We describe a new approach for building organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), which is based on physical lamination (i.e. soft contact lamination (ScL)) of thin metal electrodes supported by an elastomeric layer (polydimethylsiloxane) against an electroluminescent organic. We find that the devices fabricated have much better performance than those constructed with conventional vacuum deposition process. In addition, the ScL is intrinsically compatible with the technique of soft lithograph so that it is easy to build patterned OLEDs with feature sizes into the nanometer regime.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the cause of discomfort come from wearing of soft contact lens(SCL) exposed to fundamental cosmetics, After SCLs were smeared with skin lotion, essence lotion or nutritional cream, they were exposed to artificial tear for 7 days, and then changes of the adhered protein amount, the transmission of visible light, the wettability and the base curve were estimated. The amount of protein adhered to SCLs were increased 3 times by being exposed to fundamental cosmetics. Moreover, the transmission of visible light of SCL exposed to both nutritional cream and artificial tear was 92.8%, which was 4.7% lower than SCL exposed only to artificial tear. By being exposed to skin lotion, essence lotion or nutritional cream, the contact angle of SCLs were increased up to $7.1^{\circ}$, $7.0^{\circ}$ or $5.7^{\circ}$ and the base curve of SCLs were decreased to 3.2%, 5.1% or 8.3%, respectively.
To determine the effect of base curve and diameter of soft contact lenses on the fitting under the various corneal curvature, the model eyes which was made of either stainless steel or ordinary wood, were used as the substitutes for human eyes. The evaluations of fit of the soft contact lenses on both wood model eyes and human eyes were found to be very similar to each other. All the contact lenses except very thin ones became flat after fit on the stainless steel model eyes because the model eye could not preserve enough moisture to hold the edge of contact lenses on the steel ball's surface. The relationships between the base curves of contact lenses and radii of cornea for the optimum (normal) fit were measured as follows : corneal curvature (C.C)<7.6 mm : base curve(B.C) 8.4 mm, C.C 7.6~7.8 mm : B.C 8.4~8.5 mm. C.C 7.8~8.1 mm : B.C 8.6 mm. It is concluded that larger base curve is required for the eyes which have abnormal bulge on its cornea. It is found that very thin soft contact lenses can be easily twisted or folded regardless of moisture content when they were fit on the relatively dry eyes(corneas).
Purpose: The study was performed to compare the differences in lens rotation, lens movement by blinking and lens centration with alignment or steep fitting of soft contact lens in normal and dry eyes. Methods: Total 40 eyes (aged 20~30 years) were classified into the normal (n=20) or dry eye group (n=20) by the diagnosis methods for dry eyes and worn soft contact lens (polymacon material) with alignment fitting or steep fitting. Lens rotation, lens movement by blinking and lens centration were separately measured immediately after lens wearing and after stabilization of tear film and compared by fitting states of soft contact lenses. Results: With steep fitting of soft contact lens in dry eyes, averaged lens rotation immediately after lens wearing was not significantly different from that of the normal eye group with alignment fitting however, lens rotation after stabilization in dry eyes was significantly larger than that in normal eyes. Any significant difference in lens movement by blinking was not shown in normal eyes. However, lens movement by blinking in dry eyes was increased with steep fitting. The range of lens centration on cornea in normal eyes with alignment fitting was more vertically distributed. On the other hand, the range of lens centration on cornea in dry eyes with alignment fitting was more horizontally distributed. Lens centration was shown to be changed by stabilization of tear film. That is, lens centrations were somewhat vertically widespread immediately after lens wearing and restrictively distributed in horizontal direction, respectively, with steep fitting in dry eyes. Conclusions: These results suggested that lens movements and centration in dry eyes were different from those of normal eyes. Especially, those differences between normal and dry eyes were much bigger with steep fitting of soft contact lenses. Thus, those differences should be considered for the comfortable and safe fitting of soft contact lens in dry eyes.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate subjective symptoms according to the wearing, purchase and fitting status of soft contact lens wearers, and consumer perception of base curve. Methods : A survey was conducted for those who visited optical shops and lens shops in Seoul from June to August 2018. A total of 98 answer sheets they submitted were used for the analysis. The chi-square test and Fisher's exact test were used to compare subjective symptoms (dryness, glare, uncomfortable fitting, and decreased vision) according to whether fitting condition is screened (case history and push-up test, ect relevant to wearing sensation), and the odds ratio (OR) was obtained by the logistic regression analysis. Results : When the contact lenses were purchased, the rate of which the visual acuity test was performed was 86.6% at optical shop and 64.7% at lens shop. When purchasing contact lens and the contact lens was not tested for fitting, they more experienced dryness (OR 4.41, 95% CI 1.25-15.62) and uncomfortable fitting (OR 2.68, 95% CI 1.08-6.64) than testing for fitting. In addition, it was investigated that 87.8% of contact lens wearers did not know about the term base curve, 92.9% did not listen to an explanation related to the base curve when purchasing contact lenses, and 96.9% did not experience with base curve test. Conclusion : It would be thought that satisfaction of the contact lens fitting of existing consumers should be improved by changing a proper base curve by confirming the fitting condition when prescribing soft contact lens.
