  • Predicted behaviour of a soft clay deposit in design stage is sometimes different from in-situ settlement and pore pressure measured during and after construction. In this paper, characteristics of settlement and pore pressure occurred in soft soil deposits were investigated briefly in order to get a better understanding of time-dependent viscoplastic behaviour and prevent geotechnical problems resulted from long-term settlement, differential settlement, etc.

김포한강지구 계측자료를 이용한 침하예측기법의 적용성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Applicability of Settlement Prediction Method Based on the Field Measurement in Gimpo Hangang Site)

  • 연약지반에 구조물을 설치하거나 도로 또는 단지를 조성하는 경우 지지력 부족으로 인한 지반 전단파괴 및 과도한 압밀침하 등 공학적 문제가 발생하게 되어, 강도증가 및 침하억제를 위한 지반 개량공사를 필수적으로 시행하여야 한다. 연약지반을 개량함에 있어 현장계측자료를 바탕으로 한 장기침하량 예측은 선행재하 성토고 및 압밀완료시점 예측을 위한 매우 중요한 요소로 이에 관한 연구가 국내 외 여러 학자들에 의해 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 선행재하 및 연직배수 공법을 적용하여 점성토 연약지반개량을 시행한 연구 대상 지역의 압밀침하 특성을 분석하였으며, 쌍곡선법, ${\sqrt{S}}$법, Asaoka법을 적용하여 압밀도에 따른 예측 침하량과 실측 최종침하량을 비교 분석하여 김포한강지구의 토질특성에 맞는 침하예측기법을 연구하였다. 연구결과에 의하면 3가지 예측방법으로 추정한 침하량과 계측침하량의 오차가 최대 ${\pm}4$% 이내로 실 침하량과 거의 일치하였으며, 예측의 정확도는 Asaoka법, 쌍곡선법, ${\sqrt{s}}$법 순으로 나타났다.

베트남지역에서의 연약지반 개량 설계.시공 사례 (A Case Study on Soft Soil Treatment Design and Construction in Vietnam)

  • GS E&C was awarded the contract for the construction of Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway Package EX-7 from Station Km 72+000 to Station Km 81+300 in December 2008. This project is the $7^{th}$ contract package of the 105.5 km long expressway near Hai Phong city, which includes a FCM-styled bridge along with high embankments over soft ground. For these high embankments, there is a need to treat the soft soil for improving the overall stability during construction and for reducing the post-construction settlement of the expressway. The Designer of this project had adopted four (4) different types of ground improvement techniques to treat the soft ground, including the prefabricated vertical drains (PVD), sand drains (SD), pack drains (PD, or sometimes called packed sand drains), and sand compaction piles (SCP). The main focus of soft soil treatment should be paid attention to the residual settlement after construction. In current design, however, it appeared that the secondary compression (or creep) of the improved soil layer and the consolidation settlement of the lower untreated compressible soil layer have been neglected in the estimation of the post-construction settlement. These uncalculated residual settlements may not only unsatisfy the design criteria but also raise serious problems during service period of this expressway. In this paper, the subsoil condition and current design were reviewed focusing on the employed soft soil treatment method and expected residual settlement.

기초지반강성을 고려한 철골 건축구조물의 비선형 지진해석 (Nonlinear Seismic Analysis of Steel Structure Buildings Considering the Stiffnesses of the Foundation-Soil System)

  • Seismic responses of a building are affected due to the site soil conditions. In this study, linear time history seismic analysis and nonlinear pushover static seismic analysis were performed to estimate the base shear forces of the 3, 5 and 7-story steel structure buildings considering the rigid and soft soil conditions. According to the study results, the steel structure buildings designed for the gravity loads and wind load showed the elastic responses with the moderate earthquake of 0.11g, and the soft soil layer increased the displacement and the base shear force of a building. Therefore it is more resonable to perform an elastic seismic analysis of a building structure with the moderate earthquakes considering the characteristics of the soft soil layer.

  • If the load of constructing vehicles during the construction work acts on the road or the ground surface on the soft ground, due to the excess stresses in soils the trafficability of the vehicles influences the constructing efficiency, constructing period and so on. Stress distribution in soils is the very important element to design and to solve the problems of settlement, safety of foundations and trafficability of constructing vehicle in civil engineering. This research represents the comparative estimation of the actual and theoretical measurement on the underground stress of outer layer for each soil after the observation of each top soil layer for its vertical and horizontal stress in (1)homogeneous sand ground (2) weak stratum with the sand soil (3) weak stratum with gravel of the soil model, and it also investigates the effect of subsidence of ground by the repeated load. The underground stress turn out to be different in the value of theoretical and actual measurement after the trial examination of model.

