  • Iron-based amorphous powder attracts increasing attention because of its excellent soft magnetic properties and low iron loss at high frequencies. The development of an insulating layer on the surface of the amorphous soft magnetic powder is important for minimizing the eddy current loss and enhancing the energy efficiency of high-frequency devices by further increasing the electrical resistivity of the cores. In this study, a hybrid insulating coating layer is investigated to compensate for the limitations of monolithic organic or inorganic coating layers. Fe2O3 nanoparticles are added to the flexible silicon-based epoxy layer to prevent magnetic dilution; in addition TiO2 nanoparticles are added to enhance the mechanical durability of the coating layer. In the hybrid coating layer with optimal composition, the decrease in magnetic permeability and saturation magnetization is suppressed.

  • In this paper the magnetic field properties of the soft magnetic alloys (Fe-Si-Cr and Fe-Ni-Cr) are studied in advance for the development of electro-magnetic shielding films, which could be used in the IT Devices (NFC, mobile phone, computer, etc.).As a result each of the selected soft magnetic alloy melts of the corresponding compositions is water-dispersed into the disk-shaped grains, which are soaked in polymer resin, and of which two types of thin film of thickness 0.1mm and 1mm are made by passing through the heating calendar roller. And the magnetic permeability and the shielding effectiveness of the polymer films containing the soft magnetic alloy grains are measured over the whole frequency bands from the low frequency to 10GHz. Before the experiments of the soft magnetic alloy, a special equation is proposed to estimate the permeability of the alloy, and the equation is verified with the pre-published data by MATLAB, and from which the most optimal compositions can be decided. And the SE(Shielding Effectiveness) of the polymer films containing the soft magnetic alloy grains is simulated by the HFSS.

  • This paper presents the electromagnetic shielding structure for low frequency wireless power transfer system with magnetic induction method using soft magnetic materials. Soft magnetic materials have advantages such as high permeability and low magnetic loss, but have undesirable effect of power loss by eddy current. To overcome this, we proposed the patterned soft magnetic material to suppress the eddy current path. For validity of this paper, we simulated the coil transfer efficiency and the radiated electromagnetic field, and fabricated the proposed structure using 79-permalloy. The measured results shows good agreements with the simulated results and reduction of the radiated electromagnetic field compared to commercial ferrite plate.

  • We charaterized electromagnetic shielding properties of a soft magnetic film using by a ASTM method and 2-port flanged coaxial line method in a RF range and quantitatively analyzed factors for the shielding effectiveness of the soft magnetic film in far field. The shielding effectiveness of the soft magnetic film was dominantly affected by absorption loss not reflection loss in high frequency range of 4-13.5 GHz.

  • This paper presents a new structure for the universal motor using soft magnetic composite (SMC). The stator for this new type of motor is made by combination of the SMC pole and the silicon steel yoke. The shape of the 3D SMC pole is designed to minimize ohmic loss and amount of stator coil. To design the pole shape, the 3D analysis in the design procedure is replaced with an equivalent 2D analysis. Finally, the optimal shape is analyzed by 3D FEM and the performance is discussed.

  • Improvement of the strength is one of the most important subjects on soft magnetic composite (SMC) to increase the applica ble items. In this study, lubricants for inner lubricating SMC, which can be produced in lower cost than die wall-lubricatin g SMC, varied to investigate their effect on the strength. The newly developed SMC with self-lubricating resin shows high st rength equivalent to that of SMC obtained by die wall lubrication.

  • Influences of machining on magnetic properties of soft magnetic composites (SMC's) with addition of two kinds of binder, i.e., organic binder and inorganic one, were investigated. Machining does not affect DC magnetic properties of the SMC compacts. This can be ascribed to their particular structure in which the ironpowder particles are highly isolated by the binder. On the other hand, decrease in resistivity and resultant increase in eddy current loss was confirmed in the machined compacts containing inorganic binder. It is supposed that the brittleadditive binder existing between the iron particles is partly broken, and iron-to-iron contact is formed on the machined surface.

  • Recently, there has been a growing demand for soft magnetic materials with high conversion characteristics, due to the trend of electric devices to higher-frequency range. For ruduceing core loss in the high-frequency range, using finely grained and high-resistivity Fe-based alloy powder is most efficient methods. But, conventionally, there's been a compressibility problem for such powder. In this work, Fe-based alloy powder that offers both high resistivity and high compressibility was developed by studyuing composition of the powder, and reduction of core loss of P/M soft magnetic materials in the high frequency range was achieved.

  • We have investigated the magnetic properties of FeBN and FeSiN films deposited by RF magnetron reactive sputtering system. It was investigated that the compositions of B, Si and N were the main factors influencing the soft magnetic properties and film resistivity. The addition of small amount of N significantly improve the soft magnetic properties and electrical resistivity. The FeBN and FeSiN films were showed good soft magnetic properties which were Hc<1 Oe, Bs:19~19 kG and $\mu$'>1000 values. The composition of films were $Fe_{75}(BN)_{25},\;Fe_{78}(SiN)_{22}$ and resistivity was 100~120 $\mu$$\Omega$-cm. but, futher increase in B, Si and N concentration degraded the soft magnetic properties due to formation of nitride such as $Fe_4N$ compound.