Purpose: The study was performed to compare the difference of non-invasive tear break-up time (NIBUT) with alignment or steep fitting of soft contact lens in normal and dry eyes. Methods: Total 40 eyes (aged 20~30 years) were classified to the normal (n=20) or dry eye group (n=20) by the diagnosis methods for dry eyes and worn soft contact lens (polymacon material) with alignment or steep fitting. NIBUTs of lens wearers were separately measured at the points of before wearing, immediately after wearing and after stabilization of tear film. Results: With alignment fitting, averaged NIBUT in the dry eye group after stabilization of tear film was not significantly different from that of the normal eye group. However, averaged NIBUTs in the normal and dry eyes had significant difference when measured immediately after lens wearing. However, the number of eyes having NIBUT less than 4.0 second was 30% higher compared to the number of normal eyes with steep fitting when measured immediately after wearing. Some shorten NIBUT in dry eyes with steep fitting was also shown after stabilization of tear film. Conclusions: These results suggest that wearing soft contact lens in dry eyes differently affect tear film compared to normal eyes. Thus, dry eyes need more advertent fitting for contact lens wearing because of unstable tear film.
This study was conducted to measure the central corneal thickness(CTT) changes associated with kinds of wearing contact lens. The CCT was measured using ultrasonic pachymeter in three hundred four subjects in their 20s and 30s. Although the CCT of Group 1 who had never worn any kinds of contact lens had no differences between left and right eye as well as between genders, the CCT tended to become thinner depending on the increment in refractive error. In Group 2 wearing only soft contact lens, the CCT was thinner depending on wearing period, and subjects wearing for more than 10 years had significantly thin CCT comparing with subjects wearing for less than 4 years. There was no significant difference in the CCT between Group 3 wearing only RGP lens and Group 2 for less than 4 years. Furthermore, when comparing the CCT between the Group 2 and Group 4 changing to RGP lens after wearing soft contact lens, there was no statistically significant change in the CCT. However, the CCT was significantly thinner in Group 5 changing to soft contact lens after wearing PMMA(polymethyl methacrylate) hard lens compared with Group 2.

The global force and interaction body force density were evaluated in permanent magnets by using the virtual air-gap scheme incorporating the finite-element method. Until now, the virtual air-gap concept has been successfully applied to calculate a contact force and a body force density in soft magnetic materials. These force calculating methods have been called as generalized methods such as the generalized magnetic charge force density method, the generalized magnetizing current force density method, and the generalized Kelvin force density method. For permanent magnets, however, there have been few research works on a contact force and a force density field. Unlike the conventional force calculating methods resulting in surface force densities, the generalized methods are novel methods of evaluating body force density. These generalized methods yield the actual total force, but their distributions have an irregularity, which seems to be random distributions of body force density. Inside permanent magnets, however, a smooth pattern was obtained in the interaction body force density, which represents the interacting force field among magnetic materials. To evaluate the interaction body force density, the intrinsic force density should be withdrawn from the total force density. Several analysis models with permanent magnets were tested to verify the proposed methods evaluating the interaction body force density and the contact force, in which the permanent magnet contacts with a soft magnetic material.

This paper deals with a case for robotic hands to grasp the objects using inner link contact as well as fingertip contact. And the case is proved to be more efficient than the case of using only fingertip contact in terms of stability and uniform distribution of the contact forces. The general algorithm for the determination of the optimal ocntact force is developed for the soft finger contact as well as the point contact with friction. To show the validity of the proposed algorithm a numerical example is illustated by employing a robotic hand with three fingers each of which has four joints.
