  • The fundamental aim of the proposed work is to introduce the concept of soft rectangular b-metric spaces, which involves generalizing the notions of rectangular metric spaces and b-metric spaces. Furthermore, an investigation into specific characteristics and topological aspects of the underlying generalization of metric spaces is conducted. Moreover, the research establishes fixed point theorems for mappings that satisfy essential criteria within soft rectangular b-metric spaces. These theorems offer a broader perspective on established results in fixed point theory. Additionally, several congruous examples are presented to enhance the understanding of the introduced spatial framework.

  • This paper relates to the soft decision method with erasure technique in digital terrestrial television broadcasting system. The proposed decoder use the CSI derived from using the pilots in receiver. The active real(I) and imaginary(Q) data are transferred to the branch metric calculation block that decides the Euclidean distance for the soft decision decoding and also the estimated CSI values are transferred to the same block. After calculating the Euclidean distance for the soft decision decoding, the Euclidean distance of branch metric is multiplied by CSI. To do so, new branch metric values that consider each carrier state information are obtained. We simulated this method in better performance of about 0.15dB to 0.17dB and 2.2dB to 2.9dB in Rayleigh channel than that of the conventional soft decision Viterbi decoding with or without bit interleaver where the constellation is QPSK, 16-QAM and 64-QAM.

  • In this paper, we designed a Viterbi decoder with constraint length K=7, code rate R=1/2, encoder generator polynomial (171, 133)$_{8}$. This decoder makes use of 3-bit soft decision. We designed the Viterbi decoder using VHDL. We employed conventional logic circuit instead of ROM for branch metric units(BMUs) to reduce the number of gates. We adopted fully parallel structures for add-compare-select units(ACSUs). The size of the designed decoder is about 200, 000 gates.s.

  • This paper proposes a new signal detection method, called QR-OSIC with Candidates (QOC) method, for spatially multiplexed multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems. By using the ordered successive interference cancellation (OSIC) algorithm and the maximum likelihood (ML) metric, the proposed method achieves near-ML performance without requiring a large number of candidates. Although the proposed method can be used for both hard and soft decoding systems, it is especially useful for soft decoding systems since the LLR values for all the bits can be efficiently computed without using LLR estimation. The proposed method is also suitable for VLSI implementation since it leads to fixed throughput system.

  • In IS-95 and IMT-2000 systems using variable code rates and constraint lengths, this paper limits code rate 1/2 and constraint length 3 and states the effective reduction of PM(Path Metric) and BM(Branch Metric) memories and arithmetic comparative calculations with appling PVSL(Prototype Vector Selecting Logic) and LVQ(Learning Vector Quantization) in neural network to simplify systems and to decode forwardly. Regardless of extension of constraint length, this paper presents the new Vierbi decoder and the appied algorithm because new structure and algorithm can apply to the existing Viterbi decoder using only uncomplicated application and verifies the rationality of the proposed Viterbi decoder through VHDL simulation and compares the performance between the proposed Viterbi decoder and the existing.

  • A multiple symbol detection (MSD) algorithm is proposed relying on soft information for ultra-wideband systems, where differential space-time block code is employed. The proposed algorithm aims to calculate a posteriori probabilities (APP) of information symbols, where a forward and backward message passing mechanism is implemented based on the BCJR algorithm. Specifically, an MSD metric is analyzed and performed for serving the APP model. Furthermore, an autocorrelation sampling is employed to exploit signals dependencies among different symbols, where the observation window slides one symbol each time. With the aid of the bidirectional message passing mechanism and the proposed sampling approach, the proposed MSD algorithm achieves a better detection performance as compared with the existing MSD. In addition, when the proposed MSD is exploited in conjunction with channel decoding, an iterative soft-input soft-output MSD approach is obtained. Finally, simulations demonstrate that the proposed approaches improve detection performance significantly.

  • The decoding of Turbo-Code relies on the application of a soft input/soft output decoders which can be realized using maximum-a-posteriori(MAP) symbol estimator[l]. Radix-2 MAP decoder can not be used for high speed communications because of a large number of interleaver block size N. This paper proposed a new simple method for radix-4 MAP decoder based on radix-2 MAP decoder in order to reduce the interleave block size. A branch metrics, forward and backward recursive functions are proposed for applying to radix-4 MAP structure with symbol interleaver. Radix-4 MAP decoder shall be illustratively described and its error performance capability shall be compared to conventional radix-2 MAP decoder in AWGN channel.

  • This paper presents a low-complexity non-iterative soft-decision Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (SD-BCH) decoder architecture and design technique for wireless body area networks (WBANs). A SD-BCH decoder with test syndrome computation, a syndrome calculator, Chien search and metric check, and error location decision is proposed. The proposed SD-BCH decoder not only uses test syndromes, but also does not have an iteration process. The proposed SD-BCH decoder provides a 0.75~1 dB coding gain compared to a hard-decision BCH (HD-BCH) decoder, and almost similar coding gain compared to a conventional SD-BCH decoder. The proposed SD-BCH (63, 51) decoder was designed and implemented using 90-nm CMOS standard cell technology. Synthesis results show that the proposed non-iterative SD-BCH decoder using a serial structure can lead to a 75% reduction in hardware complexity and a clock speed 3.8 times faster than a conventional SD-BCH decoder.

  • TCM(Trellis Coded Modulation) has soft decision scheme so that BM(Branch Metric) calculates the ED(Euclidean Distance) between the received signal and each code words in signal space. For computing the ED, square and square root computations increase the hardware complexity. Some simplified method is known for convolutional codes with QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying), PSK(Phase Shift Keying) modulation. But it is not acceptable for QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation)-TCM scheme. In this paper, we suggest that two modified BM computation methods, which is applicable for QAM-TCM. By comparative study, we also assessed two proposed method in the case of hardware complexity and BER (Bit Error Rate) performance.
