpose of developing high quality software. Main goal in this paper is to develop the automated tool for software quality evaluation related with high quality and high reliability of software. In this paper, we proposed the four software quality model to evaluate software quality; functional -size model, understandability model, complexity model and object-oriented model. Also, we made a scanner and a parser to analyze the c and C++ source program and to produce the metrics and function value. The measurement value is statistically analyzed for the distribution of the measurement value. we can extracted the characteristics of measurement value and this one is assisted to make scores of software quality evaluation. Finally, we made a software quality evaluation tool to support software evaluation activities.

  • Visualization is a science which makes the invisible to visible through the techniques of experimental visualization and computer-aided visualization. This paper presents the practical aspects of visualization of multivariate dataset. In this paper, we will briefly discuss a previous research work and introduce a new visualization technique which will help us to design and develop a visualization tool for experimental visualization of multivariate dataset. Our newly developed visualization tool can be used in various domains. In this paper, we have chosen a software industry as an application domain and we used the multivariate dataset of software components computed by VizzMaintenance. VizzMaintenance is software analysis tool which give us multiple software metrics of open source Java based programs. Main objective of this research is to develop a new visualization tool for large multivariate dataset which will be more efficient and easy to perceive by viewer. Perception is very important for our research work and we have decided to test the perception level of our proposed visualization approach by researchers of our research lab.

  • To remove software defects and improve performance of software, many developers perform code inspections and use static analysis tools. A code inspection is an activity that is performed manually to detect software defects in the developed source. However, there is no clear criterion which source codes are inspected. A static analysis tool can automatically detect software defects by analyzing the source codes without running the source codes. However, it has disadvantage that analyzes only the codes in the functions without analyzing the relations among source functions. The functions in the source codes are interconnected and formed a social network. Functions that occupy critical locations in a network can be important enough to affect the overall quality. Whereas, a static analysis tool merely suggests which functions were called several times. In this study, the core functions will be elicited by using social network analysis and DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) for CUBRID open database sources. In addition, we will suggest clear criteria for selecting the target sources for code inspection and will suggest ways to find core functions to minimize defects and improve performance.

  • Recent advances in computer technology have brought more dependency on software to railway signalling system. While much efforts have been reported to evaluate embedded software safety for railway signalling systems, not so much systematic approaches to evaluate software safety testing. In this paper, we propose a adaption of automatic software testing tool in terms of the design & coding standard for railway signalling system. The test items for the design & coding standard suggested in this study related international standards and MISRA-C. It is anticipated that it will be greatly helpful for the evaluation on the software for railway signalling system.

  • Robot software components can be categorized into two types; the pure S/W component and the H/W-related one. Since interface testing of the robot software component is the labour-intensive and complicated work, an effective automated testing tool is necessary. Especially it is difficult to test all types of H/W-related components because it is hard work to prepare all H/W modules related to them. This paper proposes a new simulation-based interface testing automation tool(SITAT) which generates automatically test cases for interface testing of the robot software component and executes the interface test with the generated test cases where the simulator is used for simulation of the activity of a H/W module instead of the real H/W module. This paper verifies the effectiveness of the suggested SITAT with testing of the real H/W-related robot software component.