연약지반 무한궤도차량의 다물체 동적거동 해석 (Multibody Dynamic Analysis of a Tracked Vehicle on Soft Cohesive Soil)

  • This paper is concerned about the dynamic analysis of an underwater test miner, which operates on cohesive soil. The test miner consists of tracked vehicles and a pick-up device. The motion of the pick-up device, relative to the vehicle chassis, is controlled by two pairs of hydraulic cylinders. The test miner is modeled by means of commercial software. A terramechanics model of cohesive soft soil is implemented with the software and applied to a dynamic analysis of the test miner model. The dynamic responses of the test miner are studied with respect to four different types of terrain conditions.

표층처리를 위한 현장의 강도적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on Applicability of Soil Strength for Surface Treatment)

  • 대부분의 항만구조물은 초연약 지반상에 축조되고 있으며 도로나 건물부지에는 지반개량이 필요하다. 이 논문에서는 여러 사례연구를 통하여 표층처리후의 복토사례에 대하여 몇가지 고려사항을 언급하였다. 또한, 모래나 산토를 이용한 복토공법에 대하여 강도적용이 고려되었다. 국내 복토공법 토목섬유 인장강도는 15t/m, 복토두께는 1.6~3.1m, 점토지반의 표층강도는 $0.2{\sim}1.2t/m^2$이 대표적이다. 표층처리공 시공시 발생되는 지반교란, 점토유출, 장비전도 등의 사고를 최소화하기 위한 연구가 필요하다.

연약지반과 풍화토지반에서 경사고임대 지지블록의 수동토압 산정 (Passive Force Acting on the Kicker Block Used to Support a Raker in Soft and Weathered Soil)

  • 경사고임대의 지지블록에서 발휘되는 수동토압은 지반종류에 따라 발휘되는 토압이 다르다. 영구구조물인 옹벽 설계에서는 수동토압의 안전율을 고려하도록 하고 있으나, 가시설에 설치되는 경사고임대 지지블록에 작용하는 토압은 실제 발휘되는 수동측토압보다 과하게 산정되어 불안전측의 설계가 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 3차원 수치해석(PLAXIS)을 이용 토사지반에서 경사고임대 지지블록에 발생되는 수동측토압을 산정하였다. 토사지반으로 연약지반과 풍화토지반이 선택되었다. 수치해석결과 각 지반에서 지지블록의 수평변위와 수동측토압 관계 곡선이 산정되었으며 이 곡선상의 항복점이 설계에 적용할 경사고임대 지지체에서의 저항력으로 연약지반에서는 Rankine 수동토압의 약 55.5%, 풍화토지반에서는 약 66%를 보는 것이 안정성 측면에서 바람직한 것으로 나타났다.

압밀시험의 수치해석에 의한 MCC 모델과 SSC 모델 비교 (Comparison of MCC and SSC Models Based on Numerical Analysis of Consolidation Test)

  • In order to integrate two consolidation theories of Terzaghi's consolidation theory and Mesri's secondary compression theory and to identify a model suitable for analyzing stress-strain behavior over time, numerical analysis on consolidation tests were conducted using a modified cam-clay model and a soft soil creep model and the following conclusions were obtained. The results of numerical analysis applying the theory that a linear proportional relationship is established between the void ratio at logarithmic scale and the permeability coefficient at logarithmic scale is better agreement with the result of oedometer test than the results of applying constant hydraulic conductivity. The modified cam-clay model is a model that does not include secondary compression, but the slope of the normal consolidation line corresponding to the compression index of the standard consolidation test includes secondary compression, so the actual settlement curve over time is lower than the predicted value through numerical analysis. It always gets smaller. Other previous studies that applied Terzaghi's consolidation theory to consolidation test analysis showed the same results and were cross-confirmed. The soft soil creep model, which includes secondary compression in the theory, showed good agreement in all sections including secondary compression in the consolidation test results. It was judged appropriate to use a soft soil creep model when performing numerical analysis of soft clay ground.

Seismic analysis of 3-D two adjacent buildings connected by viscous dampers with effect of underneath different soil kinds

  • 3D two adjacent buildings with different heights founded in different kinds of soil connected with viscous dampers groups, with especial arrangement in plane, were investigated. Soil structure interaction for three different kinds of soil (stiff, medium and soft) were modeled as 3D Winkler model to give the realistic behavior of adjacent buildings connected with viscous dampers under various earthquake excitations taking in the account the effect of different kinds of soil beneath the buildings, using SAP2000n to model the whole system. A range of soil properties and soil damping characteristics are chosen which gives broad picture of connected structures system behavior resulted from the influence soil-structure interaction. Its conclusion that the response of connected structures system founded on soft soil are more critical than those founded on stiff soil. The behavior of connected structures is different from those with fixed base bigger by nearly 20%, and the efficiency of viscous dampers connecting the two adjacent buildings is reduced by nearly 25% less than those founded on stiff soil.
